I originally came to this bar because I thought it was«Pray» bar and lounge. I came in and got a drink and then started praying, sometimes I like to pray when I drink but have always felt uncomfortable doing so in public. Soon when I heard about Pray bar I was really excited. After about 30 minutes of praying I realized the mistake I had made when I looked down at the menu and it said«Prey» not Pray. Aside from the word confusion the place is really nice.

I highly doubt this place is open now, but i used to frequent it all the time back in the day. My friends cousin apparently was a co-owner of this space, because anytime we went we got hooked up. The lounge was pretty small, narrow area downstairs, dimly lit with a nice mini VIP area towards the back and an upstairs VIP area with the dj blasting the beats. I had probably one of the most epic new years eve parties here, got hooked up with a nice open bar deal i mean way cheaper than what everyone else was paying for a bracelet and let me just say the night was extremely fuzzy with a good looking crowd. Def miss this place.

Interesting crowd, I’ve never been a big fan of the lounge scene but this place was alright. Kind of small, and the back area is awkwardly positioned so that there’s constant foot traffic for people headed to the bathroom in the back and the upstairs is often reserved for private parties. I’m not really sure what to make of it, just not one of the best bets in NYC.

I went to Prey on a Friday night in October and I really liked it. We went at about 11 o’clock and it was me and my friend Vinny. There was no line outside and the guy at the door, I can’t remember his name but he is EVERYWHERE so he recognized us and let us right in even without girls. Inside is a little small, but beautiful. It looks like The Plumm, but cleaner and more spacious. There is a table area right when you walk in, as well as on the second level along with the DJ. If you are up for a table, I would make sure you’re on the second level, which is guarded with a velvet rope so you really feel like a VIP. The bartender was cute and flirty but not in a slutty way. She made us 4 rounds of the strongest vodka-crans that I’ve ever had, and we tipped her as such, but it felt like she wasn’t even working for a tip. The music was okay, and I feel like they could have gotten a better DJ. The dancing space was ample and after I was in the state of not remembering the rest of the night, I remember dancing with some ugly people. The crowd was really mixed. It had the young professional with disposable income crowd mixed with the college age(but mature) crowd. Don’t go to this place if you are interested in college-clubbing. I might have been the youngest kid in the place, but it was a nice change of pace. If I could get just a few more people to come out there with me to make it more fun, I would definitely go back. I don’t know why it wasn’t more crowded than it was. Also, in the men’s room you pee into ice, which I though was funny. Three stars with an easy upgrade to four if more people go.

Prey tell, JCat! Prey is a classy Lounge catering to older singles and the after work corporate crowd. Pricey drinks due to the elegant romantic atmosphere. Reasonably priced appetizers and burgers. The party is on two levels, with the lower level occassionally available for private events. Good for a Thursday(New Friday) night out. JCat has UnilocalED!

Meh. Its kind of a pinnacle of after work people gathering, batting eyes, using lines, getting shut down, drinking poorly poured pints, obnoxiously loud music(i love loud music, just not here), and inane sense of «yeah dude, awesome, man the intern in my office is SOHOT». It can get cramped at the bar, its a bit skinny, a typical bar set up it goes back a ways. TVs keep the unsocial happy, then again being social here could be walking into mind numbing territory. Remember as Drama would say: «Threesomes with rules aren’t threesomes. They’re nightmares» That doesn’t really apply but I was watching it yesterday.

Fine. Typical crowd. Called«Prey» for a reason. My friend knew one of the bartenders, so we received above-average service. Music varied a lot from average to annoyingly awful. Not too crowded(we went on a Thursday). Plastic glasses were a little blah. I won’t become a regular, but for a drink or two Prey served its purpose.

It’s a bit overrated as a total meatmarket or as a great pickup spot… at least the time I was here. The crowd wasn’t that hot, and no one really seemed into doing anything but acting like drunk fools… we’ve all been there but come on, have some dignity people! I will say that the drinks here are great… so maybe that explains the drunk fools part. I like Prey, but it’s pretty much just your stereotypical lounge.

I am a good friend. My roommate and another friend were trying to get two of the coveted Guest Bartender spots for the Wedensday night open bar here. In order to prove yourself worthy, though, you are required to show them just how popular you are by bringing all your friends out on a night when you’re not bartending. Being a good friend, I came out in support, but we all agreed that we really didn’t want our friend to be working here. This place, as Lauren G put it, has lame written all over it. It’s trying to have this posh feel, but the sports banners and TVs betray any sense of high-classness. Add to this the not so strong drinks served in plastic cups, and you’ve got yourself a real non-winner of a bar set up. 3 stars for cool staff and having one of the few beers I actually enjoy(Blue Moon) on tap, but I will probably not be returning, unless of course the roomie gets the job…

Eh, this place was lame. I can’t really think of another way to describe it. When we arrived at 11:30 they were playing all the good dance music that they would normally play at like 1 or 2am and all these really drunk girls who looked underage were up and grinding this one shady dude. It was just too early for that… I wanted to go upstairs but there’s a rule that you’re not allowed to go up there without checking your coat-which I thought was really silly…

Set up a birthday party for a friend of mine here and we were lucky enough to get the upstairs lounge area. Definitely a hott spot in located in one of the trendiest neighborhoods of the city to party – Prey had quite a crowd. The downstairs seemed to be where the main party was at, and there was an additional smaller lounge area towards the front that seemed really cute. The music was bumping so I have no complaint there. However, $ 14 for a four inch apple martini??? Say WHAAAAAAAT!!!

Prey is pretty average(music, atmosphere, drinks, etc.). I did enjoy how the guy clearing and cleaning the glasses kept an eye out for those who had been waiting at the bar for a while and notified the bartenders. Little things like that can make an average place seem alright for one night.

Welcome to your run-of-the-mill, been there done that Manhattan lounge. Top 40 Music, average drinks and not such a hot-looking crowd. Aside from the super-friendly staff, the only thing this place has going for it is the floor layout. Enter the front door and immediately to your left his a high-rise VIP section that allows you to check out who’s coming, who’s going and what’s shakin’ on the dance floor. Toward the rear of the lounge, a second floor balcony allows for a nice view of all the not-so-crazy happenings. Enticed to join a group of friends for a post-dinner fiesta at this lounge, the only saving grace of this evening was the fact that we secured the entire front VIP section. So technically, those two stars are for my friends who were the best part of this entire experience.
