Ali Ozel is the best hair dresser ever. Just go and trust what he recommends! I went there with no idea on what style I wanted, he checked my hair and immediately listed issues I might have had in the past with different styles. I have tick hair. Then, I left entire decision to him. Totally recommended! I will be back.

Oh Pierre Michel, it pains me to write this, as a longstanding client for more years than I prefer to count. But I am straying. Why? Because when I am paying $ 260 plus tips for color (single process plus highlights), I find it objectionable, to say the least, to then be compelled to pay an additional $ 45 (it may be $ 50 now, not sure) for a blowout, plus tip. The option is to blow out your hair yourself, or leave with wet hair. I spend quite a bit of money on personal beauty and maintenance, and i can well afford the additional charge. But there are many high end salons in NYC that don’t do this, a blowout is complementary. This is a large, very impersonal salon, usually quite busy, with an aging clientele. The interior is starting to look a bit dated. Do the stylists do good work? Yes. But so do hundreds of others on the Upper East Side.

I have been going to Yoshie Sakuma for years, following her from one salon to the next, given her outstanding talent, service, and overall awesome experience. If you are looking for the best Japanese straightener in town, Yoshie is by far the best and I have been to many of the so-​called best in NYC. I recommend Yoshie with the highest praise and am confident you will do the same if you try going to her once.

All five stars go to Ali Ozel, the most amazing stylist ever. Been with him for years, and I can always trust him to turn my overgrown locks into something beautiful and fresh, every time!

I when to Pierre Michel Salon because I heard they had great colorists. The desk recommended Allison Postman. Blonds are hard to do, but I left there feeling like a movie star. Allison is the best colorist I have ever been to. I highly recommend her.

ALI OZEL!!! Ali Ozel is the most amazing hair stylist in the world! I rarely write reviews, but perfection deserves recognition. Ali takes care of your hair in a way no one else can or will. He is an extremely talented professional and pays attention to exactly what you want. You will always walk out feeling like a goddess and your hair will never look better.
I have been having my hair cut and styled by Ali for 7 years and will never see anyone else if I can help it. Having lived in several countries in the last 7 years, I have made trips back to NY just to see him from London, Paris and Cape Town. My mom has a standing appointment with him for her annual visits and every friend I have referred is a convert from the first appointment.
He has taken me through so many different phases (yes I went super short and blond once!) and I am always amazed at the depth of his talent and how creative and diverse he is.
Three things distinguish Ali completely and place him way way ahead of any other stylist I have ever encountered. 1. He creates healthy hair. If you know about stylists, you know that some cuts make your hair healthier and Ali knows how to cut your hair to health. 2. Perfect mix of listening to what you want and creative touch. He just gets it. He makes the idea in your head a real and manageable style that you will love. You could know exactly what you want or have no idea and either way, he’ll cut and style your hair exactly as you want and/​or beyond what you had hoped for. I’ve given exact direction and I have also said do whatever you feel like and walked out thrilled every time. 3. Related to 2. He knows how to cut and style resulting in different levels of maintenance depending on what you want and can handle. I’ve had periods where I wanted low maintenance and periods where I knew I would have more time on a daily basis, and I have gotten exactly what I asked for.
From the days when I coloured my hair, he is an amazing colourist as well!
Do yourself a favour and make an appointment to see him. I should have written this review a long time ago, but a combination of not being a reviewer and keeping my treasures for me and my closest, means I have left it this long. For me, his absolute speciality (and I begrudgingly now share it with the world) is his talent at layering. Enjoy looking and feeling absolutely amazing! Thank you, Ali!

What an exceptional salon! Mid-​May I took my grandmother to her doctor’s appointment on Park Ave. It was in the lobby that I offered some assistance to a little French man in filling out his medical forms. He later introduced himself as Pierre, owner of Pierre Michel. What a sweetheart, he offered me a complimentary cut and blow-​dry! The service was phenomenal. As soon as we stepped in, I was offered a heated robe and my choice of drink. The staff was friendly to say the least. So warm and immediately made you feel right at home. I got my haircut done by Mia, who Pierre specifically recommended. Humble, sweet, down-​to-​earth, and beautiful! She was absolutely amazing and a professional within her art. I absolutely recommend her services to anyone willing to pay good money for an even better haircut. Liz, an up-​and-​coming hair stylist, is also one of my favorites. Be sure to request her for services. Phenomenal, bravo Pierre Michel!

Ali is a fabulous hair stylist at the Pierre Michel salon. He is very knowledgeable about Hair and he is not afraid to try new creative funky ideas. He is funny, thoughtful, smart and can create the style you want to the TEE. His coloring techniques also last a long time!
I have also seen Mia, when I need a fresh up cut, and I can tell you she is a great hair stylist. She knows her angles well and makes you feel comfortable as soon as you meet her. When the cut and blow dry are done, you are looking like a star! I am very very picky who I choose to cut my hair. Mia made me feel very comfortable and she did an amazing job giving me a trim exactly the way I wanted it!

Five plus for MIA. I made an appointment based on a Unilocal review. When a curly top comes in and says I want curly wash and go believe me most cutters don’t listen. Mia is fantastic. A block from the salon someone asked where I get my hair cut– can you believe it! When I got home my husband said, «how adorable.» A home run for both Mia and me.

Pierre Michel Salon is an amazing salon! I went there for the first time and got my hair cut by Mia! She is awesome! I have very curly hair and she was able to cut it and give me an amazing blow out! Will definitely come back and recommend the place and Mia to others!

I have been searching for a colorist who can do Balayge highlights since last summer. I was afraid to color it because I have a very long virgin hair A friend of mine recommended me Darren Gelbuda from Pierre Michel. The salon was the biggest hair salon I have even seen. Daren made me feel very comfortable. I showed him picture and he did even better than was on a model! It was fantastic! I’m receiving tons of compliments every day. I wish I could give more than five stars! I got high lights and cut by YOSHIE and I’m loving it! She is a perfectionist and very meticulous! I also got deep conditioning treatment which she recommended and it made my hair alive again (my hair was very damaged from previous highlights from another salon) I highly recommend going to see YOSHIE, she is awesome!

It’s an industrial beauty salon. It feels overwhelming and impersonal if you’re used to a small salon. They have like 60~80 chairs and rows and rows of stations! I went there to get a hair cut from Misin, and I’m perfectly happy with his service. But, if Misin wasn’t there, I’m not sure if I’ll keep returning to this place…

Wonderful salon! Beautiful and comfortable. Easy appointments and I’ve never waited. I adore my stylist Yuki Yamazaki! He takes his time to cut with precision and modern styles. He listens and my hair always looks awesome when I walk out of the salon, and grows out great. I have curly hair that I don’t just leave long and hanging. He told me he cuts my hair to follow the shape of the curl, which on my head is different all over. My curls are bouncy and look healthy. I’ve learned that maintaining curly hair is not just about loading it up with products. It’s about cutting it right. Yuki is the man!

While I have been to the salon several times and it’s perfectly nice and everyone is friendly and pleasant… I really go to see Moulay Yacoubi.
Moulay has been cutting my hair for years and I couldn’t be happier. My hair is a pain in the … to cut. It’s complicated and I have enough hair on my head for at least 2 people, so it requires patience and talent. Not just someone that learned a formulaic hair cut they use over and over again on every client regardless of hair type. My hair needs special attention. Moulay is definitely one of the few stylists I have ever known with the patience and eye for detail to get it right. He really really cares about his clients and his work. I can’t recommend him highly enough.

I have nothing but good things to say about my experience here… then again that’s because I came to this Salon when the lovely Mia joined Pierre Michel.
Mia was at another salon before, and I’m pretty loyal when it comes to blow outs etc. Consistently Mia’s blow outs last much longer than other salons that I’ve been to, and she’s more than happy to tidy you up the second day if you stop back by.
The woman who does makeup here is also fantastic. She did my Makeup for an event the other week and I was thrilled with how the photos turned out. The owner was also very genuine and kind.
Happy to come back here anytime. Not too crazy $$$$$ for the neighborhood considering how much rent should cost. Changing rooms are available if you want to head straight to an event after you leave the salon.
