Precision Photos

The owner was extremely kind, generous, and apologetic after realizing some of my prints were stained. I was given a new batch and they were printed exactly the way I wanted them: beautifully colored and finished within 24 hours. I really appreciate the effort they took to complete my re-​order. They are a good company with great prints, good prices, and quick turnaround. I will be back when I need a new batch!

Amazing service– quick, friendly, and totally affordable. All of my questions were answered thoroughly before we got started, and the owner was even sure to repeat everything before placing my order to make sure I knew exactly what I was getting/​paying for.
They provide retouching that keeps your headshot looking REAL, but clean and professional– and they will always print you a proof before bulk printing your photos so you can make sure that the physical copy is just as you want it.
Within 24 hours, I had 75 professional-​quality copies of my retouched headshot with my name printed on, plus a digital copy, and it didn’t break the bank at all– which is super important for us «just starting out» actors, haha.
Overall: I don’t understand how this place has any negative reviews. I definitely recommend Precision.

Ordered on a Monday, shipped in Tuesday, arrived on Thursday! Someone picked up when I called and was able to answer my questions. Great quality photos, very professional. Muuuuuch less expensive than some of the bigger names. I don’t really understand the two star review? I’m satisfied!

I recently moved to NY from LA and needed to rush to an audition. I was a hot mess when I came into Precision. It was storming out, the only Headshots I had were email PDFs, and I only had a few hours.
Not only did the owner help me pick the best quality photo out of the ones I was able to download (I am a union, represented actress, so I was being picky about this) but he did it fast, charged my phone, AND printed my sides for me so I could look over them while I waited. He absolutely went above and beyond for me. I recommend this place to everyone. Plus, the prices are really great! I’ve definitely found my spot for shot printing.

An artist! Perhaps a little temperamental, but isn’t that the true definition of artist? Isn’t it great work you want?

Recently I ran out of copies of my headshots, and didn’t realize it till the night before an audition at noon the next day. I immediately placed an online order with precision photos, noting that it would be a huge help if I could pick them up by 11am the next morning. Not only did they oblige, but the quality was spectacular. Super fast turn around time and very friendly service gets this place 5 stars from me. I will definitely be using them for all reproduction needs in the future.

AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE!!! DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT GO TO THIS TERRIBLE PLACE!!! I absolutely agree with the overwhelming majority of reviewers who had a crazy, wierd experience with the owner, Michael, due to his unprofessionalism and bad attitude. He was nice over the phone, however all that changed while I was trying to order a SIMPLE ONE-​PAGE RESUME which he became unnecessarily argumentative about, overcomplicating everything (like the font!), getting increasingly nasty, and giving me a hard time it was unbelievable… He was not helpful at all and a moron. I don’t expect him to be able to stay in business much longer, especially with his poor social interactions and obstinate «I’m the owner so I’m right» attitude. He clearly doesn’t know how to work with people and cannot understand simple requests, such as the FONT (!), he made it like I was the one being difficult and then suddenly refused to take my order after making me stand there talking to him for over half an hour… Ridiculous, unprofessional, IDIOTIC, and a rude, WASTE OF TIME! I am so disgusted by my experience, I will go back to Reproductions or to Colorworks instead, like everybody else!!!

I gave PP a shot to do a solid for a colleague who has connections with them. The gentleman at the desk during our room rental time was very nice, warm, and professional, which gave me some faith that my experience might be a good one. They are competitively priced for many of their products/​services, the headshots lining their walls looked good and clean, and the heavier stock biz card samples were professional/​usable.
I mostly dealt with Mike during my set up. Perhaps he has read these reviews, as he was actively trying to be nice, accommodating, and professional, while trying to catch his ego when I commented on something that wasn’t to my liking.
VERY glad I chose a headshot package which granted me two sets of test prints. The first was MUCH darker than the proof given by my photographer. The adjusted print, however, came out properly. The tests prints were saved. So I was able to compare them to the final product. And they matched.
I wasn’t pleased, though, that care wasn’t taken to ensure that each of my shots were free of fingerprint ink smudges. Fortunately, they wipe off. But one shouldn’t have to deal with that when paying for this service. First time I’ve had that issue in nearly 15 years as a professional artist.
I also wasn’t completely pleased with the quality of the paper used. The picture comes out fine. But the paper is thinner than most types of photo paper used. Works fine once a headshot is stapled to the back, though.
But the business cards were the real nightmare. The sample cards in the thicker stock were nice. Clear pictures, great colors, good weight to the stock used. I chose them, and the extra money for a double-​sided card. They were supposed to arrive in 3 – 5 biz days. Took 7 biz days… and I’m really not convinced it would have been that quick if I didn’t call to follow up.
The product that came through was a disgrace. Check cardboard stock [read: not even card stock] that was creased at the top of some of them, the picture completely washed out, the text in some font that printed MUCH different than the one I chose, just horrible. Literally not usable as a serious professional. They were clearly printed on some big sheet of cardboard-​esque «photo» paper, and then cut out — poorly.
The employee who handed them to me saw the disgust on my face, and asked what was wrong. I flat out said, in my anger, «These are crap.» And he just walked away. And that was after purchasing $ 350 worth of materials from them. And he didn’t walk away to get Mike. Just walked away.
So my money for a reprint did the same thing.
Lastly — and I am NOT making an accusation that this was done purposefully — you have to make sure you are present and watching everything throughout the entire set up process. Mike is quick as lightning with running the computer (kind of awesome to watch), but it resulted in my invoice being wrong twice before it was correct. And he didn’t blink twice when he told me my bill was nearly $ 700. Once I asked him to recheck that, he was plenty cool about making the proper adjustments. Just keep an eye out.
Like most everything, you get what you pay for. If you’ve already set something up with them, or pay for the test print, I could recommend them for last minute small runs of headshots. Obviously, serious no go on the business card front. I do feel that you’re better off in the long run setting up with Reproductions. But it is good to know there is an option for fast turn around, and rehearsal/​audition space rentals.

I’ve been using precision for five years and have never had any issues. The owner, Michael, is a nice and professional guy. He routinely responds to any emails immediately, and they keep you posted on your order via email.
As a repeat customer, I would absolutely recommend these guys to print your headshots. Competitive prices, great product. Headshot printing is expensive, so be prepared– but you will be satisfied with the product.

I’m a young actor, pretty new to NY, so was looking for some affordable head shots a few weeks back and turned to this place via internet recommendations. I submitted my prints online and they were to be ready by Friday. I planned to pick them up Saturday morning for a Sunday morning audition. It was Labor Day weekend but nothing on their website gave me any hints that they’d be closed. I went in but unfortunately… They were closed. So I had to last minute get some photos made at CVS.
Did the audition, booked the gig, and didn’t need the head shots any longer. Sent an email asking for my money back. The owner apologized, offered to refund me, or sell me the photos half off. I didn’t need the shots right away but figured it’d be a good deal down the line and took him up on it.
The only reason I’ll never come back to this place is that when I went in to pick the head shots up the owner treated me like some kind of criminal. He hadn’t informed his employees that’d I’d been offered this deal so I had wait about 15 minutes for him to finish a series of phone calls. And when he finally came, he hardly said a word to me, and was just overall cold. This interaction made me feel alienated, like He wanted me to feel bad for requesting a refund for what was simply a rational budgetary decision.
Anyways there’re a lot of other options out there and I’d much rather find a place that actually cares about the people who come in to do business with them.

I concur with the other reviews listed. I’ve used Precision a few times and I just find the customer interaction to be uncomfortable. Michael is not nice, is indeed condescending as others have noted and he puts you on the defensive, immediately. I tense up when I have to talk to him or go in. I am going to use Reproductions from now on. I would much prefer people who are kind.
I don’t know why he wouldn’t take these comments to heart and work on himself. But he doesn’t so that’s that for me.

This place has literally the worst customer service of any business I have ever experienced. Not just for photography, but any business. Ever. Do yourself a favor and avoid these unprofessional, nasty, individuals, at all cost.

Love these guys. Michael took care of me. He is honest and cares about what he does. Wish I would have known about the coupon but I will use it next time. He actually gave great advice to a newbie that came in for head shots. He could have taken him to the cleaners but he knew the shot wasn’t good so he advised he only get ten and helped him look for a photographer for future shots. Great to know honest people still exist in the biz.

Picking up my photos after a fairly normal experience w test prints, etc. Pricey, but to be expected with these sorts of things for the most part.
5 of the photos had a huge red ink stain across my face, making these prints absolutely unusable. I contacted them about it the very next day… this was two weeks ago and I am still waiting for the prints they say they are mailing me.
So disappointed after dropping over $ 100 on the prints, the owner Michael was helpful but clearly not interested in really fixing the problem. And then he tried to say he provided «faast» service, but I;m still sitting here two weeks later waiting for usable photos. Won’t be going back again.

Worst place to get headshots printed!!!
People say the West Coast is fake, well I recently moved from there to NY and ended up using this service, and pictures came out blurry, poor color, font name too small, basically will not be able to use any of the pictures!!! Guess I should have read these reviews first…
The owner kept saying that since I didn’t order many I wasn’t allowed to get a test print. Interesting how he only cared about the legal stuff to protect him than caring about the potential new client. I ended up ordering my headshots from Los Angeles, rather pay the extra shipping cost!

Quality of the products is very unprofessional and poor. If you want to be taken seriously as an actor in this town, do not use their services. (When I was less educated in the business I used to use them, and I am embarrassed that someone in this world might still have my flimsy «business card».)
Owner, Michael, shouldn’t be in a business where he is forced to interact with others daily. Here’s my worst experience with Michael:
They once ran a special deal where if you had ordered products worth x amount ($ 150? $ 200? Can’t remember) in the last 3 months then you get 10−15% off on your next order. I had spent more than enough to qualify for this deal so I placed a new order, asking for the special discount. My STAGE NAME (on my products) and LEGAL NAME (on my credit card) are two different last names (same first name). I brought Michael my credit card statement, showing all recent charges by Precision, my photo ID, etc. etc. Michael said he could not honor the deal. Uh, what?
My headshots and my photo ID clearly and obviously prove that I am the same person.
On top of that, like to many others who reviewed here, he started telling me about how difficult actors are and how hard his life is. SERIOUSLY?
BYE!!! (Use COLORWORKS for retouching (excellent folks) and REPRODUCTIONS for printing.)

Wow, wish I would have read these reviews before wasting my time here. I got a Facebook deal through an acting website. So I went to check it out…
When I inquired about retouching the owner was majorly rude about it. I wondered why retouching would cost more than at a superior competitor. And I hardly need massive retouching at all.
As I inquired he said «Do you know how much my rent costs?» Excuse me but we ALL pay high rent in his city. Maybe making rent wouldn’t be an issue if you had customer service skills.
All that said, I will not be returning and I would suggest anyone considering saving a buck run the other way. Sometimes saving money isn’t worth the time and hassle.
Back to Reproductions I go…

I don’t understand why you would work in a business with actors if they annoy you so much.
The owner, mike is a condescending poor excuse for a business owner. When considering a few more dollars for reproductions pictures I will choose them next time. They have better quality and don’t make you feel like an idiot for being an actor. Wish i could give no stars.

I’ve ordered head shots from Precision Photos in the past and they came out fine, but their business has really gone down. I’ve also previously used Reproductions — where the prints are gorgeous, but they require a large minimum order, so I decided to go back to Precision for a small run. I don’t regret saving the money, but this last experience was very unpleasant and the print quality was only kind of ok.
Here’s what happened:
First of all, Precision has this terrible online application that you download to your computer to upload your head shot and format your name — DO NOT USE IT. I should have known better.
I ordered test prints — and thank God, because there was an extremely reddish tint (and even a line across my head on one of them). The font of my name also didn’t look the way I thought it would, and the owner, Mike, was very rude to me about it, spending at least 15 minutes lecturing me and «proving» to me that I had indeed chosen that font. To his credit, he did only partially charge me for making changes to the head shots after the test print, but it did not make up for the poor service.
I went back a couple days later to work with Mike on redesigning the shots, and he was again very defensive and unprofessional, passive-​aggressively telling me that he wanted to keep my business, yet complaining that he was especially staying «late» for me because he usually leaves earlier to catch the train home.
The process of re-​setting up the shots was painful. I feel like I should not be the one making the decision about where to place my name on my head shot, because I don’t professionally align head shots — Precision Photos does (supposedly). Mike was obviously trying to provide me with various options, but he wouldn’t give me a straightforward professional opinion. Reproductions is much more professional and they aren’t afraid to just tell you what looks best and what the industry standard is.
The final straw came when I went to pick up the photos and Mike treated me rudely right off the bat. I told him my last name to pick up the order and he looked at me like he had no idea what I was talking about. He rolled his eyes and said, «You gotta give me some clue why you’re here… are you here to rent a space, pick up an order???» in a very condescending tone. I don’t expect him to recognize every customer (although it was the third time I had been there in a week), but I don’t think it’s too much to ask to greet customers in a polite way.
I would have some sympathy for this place if it had either quality product OR good customer service, but this experience proved they have neither. I will not be coming back.

The owner, Mike, actually took care of my order. I was happy to finally get professional headshots & resumes printed out that didn’t make me look weird. No easy feat since I’m a redhead.
The picture quality is fabulous and I keep getting compliments on the headshots. Affordable pricing, good incentives to return; overall, a good place for struggling actors to get quality printing for headshots.
