A friend sent me to Dr. Lewenson eight or nine years ago and he’s the best! I have very healthy teeth (good genes + floss) and every dentist I’d seen in New York up until Dr. Lewenson would try and convince me I had half a dozen cavities, or I needed to have my wisdom teeth removed (again) — one even suggested reconstructive surgery on my gums. Finding a good and honest dentist in New York City is like finding a good and honest contractor. Dr. Lewenson is gentle with the tools, has a good sense of humor, and is just an all-​around nice guy. He never tries to sell me on anything I don’t need — no fancy toothbrushes and no reconstructive surgery. His staff is wonderful as well. Go get your teeth cleaned!

I lost custody of our dentist in our divorce and had to venture out into the harsh world of dentistry (come on, none of us really like going to a dental appointment) and start over with a new DDS at age 4…, oh, that doesn’t really matter in the big picture. What does matter is that my wonderful neighbor referred me to Dr. Lewenson and I couldn’t be happier or more grateful. As afraid as I am of even having a cleaning, there is no reason to be scared when Dr. Lewenson or any of his staff are at the helm or at the dull end of a sharp metal implement. I can honestly say that my cleanings put me at ease and are, if you will, pleasant.
Then it’s Dr. Lewenson’s turn to do an exam. These are not terrifying experiences but rather comfortable and relaxing ones. My last visit to Dr. Lewenson resulted from some tooth pain I was having but for the first time in my life I wasn’t afraid to go to the dentist because I knew if there was a problem, Dr. Lewenson would handle it, repairing the tooth/​teeth with no pain, no trouble. My mind was at ease and for good reason. It turned out that everything was fine with my teeth yet still Dr. Lewenson reassured me that if a problem did arise when he wasn’t in the office that he would be reachable and all would be okay. His reassurance was so comforting, the word I usually never associated with dentists, until now.
When I first met Dr. Lewenson he had to put a cap on a troublesome tooth and it fit perfectly. It was the first time I had a cap put on and didn’t need to come back more than the first fitting as it was ideal that very first time. In addition to the wonderful doctor’s persona, knowledge, ability to care and show concern, his reception area and hygienist are top notch. This is an office where it all comes together, taking the pain out of dentistry and making it a pleasant experience. Thank you Dr. Lewenson and your staff for putting my mind at ease and for taking such great care of me and my teeth.
PS, I have just undergone my second brain surgery in October and Dr. Lewenson’s office staff took the time to call me and check in to see how I was getting along during my recovery. These people really care. Thanks so very much for looking out for more than just teeth but the whole person. You are the best!

Dr. Lewenson is a fantastic dentist! He and his terrific staff are warm and welcoming, completely setting me at ease. I especially appreciated their clear and thorough explanations throughout every step of the cleaning. My anxiety about keeping dental appointments is gone for good!
