Pleasant Cleaners and Custom Tailors

Went here once for a simple hem. The owner was an asshole, so I never went back. Vote with your wallets, people. This guy is wasting precious real estate.

Worst dry cleaner ever, I kindly showed him how he was draining my shirts with the tags he uses even without asking him to replace any or fix them.
His answer of the owner: «there is no other way for us to do it, if you don’t like it go somewhere else!»
What an unpleasant person the owner is, horrible customer service every time.
Luckily there is two different dry cleaners right in front of him, so you just have to cross the street.

After bringing my clothing here when I had bed bugs, it is hard to say which experience was worse, the bed bugs or dealing with this cry cleaners. ($ 1,303 of service)
They ruined all my leather
They stained my white sweaters and the colors ran everywhere
and on top of it all– they lost my down coat.
When I called to ask where my down coat was, because it’s on the bill but did not make it home, they told me I must have lost it, not them. I said that wasn’t possible and to please check again. He hung up on me.
When I called back to ask why he hung up, he told me it will take him a couple of days to check his store and I need to wait and then hung up again.
I will never use this place ever again and have begun to spread the word about this horrible experience.

Great service and drycleaning. The only one I go to in Washington heights. Aram, the owner is a friendly man as well.

The owner is aggressive and rude and actually pretty scary. He «lost» my very expensive cashmere sweaters and then came up with five different scenarios of what happened to them: Someone else picked them up? I never dropped them off? He already delivered them to my home? The list went on and on. He then told me it wasn’t his responsibility and then threw me out of his store. He never apologized or offered to help in any way.
He stole $ 500 worth of clothing from me. The police are now involved and I’m building a case against him with the help of an attorney and many other disappointed clients. A group of us are taking him to court over this.
I have no idea how he stays in business. I heard from a neighbor that the owner shoved his pregnant wife in the store last year, so that’s the kind of person he is.
I’ll tell you this — I’m sure his friends and family are VERY well dressed!
PS — The owner’s name is Aram Gozobuyukian. So there’s that.

I genuinely like this place. It’s a one-​man operation and he is an old-​school, old world tailor who also has a dry cleaning business. On tailoring jobs, he gives me an estimated date of completion and he has been off by a day or two, once or twice, but, I usually just pick up at the latest date of his esitmate. If you talk to the guy, you get a sense of what needs to be done and when things will be ready.
The work is excellent — I have had numerous sportcoats taken in, since losing weight — and the prices are much lower than downtown. Dry cleaning is good and prompt. You can tell him it’s a rush and he is usually able to accomodate you.
I like this business a lot.
It makes me feel closer to the neighbhorhood.

I dropped off a pair of pants 10 days ago to have the zipper replaced. The man working told me it would take a week so I checked back in today and they hadn’t even been touched. I understand replacing a zipper can be a lengthy process but literally nothing had been done to them. I decided to take them back since they hadn’t been worked on and the man (I assume he’s the owner) was very rude about giving them back to me. Nice location, rude service, won’t go back.

well, I came to Unilocal to actually GIVE these jerks a bad review… and I already see they have ONE star… well — I don’t even want to give them the privilege of one star. Is there no way to give zero?
First, I’ve been here before, and had terrible service, but I needed to launder a shirt, so I returned since the cleaners is just around the corner from me and I wanted to give them another chance. I went in knowing the shirt had a stain on the front from a horse that nuzzled me (as they tend to do). The stain was likely his feed or hay. (organic material). I’m part of a mounted unit, so this was a uniform shirt… and these shirts are meant to be laundered, and are made with fabric designed to easily give up stains. When I got to the cleaners and turned in the shirt, I asked for the shirt to be laundered (which I do myself all the time), but the heat of NY summer makes the shirts look better if they are laundered & starched). The owner said however, that it MUST be dry cleaned because of the stains. I reluctantly agreed because I wanted out of there. He had yelled at me 5 minutes before that because I didn’t want to give him my address.
I returned today to retrieve my shirt and asked about the normal price for laundering shirts. The very nice employee said it was 2.25… I then asked why my shirt couldn’t have been laundered because I do that all the time. The owner then popped out and said it had stains all over it so he said he had to launder it. (previously he told me it had to be dry cleaned). I wasn’t sure what was happening at this point, but I knew I was getting lied to… because it was a different story than before. He told me they were bad stains and that’s why he had to charge me more. I would understand that… if they were indeed bad stains… but these were normal typical stains that I get all the time from being with horses. He claimed they were grease. Hmmm, yeah, horses have grease all over them. I, in no way come in contact with grease when dealing with a horse. That would be bad.
He proceeded to yell, scold me, tell me I needed to learn how to talk and continued to verbally abuse me, yell at the top of his lungs, to which I returned the dialogue so as to have the entire neighborhood hear what a total ass#&^#$ this guy really is. I hope people continue to hear him yell at his customers and never come to his shop… which is curiously called «Pleasant Cleaners.» — Pleasant I think NOT.
There are many cleaners in the neighborhood… DON’T go to this one… purely on the principle that the owner is an absolute jerk who treats his customers like 1) People he can lie to 2) People he can fool into higher priced services 3) and he probably treats his employees the same way.
I will be spreading the word NOT to use «Pleasant Cleaners» to everyone in my neighborhood. People should NOT be rewarded in the service business for being a CHEAT and being just plain RUDE and MEAN !!!

We have gone to this cleaners for years and had mostly good results. Yet we just took a top of the line down comforter to be cleaned and got it back with black plastic melted onto it. Thats right, melted black plastic on a white duvet comforter.
We clearly had no melted plastic stains on the comforter before, and it was in great condition when we dropped it off, just needed a cleaning.
The owner refused to take responsibility for it, and although he didn’t ask us to pay for it, he claimed it was our fault and that «it probably happened between our house and his store, but didn’t happen in his store.» This added insult to injury of damaging a very expensive item.
It is truly disappointing disservice to loyal customers to be treated like this.
