History

Established in 1985.

After working for many years in Hollywood as an actor, Robert Kim began his photography career after shooting several of his acting friends for free, just to learn the craft. In only one year, he was one of the most sought after headshot professionals in Hollywood, and is generally credited with a few others of having created «The LA Look» in acting headshots, a dramatic departure from the way New York headshots were taken.

Often copied but never duplicated, Robert began collecting the work of over 1,000 of the top photographers on both coasts, which later became the basis of his exclusive «Before & After» portfolio, without a doubt the most comprehensive sampling of comparative headshot photography ever assembled.

Robert Kim has been a celebrity headshot photographer for over twenty-​five years, with studios in Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York.

He began his show business career as a child actor with Rock Hudson, leaving high school to tour with the Platinum recording group, «Climax.» Resuming his acting career, he immediately worked with Mel Gibson in «Payback,» and was featured on two episodes of «Law and Order.» Robert has worked in virtually every aspect of motion picture and television production, serving on the SAG Minorities Board for many years. Robert is a recipient of the prestigious Golden Halo Award for his contributions to the entertainment industry.

In addition to his experience on both sides of the camera, Robert Kim is a sought after keynote speaker, with the distinction of being the most widely published headshot photographers in the history of the industry, featured in the best-​selling book, «An Actors Guide: Making It In New York,» by Glenn Alterman, on Random House.
