After many decades of serving Chelsea this business closed in 2014. — another casualty of commercial rent escalations. Husband and wife team worked hard and long.

I’m sorry — but a neighborhood business like this should be open to helping out their local customers. All I asked is for a simple acceptance of an important Fedex package that I had coming. They agreed, and I put the notice on the door to have the package delivered to them. When I came by later to pick it up (after giving them a ton of business as a new customer with a newly bought apartment across the streets, and where I will likely live for years), they told me they refused to sign for the package. Okay — I know — this is not their core business. But its part of being a small business owner in the big city. Show a little love and you get a ton of love. Unfortunately they have lost my business.
But for no reason relating to clothing!

I’ve been coming here for the past couple of months and very pleased and I make a bit of a trek to come here since the neighboring shops STINK and I’ve been to Todd Layne and they were super expensive and rude!
I’m shocked at the below reviews however I’ve been happy and will continue with my service until something horrible happens.

HOW TO DISAPPOINT AND THEN LOSE CUSTOMERS:
On 5÷19÷10, I brought in seven dress shirts, paid by credit card, and asked that Piermont deliver them the next day. YES. OF COURSE. NO PROBLEM. PLEASE COME AGAIN.
The shirts were not delivered the next day. Which means that on 5/​21, when I left at 6 am for a week-​long trip, I did not have the shirts I needed.
People make mistakes – even our President admits he’s made a few. But when I returned to Piermont following my trip, the manager insisted they had not made a mistake. Instead, he suggested that *I* had made a mistake.
Now, Piermont has 100s of customers, but I have only one dry cleaner. So my memory of this is pretty vivid: WALK IN ON WED, ASK FOR DELIVERY ON THURS.
What should a business owner do if he or she makes a mistake, Unilocal members? APOLOGIZE, first, and then MAKE IT RIGHT. It’s really so simple to keep customers happy, even crabby, fussy, spoiled, particular New Yorkers. Piermont did not apologize and did not offer to make it right. A small gesture or two and they would still have me as a customer.
Instead:
When the charge from Piermont comes up on my credit-​card bill, I’ll dispute it with VISA. And I won’t go back to Piermont.

My boyfriend took my work shirts (that are basically mens shirts) with his on about 5 separate occasions and they charged them with his as a stack of shirts.
For this, they charge $ 1.75 each.
I was telling him how many cleaners charge more for womens clothes and he couldn’t believe it. So he took my shirts this time, said they were womens and… what do you reckon? They charge $ 6.50 each… for two ‘blouses’. even though they aren’t ‘blouses’ at all.
So that was our experiment… could not believe they charge THAT much more! Anyway. we went to pick up the two shirts of mine that came to a total of $ 13.00 and we were also dropping off one of my other shirts with a stack of his. They REFUSED to do my shirt as a mens. Even though it had been done like this many times before.
On comparing the difference between the mens shirts and the womens and how they were done… the womens shirts were not even pressed nicely or as crisp as the mens and were not finished as good. I could have got the same result washing and ironing myself.
Not only that, after working out that over the years my boyfriend has probably given this business around $ 10,000 in cleaning — and this is the way they treat their ‘regulars’? Pfft.
They also rip off when it comes to cleaning blankets… where they consider cleaning a polar fleece blanket at the same thing as cleaning a quilt?
Go elsewhere to get looked after properly.

Had a pair of jeans hemmed here and they did a great job. I was very specific on how I wanted them done because they were expensive and they did exactly what I asked. It came out extremely neat and well finished and I was very happy. I will happily take back all of my clothes to be tailored here and highly recommend them for premium denim alterations so long as you know exactly what you want.
My tip: don’t attach the original hem. Ask them to recreate it and it comes out much cleaner.
