QQ Nails and Spa

I am a long time QQ customer and today was my final straw. The quality of the service has changed drastically over the years. The salon is rundown now and today the floor was very messy and dirty. Sad to see such a neighborhood gem change so much.

Clean and bright so I decided to give this place a try.
Do you like not being told you’ll need to wait 15 minutes AFTER you have chosen a color and been sat down in a pedi station, taken off your socks, boots and coat?
Seriously. This happened to me and a complete stranger. I walked in for a pedi and she asked for a mani. Both of us were seated at opposite ends and two ppl who were before us had two ppl each attending to them.
I waited the 15 minutes because it was super cold outside but it’s a professional and common courtesy to let ppl know that you will have a 15 – 20 minute wait. #absurd

This is one of my favorite salons in the West Village area where I spend most of my time. I’ve been to this nail spa a number of times and have always found QQ to be a quit, professionally managed and a pleasant clean place to visit. They also have a nice selection of products. I go there for manicures, back massages and an occasional pedicure and always ask for Angela. I think she’s the best with nails, massage and waxing. Her full massages are out of this world. I also like the location on Christopher just off 7^th. Very convenient location.

I’m far from being pedicure obsessed (I know, a rarity in New York) but when I do have one done at a salon I want it done well. I also want to stay in my Village neighborhood. I’ve tried some cheaper so-​called salons where they’re always in a rush and in the end deliver a sloppy job.
But QQ has never disappointed me. They carry a large range of Essie and OPI colors along with gels. The spa is bright and airy — the drying area looks out to Christopher Street & Sheridan Park where the people watching is priceless. The staff are super sweet and provide professional service. They even redid a toe I had scuffed coming down from the massage chair with no complaints or scolding (seriously, is there really an elegant way to get down from those things?). Lastly and just as important, the salon is clean. I don’t have to worry about leaving accompanied by a charming fungus. Just an «I feel great» attitude that comes from a good job — and perfectly polished toes!

If I could give zero stars I would. This place is terrible. Do NOT waste your money going here! Worst mani/​pedi I’ve ever had. I was visiting in the neighborhood and wanted a mani/​pedi … I can’t get over how bad. Trust me, I get my nails done once a week; I know what I’m talking about. I’m so irritated I spent money here.

This place is one of the more sterile drop in nail salon. Everything is in a new bag for each new customer and is discarded immediately after. They aren’t the cheapest place in the area ($ 23 for a pedicure and $ 16 for a manicure) but they are very clean and take care to sit you with any friends you came with. Their polish selection is probably one if the better ones and they always have new colors to try. If you are someone who likes the same color over and over, you may not be happy because they don’t have the same boring colors as everyone else and I’m not always able to find the same shade as last time. I like being adventurous though so I don’t mind.
The 4 stars is because their service is good but the prices are high for what they offer. Also, you can’t leave a tip on your credit card, so be sure to bring cash.

Probably the worst manicure I’ve received. Not tedious and super sloppy job. Polish around cuticles. I also got kicked out and they shut off the lights while my nails were still drying.

I just had a pedicure from Michael. At first I was worried because it was a guy, I’ve had a bad experience where the man was to rough on my feet, but Michael could not have been more thorough or gentle. He really rid my feet of callouses & cuticles. He also gave me an awesome massage! If he’s available, definitely request him!

Ran in here with my Mom before a dentist appointment. They were great. We were straight away given manicures in seats next to each other. Would want to go back again. Great for what we needed.

I never write negative reviews but this was the worst gel mani I’ve ever gotten. They lasted 2 days and then started cracking. For $ 60 it just wasn’t worth it and now my nails look horrible and I’ll have to go somewhere else this week. Meh.

Waltzed in at 9pm on a Saturday night, and they were able to take me for a mani with no wait. Color selection was plentiful, the place was very clean and well-​lit with gleaming hardwood floors, and the manicure was pretty good. For $ 11, I left pretty satisfied with the results!

This is a 3.5 star review based on my infrequent mani-​pedi experiences. QQ is pleasant enough and is pretty good to visit with your friends, as they’ll accommodate adjacent pedicure and manicure chairs for you. Their selection is mainly Essie and OPI, which suits me fine. I haven’t experienced the gel manicures here yet.
Ada gave me the best manicure of my life in that it looked good and also lasted for days longer than most. I’m very hard on my manicures, so this was great. Sunny gave me an awesome chair massage. As in, I’ve had 30 minute $$$ massages that accomplished less than she did in 10 minutes for $. They have loyalty cards that I am still pretty far from redeeming, but it’s a nice touch.
I originally drafted this review giving them 3 stars, but the candy bowl and exemplary massage/​mani services above have bumped it up.

Pedicure stations not clean. Staff not friendly. Sub par manicure/​pedicure that chipped after a day. Won’t be visiting again.

This used to be my favorite place to go get my nails done but they must have changed policies/​management/​conduct within the last year.
Today, I went in to get a manicure/​pedicure with a gift certificate my sister gave me, which she explicitly mentioned she had paid extra to include a tip. As soon as I told them I would not be having any ‘extras’ ie. extra massage, they started to rush through everything not taking any care.
By the time they started on my nails, I had to ask twice to have the corners of my nails filed from sharp, painful points (note: I asked for rounded nails in the first place) and they painted top coat everywhere glueing my nails to my skin.
I wasn’t too concerned, since I wasn’t paying, but when I went to leave, the manager confronted me publicly about not leaving a tip. In the crowded entryway, she kept pressing me even though I told her my gift certificate had tip included. She then proceeded to pull out a bent, handwritten ledger of gift certificates, pointed out a random line and said «look, no tip.» I was incredibly uncomfortable even though I believe my sister much more than this supposed ledger, so I paid them $ 5 just to let me leave.
This practice is completely unprofessional, and unethical. I was shocked at the conduct of both my esthetician and the manager. I will not be coming back and I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND any one else tries unless you are going for a deluxe package or planning on shelling out more for beyond regular services.

Do not let the one with the lip ring wax you.
This place could easily have received a 4 star review. I came here with my 2 friends for mani-​pedis and 20 min massages on Saturday. Even though my tech was a little sourpuss — Find a job you don’t freaking hate, hunty — she still did a great job on my feet and nails and the massage was awesome.
All that faded from view when I got my eyebrow waxing. Maybe she was tired or never trained correctly but she butchered my eyebrow wax job. I have often had a «tolerably– sloppy» waxing done in these nail joints — the girl will go over the spot with the same muslin strip and wax a second time to get stray hairs. I have NEVER had a tech, once they rip the strip up the first time, go back for thirds, fourths and fifths.
I was in pain, but I was ready to write it off as hangover-​induced. I asked for something to sooth the redness. We both looked over at the two bottles on the shelf, one said soothing/​cooling and the other toner. She hesitated her hand over the soothing cooling one and I closed my eyes. SURPRISE! She put friggin TONER on my eye, a burning, passive-​aggressive suggestion for me to get the fuck out of there.
Thinking the redness would subside I went to bed. The next morning I woke up with a big red scab. I’m in a wedding party in two weeks. Thanks to the trauma and the bad attitude, I will never go here again.

This is one of the few nail salons that close at 10 pm and not 8 or 9 pm on a weekday night! It’s a large nail salon with approximately 8 massage chairs and 8 sit-​down chairs, with around 6 nail technicians, so you’re likely to very quickly earn a spot as soon as you arrive. I actually don’t have very much of a basis to compare things like nail color selection or service offerings since I don’t patronize nail salons very much, but I can attest to my nail tech’s gentle touch, the individually packaged, one-​time use files and buffers, and how shiny my gel manicure looks like now. If you speak Mandarin, you’ll also find that the mostly Chinese nail techs are very friendly and have a sincere desire to do a good job.

I wish I could give more stars, but after my last experience here… eh. I asked for a spa manicure and it seemed the technician had no idea what I wanted. Someone else came over and told her that she was giving me the «wrong» manicure, so she asked for my card again so that she could charge me more to just rub my hands some more. The color literally chipped off within a day. It’s as if the coat she put on underneath the color caused it to chip, because it came off in large chunks. Not cute. The technician was nice though, and the receptionist was also helpful. It’s pretty crowded in there, so I wouldn’t suggest this as a very relaxing environment.

I have to give this place major points.
Met a friend of mine here today during this fantastic weather for manicures and when I came they quickly ushered me to a seat next to my friend, helped me take my coat off etc. They even gave me paper towels to wipe my face off and waited to start my manicure until I was dried off. As for the manicure itself it was really relaxing and girl gossip friendly and when we were drying they gave us massages and came back to put oil on our nails and had us go under the driers again to make sure we were dry.
And my manicure was 10.50…not bad in my book especially due to the quality of what I received!
