This place is absolutely amazing! When I relocated here a few years ago I was nervous about finding a threading studio, but then I met Tina and the ladies and my life hasn’t been the same since. Recently, I’ve moved out of new york city and let me tell you, the love is real when you wait 5 months to get your eyebrows done because you trust no one else. Just landed and this was my first stop. Feeling pretty flawless right now *cues Beyoncé*. I suggest you go get your thread on and feel flawless too!

I’ve been a regular for years now, and I’m definitely a solid customer now. I tried getting my eyebrows done somewhere else once (got a Brazilian there) but I liked this place better. Although the experience varies from decent to great (and sometimes I don’t get a mini eyebrow massage), I can’t go anywhere else.

Forgive me for not knowing the names of the ladies who touch my most private areas, lol, but I’ve been going here for over a year to get Brazilian waxes. They use chocolate wax, which is great, because it doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin. It’s only $ 25 too, which is very inexpensive compared to a lot of other places.
I usually go to the same lady every month, and she’s great. Like I said, I’m bad with names, but she’s gentle, clean, and works to make you feel super comfortable during the whole process.
However, I went today and had a new lady all I could feel was her going over the same spots over and over and over again. At the end, not even all of the wax was gone from my body and she left all of the used wax strips sitting on the bed as she left the room for me to get dressed. She also threaded down there really harshly, which I don’t even like to begin with. Clean-​ups usually consist of tweezing.
They also do eyebrows/​face threading and waxing. One time, I decided to get my eyebrows done because I was already here for my Brazilian. I HATE THREADING, and even though I told them that — they ended up cleaning up with threading after my eyebrow wax… what the??? So I’m never doing my brows here again.
Next time I come back, I’m making sure I get the name of the woman who always does my Brazilians and only going to her.

Came in around 6:40 on a Monday night and was taken care of immediately without any wait! I got my eyebrows and lip threaded and it looked great with minimal redness. The lady working on me would bump her knuckles into my eyelid while threading my other eyebrow which was a little uncomfortable. I don’t think that’s ever happened to me at an threading studio but no big deal since my eyes were closed.

LOVE this place. Cheapest good Brazilian wax! And I love the ladies that work there. I’ve been going here for 2 years.

Today I went there for Brazilian wax. I started to feel pain and at the end I realize that all my bikini zone was red. It ached and burned so much. Now I have to use a cream for the skin burns.
I don’t recommend this place!

So, I wanted to do Henna for my birthday and decided to try this place since they had good reviews on Unilocal.I called and made an appointment with Nazma. She then texted me and told me about her instagram page which was full of designs. She said I could message her and ask her about the pricing. The mehndi took about 10 minutes to complete. My two cousins did it also. My mehndi cost $ 25. The price varies on the size and design. For example, if you get the design on your hands and want to continue the design on each finger, that will be about $ 30. Smaller designs are of course cheaper. I would def come back.

I almost wanted to keep this place a secret, but decided I should share the wealth. I stumbled upon this joint when I was on my lunch break. It’s conveniently located in St. Marks, next to a bunch of tattoo parlors and restaurants. The studio is a little weathered down looking, but it’s clean and the ladies there definitely know how to tame hair!
My first time here was for the $ 25 Brazilian wax with Tina. She was very understanding, and did her best to make the process quick and painless for me… and it was! I usually leave wax parlors feeling like my skin just ripped off, but this place was wonderful! I was in and out within 10 minutes. They don’t double dip here and the facilities were clean. What a relief!
The second time I came here, I needed to get my eyebrows threaded. I didn’t catch the lady’s name, but she was really gentle and thorough. Prior to this, I got my eyebrows threaded at Thread Salon, and it came out really uneven so I asked her to fix it for me. She said she would take care of it, and she did! My brows are now even and clean. :)
Make sure to bring cash when you arrive. They accept credit cards too, but they charge a $ 1 service fee.

Rahad will hook your eyebrows up along with your Brazilian wax! Love her! She’s diligent, careful, attentive and always makes sure you are in no pain. She’s super nice and always smiling.

This is the perfect place for threading and waxing.
I found this place two years ago n I must say this is my to go spot. Tina does an awesome job on waxing and all the ladies do great threading job.

Tina is wonderful and highly recommended! She makes jokes and has a friendly, warm personality. That is exactly the kind of person you want to go to when your getting hair ripped off your cookies.
A Brazilian is not a pleasant thing, let’s be real people. But Tina does it so fast and is skilled I trust to work with such a delicate area.
There is always a short wait so try and make an appointment. On average Tina says she does 15 – 20 Brazilian waxes a day. She truly knows what she is doing.
It’s a no thrills place and the room isn’t that private with a large space between the wall and the ceiling. There are two waxing rooms and you can hear everything but for the price you can’t beat it! Your in and out in 15 – 20 mins.
This place is highly recommended if your looking for a Brazilian in the city, also make sure you tip well!

I have never written a review before but i feel like I have to. I have been coming here to get threaded for years now and the last time I went I left in tears. I HAD very thick eyebrows with a good arch and when I walked out my eyebrows were pencil thin and straight across with no arch. I don’t understand how someone could do this to someone’s eyebrows. I am now forced to draw in my eyebrows everyday and hope that they grow back to how they once were. I am scarred and don’t even know if I will be able to trust anyone with my eyebrows ever again.

$ 25 for an excellent brazillian wax. need i say more? I’ve seen the good, the bad, and the VERY ugly when it comes to these things. the ladies at PTS are professional and efficient and do an amazing job every time. They wax the old fashioned way, so yes ladies it will hurt a bit (you are getting the hair pulled out of your lady parts after all), but Tina and co work fast and I’m done in 20 minutes. Plus they get EVERYTHING, and I’m not stinging afterwards. I’ve been coming here for almost two years now so it’s about time I wrote a review.
I suggest calling beforehand. Sometimes it gets busy and you have to wait if you don’t have an appointment. But they are more than willing to put you on the calendar ahead of time.
Plus i started getting my eyebrows threaded here, and I’m never going back to eyebrow waxes ever. I find that if they get a little to thin, I tell them to just clean up underneath rather than on top and bottom.
Some pro tips I’ve learned if it’s your first time getting a Brazilian (actually I still do most of these):
–Take an ibuprofen before – helps keep swelling under control
–Don’t go near or on your period, your skin is more sensitive down there during that time
–Shower beforehand as a courtesy – and sometimes getting into hot water after the wax can be a little uncomfortable
–don’t use any exfoliating wash for the next day (or ouch!)
–use neosporin or cortisone to keep down swelling, irritation, or soreness. Then switch to an ingrown hair product after a day or two. This with help keep things smooth and let your hair grow back in nicely
And take deep breaths. It’s over before you know it ;)

Why is everyone raving about this place?
DO NOT GO FOR THE BRAZILIAN WAX. I REPEAT, DO NOT GO FOR THE BRAZILIAN!!!
It was probably the most painful experience ever, to the extent that my entire back and palm were sweating — and mind you, I have an absurd pain tolerance, my friends call me the iron woman (no joke). First of all, they don’t use hard wax, but STRIP WAX for such a sensitive area. Then I decided to get my upper lip waxed (I don’t do threading). And again, it was strip wax… It was so bad and the job was not clean.
It was really cheap though, I think it was around 40 $ for the brazilian and upper lip, which would’ve cost me around 80 $ + tip at my usual place on 23^rd street. I really wanted to love this place since it’s near where I live and inexpensive, but I think I’ll stick with my old place for now.
And also, I just love businesses that put the blame on customers! It was totally my fault for not calling ahead of time to ask about who in the world still uses strip wax for sensitive areas! Go them!

Not one to review salons, but I have NEVER gotten cut from threading until now! Came in after work (mid-​afternoon/​/​I work on the same block) and there was only one other girl getting threaded. It wasn’t busy but the whole process felt rushed and she didn’t go back in to fix the scruff so not only did I get cut but the whole point of going in was missed… I ended up fixing my eyebrows up myself when I got home.

I’ve been getting my brows done at Shobha for some time now, but I was honestly fed up with paying $ 22 before tip. I know that everyone has horror stories of cheap threading places butchering their eyebrows, and I was apprehensive about going anywhere else.
But I figured I’d look on Unilocal and see what my options were. I was really worried about paying just $ 6 for brow threading, but the reviews for this place are excellent. I made an appointment with Tina (since I saw her mentioned here a few times) for 6pm on a Sunday. The place is very small and Tina seemed to be the only one working there, but she still had me in and out in about 15 minutes.
And the verdict is in– my brows are fantastic! I explained I liked my brows thick, and wanted to keep their basic shape and really just needed them cleaned up. I can’t really tell the difference between what Tina did and what I get done at Shobha, but it did save me 16 bucks!
I did get more red afterwards than usual, and the skin around my brows was even bumpy, which went away in about an hour. But I have VERY sensitive skin and I didn’t warn Tina beforehand. She put some aloe vera lotion on afterwards which helped.
