A place has to be either really great or REALLY disappointing for me to take the time to write a review these days. I just wanted a simple protein-free salad. The menu is massive and I didn’t see any salad that was close to the simple little salad I wanted. So, I asked the cashier if I could just tell him what I wanted. He said sure. I decided on Romaine, carrot, cucumber, avocado and beets. And, I told him I wanted it chopped, not tossed. He said they would«try» to chop it. I told him if they couldn’t chop it(really?) that I didn’t want to order anything.(I can get a chopped salad at 3+ places within a few blocks. I was ready to move on.) He said they’d chop it. I believed him. I ordered Kalamato olives. «Okay,» he said, «black olives.» «No,» I said. «Green?» «No, we only have black.» «Then, no olives.»(So weird…) Then, came the choice of dressing. They have like, 15+ crazy dressing flavors like lime and moonstruck or some thing(but no olives other than black??), plus Ranch dressing and an Italian I think. But no French, no Russian. Neither. Seriously? This is NYC. Every deli/restaurant/salad place I’ve ever been, has either, or both. I told him no dressing at all. I decided I’d simply use the dressing I have at home. I was surprised at the total of $ 10.03, when so many salads on the menu(including protein/meat) were under $ 10. But I paid it, plus the change went into the tip jar. I thought, «This must be a great salad. Glad I decided to try this place…» I left for a few minutes and returned to pick it up to take home. Got settled at home and opened it, not 15 minutes after it was made, and I cannot even begin to tell you how surprised I was with what a horrible salad this is(tossed, not chopped, surprise surprise…). I had to take photos before I throw it away. Yes, it’s THAT bad. Why? Because not only did they actually put canned beets on it, leaving the entire thing covered in beet juice(so disgusting), the shredded carrot doesn’t even look peeled. Even cheap little Park Terrace Deli perks their carrots and uses fresh chopped beets! I’ve never even seen canned beets used at a salad place, unless they offer you both, a choice between fresh or canned. But the pinnacle of failure, this«fresh food» place has the oldest, most limp lettuce I’ve ever been served, anywhere. Their lettuce, more wilted than the romaine I have in my frig right now that is already three days old(hence, I decided to pick up a salad versus the grocery store tonight.) Literally, 90% of the lettuce in this salad is either really old, or they used the outside leaves of the romaine after it was sitting out on a counter for hours on end. That’s NEVER happened to me anywhere I’ve ever ordered a salad. Plus, some of the edges are black, like it was cut(not chopped) up with a metal knife hours ago. Every salad/deli I’ve been to in Manhattan knows to either tear lettuce, or cut it with plastic or wood, never metal. Anyway, I’m tired now… I’m out 11 bucks with no dinner to boot. I’ll never stop at this place again. I’m shocked they’re even in business. No wonder none of my neighbors had mentioned it. I thought it was because it was still pretty new. Apparently, it’s because it sucks. In fact, I’m blown away to see it has an average, 4-star rating. They must have good hummus or soup or something… But, if you offer salad, you need to use FRESH lettuce, know how to chop a salad, and carry normal salad dressings and FRESH ingredients, not canned. This was my punishment for not just sticking with my little Park Terrace deli. I order from them through Unilocal Eat24. They have a great«Make Your Own» salad(with choices of fresh beets, Kalamato olives AND they carry French dressing), plus a little homemade mac and cheese for under two bucks. Large, CHOPPED, FRESH salad, a little Mac and cheese, plus delivery fee and tip? Literally, the SAME price as this 11-buck«thing» I was served this evening. Hope this is useful for anyone in the neighborhood who loves a crisp, fresh, chopped salad. Don’t go here!

Really good food, bad service. People working there seem to have a bad attitude in general. One time I was waiting for my order and witnessed a older women asking for more syrup for her pancakes and the person behind the counter said no! She pleaded and explained she wanted more syrup, like come on just giver her syrup! They eventually gave her more but acted like it was the biggest deal… After that and among other situations I was kind of turned off from the place

Was just there and ordered a Southwest Caribbean Turkey burger. This is the 2nd time they forgot the guacamole, which makes me think that they are trying to be cute and cheap. It smelled moldy in the shop today and not clean. I really want this place to be good, and the food is… However it is half-assed every time I order and missing items. A few weeks ago they didn’t have gluten free wraps. It’s always something. I think they need to step up their game.

Fantastic they are opening more healthfood stores, especially in Inwood/Washington Heights. I really like the Garden Burger on seven grain bread and the Super Detoxifier juice. Staff is always very friendly. Great addition to the neighborhood.

I have been a longtime fan of the Pick & Eat at 177th and was stoked when I saw them opening up in Inwood. I have a lot of friends who live in the area and was happy to direct them to a new neighborhood hot spot for good, healthy and never disappointing food. Im one for the simple but goodies, so try the 4 cheese quesadilla if you want to be filled and satisfied.

What a GREAT addition to this neighborhood. This may be the sole consistent establishment in this area. I have only ordered for delivery. No matter what I order(smoothie, burritos, sandwiches, pizza) it’s always delicious! So happy you’re here!

Staff wasn’t very friendly, not rude, but not very friendly. I ordered a chicken wrap. I thought it would have been grilled slices of chicken but it was shredded and pretty dry. For 8 bucks it was very small. Pizza was also ok, nothing special. If you gave it to someone and told them it was an NY pie they might laugh at you. As of now on their website if you click menu it just shows you their locations.

Our company has ordered lunch catered twice now, and Pick and Eat has exceeded all expectations each time. The customer service was friendly and accommodating. The delivery was timely and efficient. Most importantly, the food was so delicious! They also well-stock you on napkins, plates, and utensils. We definitely recommend P&E!

Pick & Eat opens on 207th and Broadway(where La Piñata used to be). Huge variety on the menu and so far anything I’ve had from there has been slammin’. Sandwiches, pastas, salads, wraps, burgers… Very good stuff here. Never been to the one up by the 170’s but quality and taste is consistently good here. Quantity of food is filling too. Hopefully they’ll have what it takes to survive on that cursed corner… Prices aren’t so bad either. Pretty inexpensive actually.

You guys need to improve, for the sake of humanity. I’ve ordered your ground turkey with guacamole wrap: You forgot to include the best part, the guacamole. lol. I found that hilarious, but sad. Please don’t charge me $ 13 in Inwood, and forget the most expensive ingredient in my mushy $ 13 wrap. I gave them another chance tonight, and ordered the L1: Ground turkey platter with brown rice, black beans, and a salad. Guys, I felt like this came straight out of a high school cafeteria. I sat inside eating it sadly with confusion as to why I ONCEAGAIN paid $ 13, like an idiot. The greens were definitely not organic, and the brown rice was on the dry side. Also, you added cranberries and burnt chickpeas into my brown rice. why? Keep it simple and fresh, please. Lastly, the black beans came in a little soup cup looking bowl, where it was all bean sauce, and maybe 3 forks worth of black beans. I was just really sad that I spent $ 13. I feel very stupid once again. Third times a charm they say. I’ll give this place a month before I come back in to try something different on the menu again, in hopes of an organic and fresh outcome. I hope they improve, because the menu sounds like a dream come true. Unfortunately, the actual orders come out giving an opposite reaction.

I freaking LOVE this place, and having been to the one on 175th I was so happy to see it open up here in my neighborhood. There’s a ton of gluten free options(wraps, pasta, meals with rice, not just salad), juices for the juice crowd, good coffee, and nice people. They did a great job furnishing and decorating the restaurant, and I love the big windows to watch the people on Broadway and 207 go by. The kitchen is downstairs, which is kind of nice in contrast to the other location. It’s quiet in the dining area, and definitely less cramped than the 175th street location. I can’t wait to get delivery, this is an amazing and affordable addition to the neighborhood. Best of luck to the owners!

The menu for this place seemed amazing, and truthfully, the food was pretty decent. The problem is the service. My bf and I called in our order for delivery last night and first, the guy gave us a hard time about a substitution of meat for tofu(which he eventually agreed to), then another hard time for wanting to pay with a card over the phone(they probably use Square and didn’t want to pay the extra fee), then when the food arrived, the order we asked for tofu in STILL had chicken, and they completely forgot my soup. We called about the soup and they said«We will see what we can do.» …And by that they meant they were keeping our $ 2.50 for the soup and not giving us squat. Judging by the stellar reviews, either everyone reviewing works there, or, maybe the service is better in person. Delivery… not so much. Not ordering from them again.

Great food, fast delivery, not crazy expensive and no problems ordering on seamless. Ordered the whole wheat linguini with pesto sauce from the choose your create pasta option and a brownie for dessert. I thought it would be small and I’d still be hungry but I could barely finish it. Will definitely be trying more of their food.

The amount of hope I have for this place cannot be overstated. Though still relatively new to the neighborhood myself, I’ve been made abundantly aware that this location seems to have a bit of a history — places moving in and out, high turn over, lots of failures, and so on. Pick & Eat, though, seems like it has what it’ll take to change that. Admittedly, I’ve only eaten here once, but I’ve been waiting for them to open since the day I moved in. When they finally opened their doors I was stoked, and with reason it would seem. I tried the Black & White pasta, not really knowing what to expect — I mean. pasta with black beans? Seems a little weird. And it was, but in the best way possible. I can safely say that it was one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. I ordered it specifically intending to only have half so that I wouldn’t have to pack a lunch for the next day. While I did manage to save some it was a struggle — this meal is delicious. I also ordered the lentils. They were delicious… but god that pasta. On top of all of this(really… eat that pasta!) the delivery was incredibly fast, food was warm and the gentleman who brought me the food was very polite. I’m used to just having food thrust at me as the«driver» hurries off to complete the rounds(I understand why, not saying that I blame them), so this was a nice change. The price is great and the dishes are delivered in sturdy, clean containers. Above all, probably, I really appreciate the gigantic variety on the menu — particularly the vegetarian options. It’s a little difficult to find meat-free food in this area, and very difficult to find a variety, so I adore that everything on the Pick & Eat menu is clearly marked(this is especially helpful when you get down to things like the soups which often say they’re veggie, but are made with beef or chicken broth). Really… the variety is gigantic, and even though I don’t eat it I truly appreciate that the company puts in the time and effort to obtain humanely raised meat. It’s nice to see this kind of dedication coming to the Inwood/Washington heights area. Let’s hope this high quality is kept up!

Welcome to Inwood Pick and Eat. One order over Seamless & I was impressed. Fast delivery & everything I ordered was remarkably good. The grilled chicken tacos were like the ones I had in southwest California … great tortillas. Salad was also great. Oh and I’m glad you have unsweetened iced tea. I’ll be ordering from you guys regularly. Thanks so much for coming to the neighborhood.

Wow — just wow… I’m a pessimist — I’m a cynic — I’m a grouch. I hate yuppies. I hate hipsters. I hate foodies. I really hate what the nightclub mafia has done to our neighborhood in the past decade. I’m skeptical about«healthy options», «fusion cuisines», and pretty much anything marketed as «modern» or «efficient». High praise for me for food options around here is «pretty good for the hood», «Inwood adequate», etc. Basically if it tastes ok, doesn’t make us sick, and isn’t a front for money laundering clubs it’s probably as much as we can hope for. Until this place… I’d heard that the original Pick and Eat was supposed to be really good. But I figured that was«really good compared to…», «alright for the neighborhood», «ok if you stay away from the…», etc… No… Pick and Eat is awesome. Pick and Eat is delicious. Pick and Eat is the best thing to open around here in the 21 years I’ve lived in Inwood. Pick and Eat isn’t just good by local standards. It’s insanely delicious by any standard. So far we’ve had garden burgers, salads, quesadillas, pizzas, and soup. Everything has been unbelievably good. Everything has been extremely fresh. The recipes are all Dominican/Latino influenced and a lot of the combinations are not things I’d naturally think of as going together(like maduros on pizza) — but everything we’ve tried so far works perfectly. None of it tastes like an experiment. Whoever created these recipes is brilliant. The whole place and menu are obvious labors of love. Everything is set up to allow maximum choice and allow substitutions of anything for anything. The ingredients are primarily healthy and everything is labeled so that people can plan their diets easily. Ordering is computerized and the kitchen is extremely efficient. Staff are exceptional. Everyone we’ve encountered there has been extremely nice, fluent in both English and Spanish, and extremely efficient. Everything seems to be functioning very smoothly despite being very busy and only open a few weeks. Just can’t say enough positive about this place. My usual Unilocal reviews are five lines long, but no amount of praise could do this place justice. If there is any justice in this world, this place will not only be a huge success but will multiply. Once it gets on grubhub and/or gets its own web ordering up it will be unstoppable. No joke — if I had any money and this place went public I’d buy all the stock I could. It’s _that_good and _that_unique. Thank you thank you thank you Pick and Eat!

At long last, the southeast corner of 207 and Broadway is once again occupied! Pick & Eat is a most welcome addition to the increasingly diverse dining options in Inwood. P&E’s menu is large and consists of numerous healthy, natural, and fresh items, including pastas, pizzas, paninis/burgers/wraps, and salads. They have a lot of smoothies and fresh juices to boot. The interior is modern, fresh, and simple. You order at the counter and then take a seat to wait for your order to be called. The staff members are friendly and helpful. We tried the whole wheat pancakes and the Garden Burger. The pancakes were excellent and tasted homemade. They were a delicious consistency and neither too cakey nor flat. The real standout was the chickpea burger. The patty is homemade, moist, and very nicely seasoned. The lettuce and tomato is crisp and fresh. The sauces are *DELICIOUS* and very, very flavorful. I love the contrasting flavors in the garden burger – the sweetness of the plantain with the smokiness of chipotle and heat of jalapeño, cooled with creamy guacamole. The side of baked tortillas are a real treat. The fresh juice I ordered was fantastic. I can’t wait to try more of Pick’s offerings, especially their pizza. The kid next to us ordered one and it looked really good. Fingers crossed for this new, great restaurant!
