Despite having dental insurance, I went without dental care for a long time. If you’re in the same boat, you might know why: even run-​of-​the-​mill cleanings can be painful, it’s an all-​round unpleasant sensory experience, never had any real problems, etc. Excuses abound. Months became years. When I developed some sensitivity, I stopped short of trying to buy my own dental supplies online and made a last minute appointment with Dr. Friedman through ZocDoc. I was a ZocDoc novice and did not realize you are supposed to wait for a confirmation before attending the appointment, so I just showed up. They were able to squeeze me in and Dr. Friedman himself examined and cleaned my teeth. Everyone was so gracious.
I hate having my teeth cleaned. It almost always hurts — basic cleanings, no cavities! — and I used to leave wondering why I bothered to go. Dr. Friedman advised that the cleaning would be ‘aggressive’ because of the years of build up of plaque, but it didn’t hurt at all. Also, my teeth have never, ever looked so good. The results shocked me. And Dr. Friedman never once shamed me for not going for so long.

Had my first visit the other day. Fastest and painless root canal I have ever had. He works with such confidence you couldn’t trust him? I have a few other procedures to do and I plan on having them done by March 29^th wedding to attend… Looking forward to my new lease on life with my pearly whites!!!

The process was long and intensive and Dr. Friedman worked with me virtually every Sunday for months to measure, prepare, and size my mouth for the procedure. Throughout the process, he was friendly and funny. He kept me at ease despite that I was spending every Sunday in the dentist’s chair.
From the minute he put on the temporary teeth, things got better. The procedure gave me the confidence to smile and show my teeth and people call my smile «perfect.»
To this day, he is my dentist and works with what I am actually doing as opposed to what I theoretically should do. I have referred my friends and my former boss to him, and he still treats my former boss.
Quite simply, he changed my life. He gave me an opportunity to fall in love and to not be rejected on first inspection. He gave a new leg up on my career (I have been promoted three times since the procedure in 2005).

I am also amazed by William P’s negative review and wonder if he is not referring to another Dr. Robert Friedman!
I first met Dr. Friedman when I contacted NYU about getting an implant. He was on the teaching staff and supervised the dentist who was learning how to do implants. Dr. Friedman performed many of the procedures, including a sinus lift and bone graft, personally. I was so impressed with Dr. Friedman that I asked him if he would consider taking me on as a private patient. I am so glad he agreed.
It has now been about ten years that I have considered him «the best dentist I have ever known.» (Have you ever heard of a dentist that prefers to do teeth cleanings himself? Once a perfectionist, always a perfectionist!) He is by far the most compassionate and THOROUGH dentist I have ever known. He has always accommodated me, whether to squeeze me in for an appointment, or to make payment terms that I could afford.
Last August, he did a rear molar extraction after I had an abscess. It was my choice to pull the tooth and he recommended against it. Regardless, 12 hours after the extraction, on a Saturday, in the middle of the summer, my phone rang. You guessed it – Dr. Friedman himself, calling to find out how I was feeling and reassuring me that if I needed anything, I shouldn’t hesitate to call.
What a great oral surgeon!

This dentist is terrible. He was so negligent in my care, I ended up in the hospital. He promised to be available if I had any complications with my root canal. He did not return my calls for 2 days as a severe case of cellulitis developed. I had to have an emergency procedure performed by a dentist intern at 2 am. When I shared this story with another patient and he had a similiar experience with this dentist. Run, don’t walk out of his office.
