Stopped by on a Friday night around 8:30pm. What a disaster! Lines were long and disorganized(in all different directions). There were people who were not customers waiting for their various Chinatown buses taking up all the tables with their large luggage. A beggar even walked in and asked for change while I was on line. Limited to no air conditioning as well on a hot and humid night. I waited in line for 5 minutes and left without ordering. This Popeyes was terrible tonight and going forward if in the area I will only go to the nearby Walker St location. F minus.

Less of a review but more of a question really… how do you report a restaurant or food establishment for food poisoning? I came in here last Friday for a late lunch because i work close by and spent Friday night in Brookdale for my troubles, hooked up to tubes on a hospital bed. I would like to repay these fine people for their generosity by contacting the health department about them. Does anyone know how to go about doing that?

Delicious fried chicken for a great price. Since this restaurant is next to several bus stations it is often crowded.

I don’t like this particular Popeye’s. You pay so much and get so little for that amount. I ordered a shrimp combo, and was literally handed around 7 – 8 small pieces of friend mini shrimps, small fries(around 15 – 20), and a biscuit, and the total was $ 12. It did NOT take care of my hunger, and I was still hungry afterwards. The bathroom was dirty, and the food was under-cooked. I will not be coming back to this Popeye’s.

I decided to try out the new spicy packed wings thinking it would be really spicy. Had to wait 15 mins for a new batch to be made, but I didn’t mind the wait since it meant I won’t be getting a batch that has been sitting on the rack for quite a long time. Only problem was that it was burning hot once we got it – hard to dive in and start eating when you can barely hold it without playing a game of hot potato with yourself. Popeyes has always nailed the crunchy factor, producing chicken fried to perfection and moist in the center. This new menu item passed the crunch test, but not the flavor test. The wings were unevenly coated with a ‘spicy’ seasoning that was not spicy at all. I didn’t really see the difference between getting regular fried chicken with the new sauce vs this new menu special. The spicy pepper ranch sauce wasn’t spicy either, but it did taste similar to Chipotle mayonaise minus the heat.

Overall my experience here was pretty decent. The people are really nice. Been here a couple of times already. Just a little sad that they didn’t give me sauce for one of my orders and the wrong sauce for the other.

This Popeyes is below average service and restaurant setting wise compared to the average Popeyes, in my opinion. Located at the corner of Chrystie and Canal Streets this Popeyes is a popular haven for the homeless and bus riders to sleep and just loiter around. The employees here don’t really seem to mind as they also use the restrooms without purchasing anything and leave a mess. Food wise, it’s fried chicken. Who doesn’t love fried chicken?

Fast food restaurants are almost everywhere. Except when I want fried chicken, I will always trust popeyes. I stopped by on Monday desperately wanted to dig into some juicy fried chicken and I almost sprinted to Popeyes. It is in a very convenient location and is almost always packed. I chose the option of 11 mixed(or tenders) for 13.99. They had another option of 10 for 12.99. I save 2 cents per chicken when I do the first option(haha). I had a mix of spicy and mild and they were so good. Their hot sauce is more on the sour side with a kick of heat. Popeyes will always be my favorite place to get fries at. Tip: order a small soda because a medium costs 3.09 and it is not that much worth it. KFC used to be my favorite chicken place, but no one can do fried chicken like popeyes. Their tenders are always good as well, except they are so stingy about their sauces. It is .25 cents for an extra sauce. Despite the complications of their prices, I will always be back for some good finger lickin’ juicy fried chicken.

Cheated me. Normally, you can expect a skimpy piece or two, like a breast piece that’s got a chunk missing, but the last time i went here it was inexcusable. I ordered a 16 piece mixed spicy/regular. When i got home, i found that there were 8 wings; that is HALF of the pieces were the smallest pieces instead of four pieces each of breast, wing, thigh and drumstick. I called them to complain and they said it must have been an accident. I’m sorry, but you don’t accidentally make half my order wings.

Reviewing a Popeye’s? I rarely review fast food restaurants, but I thought I should give a quick review to one of my favorite Popeyes locations. This one’s located at the foot of Manhattan Bridge. It’s a decent size for a Chinatown restaurant with adequate seating. Through the years, the best thing about this location is that there are always 9, 11, or 13 piece chicken specials. For some reason, the Popeyes at Walker Street never seems to have these types of deals. To sweeten the deal, if you are a dark meat fan, you can ask them to limit your order to legs and thighs only! I’ve been to other locations where they don’t allow this. As for asking about white meat only, I don’t know if they would allow this. As for the chicken quality, this Popeyes chicken is never overcooked, always golden brown and has high turnover, so the chicken is always hot. In summary, I think this location is what Popeyes is meant to be.

Love Popeyes chicken and this is my closest location. The good Popeyes taste is consistent here but the the service and chicken size is not. Would be nice if they offered a chicken basket special of dark meat only at lower price like they do in some of the suburb locations.

*Must Try: Cajun Fries! Extra addicting. *you can never go wrong with Popeyes’ mashed potatoes or buttery biscuits, especially when served hot and fresh! *Popcorn Shrimp are tiny pieces of crunchy awesomeness. *Fried Chicken is always crispy with juicy meat. *expect a long wait, even if the line looks short.

It was a cold Wednesday night. I was drunk. And Popeyes filled that hunger burning inside of me. If I was a Zillionaire, I’d hire a chef who’s sole purpose was to make me the fried chicken and the bbq of my dreams. Everyday. However, even then… probabley a few times a year, I’d have to eat me some Popeyes. I know what good burgers are, but sometimes… I just need a Big Mac or half a dozen White Castle burgers. Same with fried chicken. Is it Blue Ribbon, Amy Ruth’s or Bob White quality? Hell, to the N. O. But, when the time calls for dirty and cheap fried chicken, this Popeyes is it.

The chicken was so juicy, see picture. I would have liked the spicy to be spicier though. Three pieces for $ 5 was a great deal.

I get the fried chicken here everyone once in a blue moon. I normally get the 2 or 3 piece meal with a biscuit. The pieces of chicken you get w this value meal are so tiny and sad looking compared to the ones they have displayed. They must have a hidden rack with these«special» pieces so you don’t get them till after you paid lol. The biscuit is okay, but on my last occasion must have sat under the lamp way too long. Plus they only take cash :(

DAMNYOUPOPEYES — DAMNYOUTOHELL!!! I ordered to go here an hour ago on SUPERBOWLSUNDAY looking for a good WINGMEAL. I ordered the 12 pc mixed family meal, and asked if I could have all dark meat; they said yes and I was a happy camper b/c I know a lot of spots don’t do this. When I got home, I opened the box excitedly, ready to destroy some wings when I realized that NONEOFTHE12PIECESWEREWINGS — like, not even one f*cking wing. I was/am so beyond angry that I paid $ 32 for a meal that doesn’t contain the one thing I freaking wanted. And WTFMAN, since when were wings not dark meat? I’m sorry, is it too hard to differentiate dark & white meat? Are wings in the gray area? WTFMAN!!! DUDE, IT’S SUPERBOWLSUNDAYAND I HAVENOWINGS. Am I overreacting? My boyfriend says no — and for $ 32, I don’t believe I am!!! Sigh. I know reviews for chain restaurants are sorta like ‘eh’ but I needed to do this. Unfortunately, this is the only popeyes in the vicinity, so next time I have a craving I will make it crystal clear to them that I want wings included. Excuse me while I cry in the corner.

I love fried chicken and biscuit, nothing can stop my love for fried chicken, so this place is perfect for me when I crave for fried chicken. I always like to get the three pieces with a biscuit. The drunstick, wing and the other piece were juicy and delicious!

Popeyes at Canal St. — DON“T GO… Cashiers don’t speak fluent english. I told cashier, 11 piece bonafire. Kept on asking me–«what number, what number»? I thought i went to chinese restaurant. So i pointed to them. «Spicy? Mild?» he asked me. I told him” I want dark meat”. He ignored me and threw in 11 pieces of chicken into box and said $ 25.99. I threw 4 pieces of white meat into garbage.
