I’ve rented instruments here twice for my kids, and found it cheaper than other nearby options. I’ve never had any trouble getting what I needed from staff, and generally found them helpful and flexible. It’s oddly rated on Google( Unilocal?) as more expensive than the other places — I don’t know why that is, maybe for something other than rentals?

The store isn’t open when it says it’s open. Sign says 10:00. At 10:10, nobody around, lights off… store is not open. Lots of other places that would like your business.

If your store hours are T-Sat 10am-6pm, it’s incredibly unprofessional to be closed at 1:33pm on Tuesday.

In the passage of my travels, I came here to inquire if Rayburn offers musical services, specifically tuning a piano. Albeit, Rayburn is certainly no Manny’s Music on 48th Street on the scale of quality music instruments to resonate sound quality. Rayburn offer music lessons unlike Manny’s. Their business card is cute depicting four people cavorting, each respectively, with a trumpet, violin, trombone, and clarinet. The inside of store appeared very dilapidated and disorganized like a factory and uninviting. I was unable to muster my inquiry for such a service at a private abode or even to inquire attaining a price quote.

i have had a number of issues with a few different baritone saxes. i brought in a very damaged Conn that Kevin went to work on and got it playing when another(much older and very well established) repair guy said it couldn’t be fixed. the shop is small but they do good, fast, quality work. Kevin has gone out of his way to work around my schedule and get my horns ready on very short notice for an upcoming gig. i will take my horns here for all my needs here on out.

I’ve been to Rayburn a few times, mostly because this is where my employer gets our students’ instruments repaired. All of the staff here have been friendly and helpful whenever I’ve come by(even when it was 5 minutes before closing), and Kevin has always repaired the instruments quickly so our students can have them back to practice. They carry a fair amount of supplies, and offer many instruments for sale, and for rent at fair prices(I’ve inquired about renting a Horn but haven’t done so yet). I did rent a flute from their Boston location a few years back when I was getting my own repaired, and I found their rental policy easy to work with. A nice option to have when searching for an instrument — right down the street from Lincoln Center. Just to note, don’t let their address fool you — they are actually on Columbus Ave between 61st and 62nd. I got a little confused the first time I stopped in looking for 44 W. 62nd Street.
