The experience was great overall. My man and I made a reservation in opentable. The restaurant was hot and new, located on a historical street. Inside was spacious with a grand piano. The waiters greeted us warmly. They looked so handsome. OMG. We had a warm yogurt soup, which was sour and smooth, accompanied with a piece of bread. Then came a traditional Georgian pizza, with cheese, bell pepper and fresh mushroom. Hm, the fresh pizza tastes soft, the pizza bread was so good. Not like Italian pizza, which was crispy and hard. At last we had garlic chicken packed in a delicate clay pot. Mmmmm, the garlic favor was a hit to me. Will definitely come back for their lamb stew.

High quality national cuisine, wonderful Georgian wines and nice service in simple interior. Some dishes due to their size are appropriate for group only.

The service was terrible really slow and it was not crowded. Out of steak and lamb at lunch time which is odd and dissapointing. Chicken dish portion size was super small. Not that good. Got the kabob for 4. Portion was good but steak was tuff. Overall would not recommend.

What a disappointment. After finding a groupon and seeing the great reviews we were pretty excited to come here. Things started off fine with the stuffed grape leaves appetizer which we ordered first, and were actually very good. However we wanted to order our entrée and it took forever for a waiter to come back to our table. After they finally did, it took even longer for the food to come out. We got the lamb and chicken shish kababs and they came out literally icy cold and we had to send them back. They reheated for us but they were quite bland. Also we ordered one of the cheese breads thinking they would be unique and just tasted like a regular pizza. It was a cute atmosphere and the piano player was nice but we will not be returning

My brother, wife and I came here on Saturday night. My wife and I had a groupon which allowed for 1 appetizer, 2 entrees and 2 wines(or beers). The service was absolutely fantastic. Sadly, we did not get the servers name but the waitress(who I believe was from Georgia) could not have been nicer. We asked for recommendations etc and she really seemed to put some effort into explaining everything. All in all the 3 of us shared the cheese Khinkali(dumplings) — sort of built like Chinese soup dumplings, the Adjaruli Khachapuri bread(amazing), Chicken Mtsvadi and Chkmeruli. The place even has a live piano player. 100% go.

When it comes to Hangover treatment :(, You can’t find better place to recover. My recipe: 2 orders of Khiniali & soup Kharcho. + Exceptional brunch menu. Overall great place, great food, warm atmosphere and very welcoming stuff. Family owned and operated, brings special touch to service and quality. Great example of famous Georgian hospitality. As I was told, unique spices, has been delivered straight from Georgia, for exceptional taste and quality. Huge meals to share for 3 or 4 in affordable price. Georgian Wine is amazing as well, They have variety of choice, quality Georgian red and white wine. I loved SAMI mostly in red wines, but other ones are great as well, done by ancient Georgian technology. Thank you Red Compass, to make me proud of my country, again. Well done !!!

Red Compass is impeccable in cuisine, atmosphere and service. The space is cozy and comfortable, expertly decorated to be an excellent choice for both an intimate date and a party. A live pianist adds a charming vibe and great selections of popular Georgian music adds to the authenticity to the place. Service is absolutely superb. Both the owner who is present and attentive and the wait staff are knowledgeable, friendly and multilingual. The wine list and menu are a godsend to a Georgian expat like myself craving authentic food from home. The dishes are well explained on the menu but if that’s not enough, the waiters will gladly elaborate on the various scrumptious selections offered. Khinkali and khachapuri are, of course, a must. Adjaruli khachapuri is our favorite, but that’s a dish in itself. Imeruli khachapuri, however, is great as just an accompaniment to any meal. Mtsvadi and kababi are must haves, but if you are in the mood for something with more sauce chakapuli(veal) or chakhokhbili(chichen) are to die for. If you are in the mood for beef, kharcho(which is a very hearty beef soup/stew) is heavenly. The restautant’s special desert, which is a hearty take on a strawberry shortcake, is delightful finish to the meal. Don’t miss a great opportunity to try amazing Georgian wine. Our waiter/sommelier Kakhi(Kevin) was very knowledgeable about the restaurant’s wine selection and offered to let us sample a few so we could decide on a bottle. So, if you unfamiliar with the vast selection of Georgian wine, that wouldn’t be a problem here! If you live in New York, go right away, no one has ever regretted trying Georgian food and Red Compass offers a superb example of it. If you are visiting and have time to go to three restaurants in the city, make this one of them.

Great place. The food was excellent. If you had Gregorian Cuisine before and tasted Red Compass’s food you know compliments must be given to the chef. Great addition to the LES. While you dine a live pianist is playing and assortment of tunes from classical to modern. Great staff very polite and attentive. Would recommend to anyone.

First, the cheese bread is incredible. Definitely a must try on the menu. Second, my mind was blown by how good Georgian wines are. Bottles are very affordable and the selection is very good. The food is great. The vibe is awesome. The people are very friendly and helpful. They put a lot of effort to make you feel like their friend, which I think is something a lot of restaurants don’t do nowadays. The food prices are very affordable. We did the mistake of ordering the pork platter for a group of 4 people. It can easily feed 6 – 8 people!

Incredible spot in the place of the old mission Chinese. The guys here are super-helpful in explaining the wines on the menu, and they were happy to let us trial multiple wines before making our selection. The food is technically Georgian — and it tastes like Russian food with the spice/flavor kick of middle eastern food. Loved it! Definitely get the veal and lamb stew-like dishes.(But in general, trust your sever — they know what’s up). Btw — there’s live piano every night! What?! Yes.

Came in with a group of nine towards the end of the night on a Saturday and the staff was so welcoming and accommodating. Felt bad deciding to check out this new restaurant with such a large group at this late hour but we were very hungry and the inside looked so inviting that our bellies and curiosity took over. The décor is very spacious and beautiful. We were seated in the back room at a large table and our server was immediately there to greet us and make sure we all got menus to look over. He was so patient and informative with each of us individually, taking he time to thoroughly explain all the delicious looking options to select from. I had the Kakheti Salad which was so refreshing and tasty I had a few others on my group sampling it. A very generous serving that comes with a spoon so sharing was easy! I was also able to use my salad sharing to get some tasty treats in return from my friends from their orders including the amazingly delicious cheese bread. As a cheese lover this was heaven. It reminded me of a traditional calzone I’d get at my favorite old school Brooklyn pizzeria but also had its own unique flavor too. Yum! I also had a slice of the pizza my friend ordered which was absolutely wonderful. Veggie toppings with a spicy barbecue sauce flavor. And a huge individual pie that my friend had a bunch of slices left over — even after stuffing her face and sharing multiple slices with the table! She wisely got the remaining slices wrapped up to go. Didn’t have any of the great looking beer or wine offered on the menu because I had already did quite my share of drinking before we got there but chose to have a cappuccino that my server made himself and was excellent. It was so good my buddy next to me had to then order one himself! Red Compass was a wonderful experience and will definitely be returning with friends or a date. Thank you again to the staff for being so accommodating at a late hour and for our server(whose name I wish I had on my receipt or had remembered) for being so patient, informative, and helpful.
