Riverside Park

This is a very large park with a playground but also a bunch of paths that are good for biking and hiking. There are statues and some art installations that are awesome. Grant’s Tomb is on the premises, and they have these awesome mosaic benches. There is also the smallest fenced cemetery in the country, with one tombstone. It’s west of the main road, on the side. Interesting history.

If Central Park had to deal with the limitations of cliffs, I imagine it would look slightly more upscale than riverside. The walkways are wide, the scenic views are limited only by the height of the cliffs. I ran a 5K here and could easily do another in the challenging, yet reasonable terrain.

I’m not sure where Riverside Park ends and Hudson River Park begins. I do know it is a great walk on a summer day. For all I know the two names are the same park! It is a long hike from up town all the way down toward the World Trade Center! I packed water, snacks, and camera to hike that day.
Along my way I found a great place dedicated to Eleanor Roosevelt. The plaque said her first name was Anna. I found that interesting. I posted a picture of the plaque. I’m not sure if it is easy to read. You’ll need to go search out the area and find her statue like I did. That’s part of the fun of exploring our city parks! I’m sure people that live in the neighborhood know where it is though. You could ask someone!

This park is stunningly beautiful. It spans from about 75^th st to 130^th st along the Hudson River. You can wander around the park and get wonderful views of the Hudson. There are many benches throughout the park. I highly recommend walking through the entire thing because each part is just so peaceful and beautiful. You can also stop by Riverside Church which is enormous and very beautiful. Grant’s tomb is located near the northern portion of the park. It’s lovely in any season.

I recently moved to the area and love Riverside Park even more than the East River Park when I lived closer to that part of town. It’s clean, it’s got beautiful views of New Jersey, the Hudson, and overall West side of town. The pathways are well-​kept and the grass is never filled with litter — they do a really good job keeping up with the park here.
Whether you’re biking, running, walking, or just chilling, Riverside Park has it all. You can even kayak for free!
There’s various restaurants along the way as well.
So many good things to say about this stretch of park — although I still wouldn’t find myself here too long when the sun goes down, especially in the darker parts further in towards the road.
Go during sunset! It’s the best!

Riverside Park is a long stretch of well-​maintained land that sort of has the geometry of an archipelago. An oasis for those of us in Upper Manhattan, Riverside Park is large, clean and has many amenities including NYC sponsored events, dog parks, running track, bike path and other fun events in the summer like free big screen movies, karaōke and more!
The staff that keeps the park up brings their a-​game, seeing trash on the ground is a rare sight and they actually greet people and talk to you! At least in my neck of the woods by 145. At least one of them is clearly an animal lover and always has biscuits in her pocket to give to the troves of pups that patrol this area. Devoid of tourists and large crowds, yet plenty enough people around to ensure safety.
You’d be hard pressed to find a better park in NYC.

Great view! Great place to jog, walk, while enjoying the breeze & the view of the hudson river. Pier 1 is a nice place to sit & just relax. There’s also a café on Pier 1. If you live nearby, you should definitely check this place out.

Yes everyone knows about the famous Central Park but if you walk a mile west you will find Riverside Park. This park has great bike and running trails and views of the Hudson. You can sit out on the vast areas of grass, look out into the water (and across into Jersey lol) and forget the hustle and bustle of city life.

I just love this park. It’s so well kept, and there is a great running path for all the runner folk like me. It gets a bit hilly the further south (from 116) you go, but nothing too insane. During the fall, the colors of the trees combined with the Hudson is just gorgeous. A quiet place where you’ll find strollers and dogs plenty, while enjoying a coffee or tea with good conversations.

Unbeknownst to me, the bike trail through the park now connects and circles all of Manhattan, I’m guessing 40+ miles. Combine that with the bike trails through Brooklyn ’ s hottest hipster, culinary neighborhoods and you have a couple of days of great urban bike adventuring.

One of the most beautiful parks in the city. Great view of the river and New Jersey. I like to go there sometimes during my lunch hour to sit and enjoy the scenery. Never too crowded and a large park that’s perfect for exploring on a nice day.

Unbelievable location sandwiched between the Hudson River and Upper West Side. Flowers in trees, bulbs bursting in the Spring, and lazy walks for those not on bike or jogging. A dog lovers dream and a dreamy spot to reflect outside the urban intensity of concrete.

The best park I could imagine for dog owners in Nyc to have access to. Dogs can run off leash in designated areas till 9am daily. The park is kept relatively clean and there are beautiful trees and views of the Hudson.
Anyone thinking of moving to Nyc with w dog should consider this area., stretches over 4 miles!

This is a free park close to Columbia University. Spacious, clean, upkept grounds. Beautiful in the fall and winter time. Animals welcome.

This is a great park. Very long, starts around 72^nd and goes into the 100’s on the West Side, its a great place for running or cycling.
There’s a lot of activity here. Flower beds by both the city and the local community. The local ones are really interesting some years. There are a few sets of basketball courts, where you can see some cool (and seriously competitive) pickup games at times. A few playgrounds throughout the length of this park as well.
Theres a path that runs the length of the river, and its gets wider in parts of this park. I use this park for walking, cycling and on occasion dog walking. Its terrific that way. Nice views of NJ, oftentimes boats on the water (fro the 72^nd street boat basin perhaps).
Benches throughout to sit and read a book or watch the river flow by.
NYC parks get better every year. Lets hope the new mayor keeps that trend up.

I love this park. Been running here about every other day and it has gorgeous views of the Hudson, nice, shady trees, and long, undisturbed biking and running paths. There are always people of all sorts in the park and everyone seems to be a relaxed mood. Great place to be all-​round.

Pretty beautiful park especially in the winter and during sunrise or sunset. nice for a run or a stroll. Too much dog poop. It can be cold by the water.
I wish they had some more field spce, and had more public events there. But I guess it would take away form the park and nto enough money to do. Benches are nice.

Un peu pris par le manqué de temps et gêné par la pluie, je n’ai traversé qu’une infime parcelle des 6,5 km de parcours du Riverside Park alors que je prévoyais de l’explorer de long en large.
Ce n’est que parti remise car pour le peu qui m’a été offert fut ravissant avec en jolie prémisse, cette étendue tout du long de l’Hudson River. Pleins de terrains de sports et des petits spots de cafés le garnisse ce qui en fait à la fois un endroit animé et adéquat pour se reposer.

Great quiet park to go for a run. This place is very pleasant and if you;re in the area I would definitely suggest coming here for a stroll. You can also get great views of the Hudson. What I like most if being able to run through the tree lined areas. There is something magical about this park and it is a lot less quieter than nearby central park although not as big.

Great park, aside from the dog poop. It’s everywhere. You can’t walk five feet without stepping in a large pile. And it doesn’t get any better in the winter. In fact, it’s worse. Poop all over the park. Poop all over the track. Poop all over the crosswalks. Yup, it’s everywhere.
Dog owners: Please, please, please clean up after your animals. This is a beautiful park but you are disgusting.

I love Riverside Park.
It is so nice to be able to walk down to a park where you could find waterside views. You don’t get that often in an urban setting. It has a lot of benches where you could sit down and just look at the water. However, on a nice sunny day, the benches get full quickly. Also I remembers seeing a basketball court here. Lots of people walk their dogs here too, just be aware of dog poop.
Come visit!

— NYC does a great job with its waterfronts. This park is no exception.
— Sunset. It’s not as glorious here as down by the Brooklyn Bridge waterfront, but, it’s pretty darn nice. The Fort Lee skyline isn’t much, but just sit back, relax, and imagine the smell of all that Korean fried chicken.
— If you’re about to comment on how grey and murky the Hudson looks, stop. Come back here on a sunny day with a blue sky, and the Hudson will look damn near Photoshopped, it’ll be so blue.
— Riverside Park technically extends only from 72^nd to 125^th, and Riverside Park South is the extension going down to the 50s. #facts
— If you want to eat or drink, I like Pier i Café (~70^th St) better than the Boat Basin (~80^th St). It’s more casual and open and relaxed, which I think is probably a good thing in places where a large percentage of the patrons wear rubber shoes.*
*says the guy who wears flip-​flips a third of the year.
