This Place is non Trustworthy I had got a abortion here back in 2013 and they gave me depo provera as my birth control, I stopped using depo in the early 2014 and I have yet still gotten pregnant I don’t think it’s the depo I think the clinic fucked my body up

I went to planned parenthood for a wellness checkup and birth control. It was easy and uncomplicated and a lovely experience. I had an appointment and was seen right away (despite being in the middle of Snowpocalypse 2016) and sent from one floor to another with remarkable efficiency. I’ve waited a lot longer at the fancy private clinics and still haven’t been treated as well.
What really stood out to me, however, was the incredible kindness and compassion of everyone there from the security guard to the amazing CNM who gave my my birth control. The intake nurse told me about her BC experience, the financial aid interviewer was kind beyond words. The whole experience made me so grateful that such a phenomenal facility is available to the women of NYC. I wouldn’t go anywhere else for a GYN checkup now and I’m generally blown away by the kindness I received here.

I am really impress with this clinic. It is even better than a private clinics that I usually go to. The provider was friendly and she was on top of her game. The implant birth control procedure she did was outstanding. It was 1, 2 3, not complicated nor painful. She was very knowledgeable with this procedure and very friendly and professional. She was even better than the private OBGYN that I usually go to see. The staffs there were very efficient and know what they are doing. It was very organized and you get to see your result rather quickly.
I love it and I would definitely go back there. You need to schedule the appointment by calling them early in the morning 8am on time just to see if you can get squeeze in the same time service for birth control procedures.
Please be responsible and go see them.

While I waited for almost three hours to see a nurse to get a birth control rx, I can’t say enough good things about this clinic and Planned Parenthood. I am lucky enough to have insurance and a stable income and never really thought of seeing a PP physician until recently. I saw three gynecologists who refused to prescribe me continuous birth control pills, which I need to suppress my period since it severely aggravates a chronic illness I have (not that you need a reason to decide you don’t want to get your period). I was sick of missing at least a day of work every month just because I’m a woman, and it was disheartening to encounter three «doctors» in NYC who were misinformed and should clearly go back to med school. I knew PP is pro-​women and would prescribe me the bcp I believe is best for me. Not only did they address my concerns about additional risks (none vs regular 21 day pills), but the provider even noted, which 3 doctors seem to have missed, that I shouldn’t be on combination estrogen birth control because I have migraines with aura and it really elevates my risk of a blood clot. She recommended progestin only pills which were a great choice for both of the changes I needed. She probably saved my life! Planned Parenthood is an amazing organization helping all women and people from all walks if life and it saddens me to see harm done to providers by ignorant, misinformed, and violent people. The providers here are so informed and save lives and make lives better every day. Thank you PP providers for your service and to anyone looking for amazing care, you are in great hands with PP!

Excellent establishment. The staff here is nothing short of exceptional when it comes to customer service and genuine friendliness. I will travel from Queens just to go ti the location for every single visit and that most likely won’t ever change

I arrived on time for my 2:40 appointment. I waited over an hour to be seen by a tech for initial intake. It’s been 2 hours and I still haven’t even been put into a room. There are 10 girls in the secondary waiting room with me. I had to wait over 2 weeks to even be seen and treated. I’ve been to two other locations in the NYC area and was seen in a timely fashion. This is ridiculous and demeaning.

I aaaaalmost gave this place 3 stars, but read on. I had an appointment at 12:40. Came in and did paperwork and whatnot, got seen by someone who asked some questions and took my blood pressure. Then after I was told to take a seat in the waiting room for the actual appointment. I finally get called over AN HOUR later. I’m sorry, but what the heck was the point in me making an appt if I was going to wait for over an hour? There were quite a few other people waiting as well, but I feel like that shouldn’t really make a difference. The nurse practitioner, Michelle, was very kind and made me feel very comfortable, so no complaints there. She had me talking through the pap test and breast exam (I told her it was my first time having it done) so I think it was to keep the atmosphere comfortable. She explained everything really well. But when I had first sat down and she asked my birthdate she said the patient had to be 21 to get a pap test (I was turning 21 five days from the appt) so I said «well, I just waited for over an hour and the person I made the appt with never said I had to be 21» I wasn’t mad with her of course. But she didn’t want me to have to go all the way home and come back a week later so called someone and was like, let’s go ahead. So I was really appreciative of that because it takes me about an hour and 15 mins to get here by bus and train.
So the only two things I had a problem with was
1. I feel like my appt was pointless because I waited so long anyway
2. The receptionist didn’t inform me that I had to be 21 to get a pap test. That’s REALLY important!!! What if I wasn’t turning 21 for another 2 months? I would have wasted an hour and 15 mins getting there and then another 1+ hour waiting. Like, that’s the worst part, is she didn’t tell me such a crucial detail.
I would return here again because Michelle was really great and will make my appt with her, but if I end up waiting 30+ minutes next time I’m DEFINITELY saying something to the front desk. Also, my medicaid covered everything. The place is also really clean.

Because the service I wanted was not available at the Bronx clinic, I was scheduled for this location in Manhattan. Spanning three whole floors, the Margaret Sanger Center is much more impressive. Multiple waiting rooms with plenty of space, television screens in every area, plenty of restrooms throughout the whole building, and pristine exam rooms. What I really appreciated the most is that you are never left in the dark because they give you frequent updates on where you’re going next and what tests they’ll be performing. Their entire staff is professional, supportive, and caring — especially their counselors, lab techs, medical assistants, and nurses. Both my anesthesiologist and attending physician had incredible bedside manner, and couldn’t have made me feel more comfortable and safe in their hands.

I’m here for a routine annual exam. The staff are really warm and nice. They always inform me what will happen next step and what I should do. Everything is in order and the offices are clean. Waiting time is almost zero. I was in and out within an hour. Definitely great experience.

I didn’t have an appointment, but decided to show up first thing in the morning when their office opened hoping they would be able to take me as a «walk-​in». I think it was a good strategy and I had some luck because they were able to see me and address my concerns in a reasonable amount of time. The staff was warm, helpful, professional and efficient every step of the way.

I had an phenomenal experience at the Margaret Sanger clinic. Every single staff person was efficient, caring, and clear when explaining each procedure, test etc. I felt that the doctor who was primarily in charge of my care was personally invested in my well being and the outcome of my time in her care.
Listen, the reality is that the majority of those of treated at this clinic either don’t have the health insurance to pay for a private OBGYN practice/​annual visit, or alternately, are there for a procedure that bears a heavy social and moral stigma… I and the other patients I saw at the clinic were treated with dignity and I left feeling physically well and personally respected. I wish I had piles of money to pour into the Planned Parenthood network, and the Margaret Sanger Center in particular, but as that isn’t the case, this review will have to do for the time being.
If you find yourself seeking treatment at the Margaret Sanger Center for any reason, please rest assured, you are in capable, gentle hands.

Came here for a routine yearly appointment and found this location to be my least favorite.
First walking in the lobby was packed and I had trouble even finding a seat to fill out paperwork. A lot of the people sitting around didn’t even look like they had an appointment and were all maybe waiting on someone else but regardless I shouldn’t have to stand.
After about 30mins past my actual scheduled appointment time I was called back into a room. After speaking to the nurse I was brought to another room for the exam, then back into an office. In the office I was asked to fill out more paperwork and answer a series of questions. After all of it I was charged over $ 300 for my appt. Needless to say I haven’t been back since and have no plans to.
Other locations have been cleaner, have more seating, have nicer/​much more pleasant staff, don’t run so behind on appointments, and are not this expensive.

This PP location has a very well-​trained staff. They’re very careful of what they say and always let you know what’s happening. Even on the phone, they were so kind and informed me of everything that was happening and explained all the processes to me. They’re very sensitive/​respectful about confidentiality as well.
I came for an annual checkup. I first called and the person who helped me said they were booked for another 2 weeks. She could have left it at that but she told me to check in the next day and see if I could do a walk-​in and even told me the available locations in the other boroughs. Success, her advice worked and I snagged an appointment after calling early the next day. What great customer service.
Now, the wait time was very long. You go through security, walk through a room, and enter the back door. A no-​fuss process but it’s good to know you’ll be checked [understandably] before coming. I’m sure they don’t want protesters coming in and doing something ridiculous. Although when I went (on a Thursday afternoon), there were no protesters or anything like that. If it’s your first time, you’ll sign a bunch of paperwork and have your insurance/​ID checked. I waited for about 2.5 hours before the doctor saw me. She was very sweet and told me everything that was going on and the processes before she did them.
Results of your testing are all online after you pre-​register and make an account on their online portal. It’s very convenient and I have no complaints other than the 3 hour visit but I was fully prepared for that.

Spoke to a receptionist on December 5 2014, got a appointment for January 3 2015, she informed me without coverage my annual exam will cost $ 175 which include a year worth of birth control, there was financial assistance if I didn’t have insurance. But being that my Obama care kicked in it was okay .one to the day of my appointment the entrance is in the side of the building walked in went threw TSA lrl (not real TSA but there is a medal detector and security guard to search your bag) I was then pointed to the back were I was greeted by a receptionist that informed me she wasn’t able to check me in until 1pm … My appointment was for 1:30. I arrived at 12 no prob I hung out in the lobby were I observed the rush … A lot of people come here from old to young ! Overall I spend 1.5 hours here’s an in that time I saw a do for got a papmear + birth control ! They were really nice an non judgemental, an I must say it was a very organized

In lieu of a situation in which I am without insurance as I wait for a new job to start, I decided to go in to Planned Parenthood to have my annual exam and testing done. I have to admit, prior to going and reading some of these reviews, I wasn’t sure if it was worth a three-​hour wait, protesters and nasty security guards just so I could get my annual on time.
But, honest to God, I was surprised. I had my appointment scheduled for 4 pm, and I showed up at 3:30, thinking I could save some time. It’s probably the time of day, but there were no Biblethumpers, so I saved myself from having useless brochures shoved in my face. Additionally, when going through security, they could not have been more professional. They weren’t overly enthusiastic to see me, nor were they rude — they’re security guards, not Avon representatives.
It was a little odd having to walk through the «male waiting room» or whatever that first room full of men is. They all kind of stare at you and it’s not a great way to start a visit that will probably be full of invasive questions and/​or procedures. But, whatevs. I proceeded to the appointment desk, where the young woman was cordial and welcoming. I filled out some paperwork, waited a bit, and then went up to the third floor to figure out ways for me to pay for services or apply for insurance.
The wait for insurance assistance was long, but the woman who assisted me could not have been kinder. Because my literal «between jobs» situation is so unique, and the new job will not offer health insurance, she was extremely helpful with walking me through the maze that is Affordable Healthcare and even navigated my account to explain key points and structures. It was most definitely not in her job description, and by far the nicest, most patient approach to customer service I have ever experienced. I was expecting a Medicaid-​esque rep who would berate me for everything from quitting my last job with a 2 month gap to questioning my citizenship because my birth certificate is in another language. Not the case at all, and I would highly suggest those visiting to utilize the knowledge these insurance coordinators have.
After that, you are sent back to the first floor to wait some more and meet with a counselor. This is where all the fun, invasive questions come in, and the option for HIV testing. The counselor was quick and to the point because she likely had a busload of people she had to see after me, but, nonetheless, professional and courteous. Some of these questions are not easy to ask, and she was clear that an answer was not necessary if I was uncomfortable.
Finally, there was another wait for the actual nurse practitioner who conducted the exam. I saw Bita, who was just lovely. She was the least judgmental, most informative health professional I’ve yet to see. I highly recommend her, if there is any choice in who you’re able to get in with. She conducted the exam quickly, she made the breast exam as unawkward as possible (no easy feat, all things considered), and the pre– and post-​questions were asked in an open and understanding manner. Not to sound like a broken record, but this clinic and its staff was far friendlier than any other GYN I have ever visited,
The overall visit took close to 2.5 hours, but for low-​cost/​free wellness exams that cover everything to ensure you are healthy in the reproductive area, it was honestly worth it. I would highly recommend this center to any woman who is in need of an exam, testing or counseling. Well done, Planned Parenthood.

OK, so before I begin my review I should mention that I totally support Planned Parenthood and its mission. That being said, I’ve never had a negative experience at a PP. I first started going to the one at Boro Hall, but after I made my online appointment this time, I got scheduled at the Bleecker Street location for my annual check-​up.
My appointment was at 8:45 AM Saturday. I went with one of my guy friends because we wanted wanted to hang out later so he came with me. Of course all the religious nutso protesters thought we were aborting our love-​child together instead of me getting my annual check-​up. As we’re walking to the building, a couple of women accosted my friend, trying to shove pamphlets in his face-​I guess to save us from the sin of my pap smear. After we were safely shuttled in by the pink-​vested Planned Parenthood volunteers, both of us got our bags checked. I don’t really get people complaining about the grumpy security. I mean, I guess they weren’t exceedingly polite, but when are security guards ever that nice?
Anyways, they made my friend sit in the «guy» waiting room while I went in the patient waiting room and filled out some forms. After that I saw the nurse, who I didn’t like too much. First of all, after she weighed me she told me my weight without asking if I wanted to hear it. As someone who has struggled with her eating in the past, I thought it would have been more considerate if she had asked whether or not I had wanted to hear how much I weighed. She also asked how I would react if I was HIV positive after she swabbed my mouth… my answer was «Um, probably not good.» No duh.
However, the doctor I had was really great. Totally friendly when she did my pap and answered any questions I had. Also explained to me what she was doing as she did it and made me feel as comfortable as possible.
Besides the rather unhelpful nurse/​PA /​whatever she was, I had a really good visit and the same goes for the other times I have been to PP at Boro Hall as well.
On a side note, as my friend and I were exiting, I guess the protesters had had more time to assemble and by the time we were walked out, there was a full on cohort of (no joke) monks and priests in full-​on monk garb across the street singing Gregorian chants and holding a huge wooden cross and a picture of Jesus. As we walked out the monks started praying the Hail Mary in unison. My friend said they should save their breath for someone else who wasn’t as for gone as we were. Haha.
But really… their chanting and praying was what prompted me to write this review since I thought it was hilarious, yet at the same time reminded me that we shouldn’t take access to affordable ob/​gyn car for granted.

After two of my coworkers suggested this place I figured it was worth a shot.
I got what I wanted. My doctor was very informative. My insurance covered my visit.
It took me 1hr 10mins from appointment time to the time I left.
Note:
~If you have the time, I would suggest making the appointment online. Their phone lines are busy. You just give them a time frame (certain day to certain day) a time preference (two choices; ie: early morning, mid day, afternoon, etc) and wait a day or two. You’ll receive an appointment; just one time and date (not two or three options now, just one)
~Security at Planned Parenthood will bag check (as in go through your bag) and have you walk through a metal detector.
~I would suggest bringing your own pen. You’ll need to fill out a few forms in different areas.
~When the receptionist ask you «if you have an appointment?» and you say «yes», tell her you have insurance. *I wasn’t asked about whether or not I add insurance so it added 10 minutes to my wait time.
~I was told the best time to go was in the morning when there aren’t too many people before you.
Process:
1. Schedule an appointment.
2. Don’t bring sharp objects or mace; bag check and metal detector walk through.
3. Walk through another two doors, see the receptionist.
4. Give her your ID (and maybe insurance card)
5. Have a seat in the general waiting area
6. When your name is called go back up to the receptionist table and you’ll receive your ID and a clip board with basic information you need to fill out. They have pens available at their desk.
7. Go back to the general waiting area, fill out your paperwork and return it to the receptionist desk to drop off clip board and forms.
8. Your name will be called again, but this time you’ll be told to head to a certain window, this is where you’ll pay for your visit.
***The lady at Window #1 informed me that I should have given my coverage to the «them.» I assume «them» was the receptionist. I was never asked if I had insurance, just whether or not I had an appointment. I wasn’t sure on their procedure so I didn’t ask. If you ask the receptionist, you might be able to cut off 10 – 15 minutes before going to pay. Window #1 Lady took my insurance card & ID and asked me to sit back down. After 10 – 15 minutes in the general waiting area my name was called back again. (I didn’t owe anything)
9.Window lady will give you a folder with the typical OB questionnaire and you’ll be directed to another waiting area.
10. Take a seat in the other waiting area, fill out your paper work, and wait for you name to be called. This time from a nurse
11. The nurse I got was very nice (I wish I got her name) what I didn’t finish on my form she just asked me in person and check the appropriate boxes. This is the place where you specify what you’re there to receive (birth control, yearly, etc) She then sends you back to your waiting area.
***Because my last «monthly visit» was past the world’s «normal» time frame I was told to go upstairs to take a prego test… just protocol. This shaved off another 10 – 15 minutes.
12. The doctor herself will come out and call for you; I had Dr.Kane. She was nice, answered my questions, and told me what was going to happen before doing it. This I find makes a HUGE difference. Poking and prying in silence is creepy.
After that, you’re on your way!
Why the 4 out of 5? This is just based on the time frame it took, but (i assume) that can not be helped, it is after all a clinic so they see a lot of people. They have a great system, well organized, and you don’t stay in any one place for more then 10 minutes.

I have always had a pleasant and helpful experience at Planned Parenthood. So, after I was sexual assaulted for my first time, my first thought was to come here. With no knowledge of how to handle my situation I had expected to receive the care I needed, or at the very least, someone to talk to and confide in.
I was helped by somebody in a nearby office to the reception desk which was vacant. She was not helpful at all and it was completely disheartening. After she told me she wasn’t able to fit me in that day, but in fact two weeks from that day, I left feeling really lost. She told me it was because they were understaffed. Her best advice was to go to the ER, and after I asked where the closest hospital was, she told me «whichever one is in your area».
I was able to find a free HIV clinic (obviously not prepared for first time rape victims) in Brooklyn that was willing to talk to me and help me at the best of their abilities. I doubt I’ll ever seek help at this PP location.
I’m writing this review because I hope others won’t have to experience the same heartache as I felt leaving their office.

I am shocked by some of the negative reviews of this clinic — seriously, people are surprised and upset that there is a security guard at the entrance? Yes, there is security — and thank goodness! Have you never heard of crazy anti-​choice extremists bombing abortion clinics? I for one was quite happy to have to step through a metal detector and have my purse searched.
Also, you can’t just walk in and expect them to automatically give you services for free. If you need financial assistance, they have a screening process and you may very well qualify for reduced cost or free services — but you have to meet with a counselor and bring the required documents (which is really not that big a deal, how can you complain about having to do a little paperwork when you are getting something for FREE?). And if you do get services or BC for free or reduced-​rate, please consider donating money to «give back» if you are ever at a point later in your life when you are able to!
The staff was very helpful and friendly — yes, you have to wait longer than you would at a private doctor’s office, but that’s because you can come here without a referal, without insurance, sometimes without the ability to pay at all, and so naturally they receive a much higher volume of patients.
All of the doctors I have seen here were very professional and friendly — I actually preferred my experience at Planned Parenthood over all my past experiences at the gyno I used to go to back when I had insurance. I came here for an annual, and told the doctor I had been considering getting an IUD sometime in the future… She was so positive and so informative about it that we ended up scheduling an appointment for me to come back and get one as soon as possible (my previous gyno had told me she would have to refer me to another doctor for the procedure!). And my IUD insertion appointment was just as positive an experience — the doctor who did it was very patient and explained everything as she was doing it, taking care to make sure I felt comfortable and answering all the questions I had.
I also didn’t have to wait weeks for an appointment like other people have complained about… I created an account on their website to schedule an appointment, and got one 5 days later. You can also check your lab test results on the website, instead of waiting for them to call you, which I think is pretty awesome.
I recommend Planned Parenthood to everyone I know, and cannot praise them highly enough. We are so incredibly fortunate to have a place like this — don’t ever take it for granted! And seriously, donate money to them if you are ever able to.
