Park Avenue Audio

Had a great experience here yesterday. I recently upgraded my speakers and proceeded to blow out the capacitors on my aging amplifier. I tried out a few other amplifiers and wasn’t happy with the sound quality.
My research had already suggested the Rotel RA-​12 would be a good option, and happily they are stocked at Park Audio. I spent an hour going over my preferences, my set up and what I’d tried, and explaining my specific requirements.
It was a really relaxing and engaging experience and I felt like the staff really understood exactly what I was looking for and didn’t talk down to me even though I wasn’t going to spend anywhere near the high-​end of their customer base. I wasn’t aggressively upsold on more amplifier than I needed even though my upper bound on price was probably twice as much as what I spent. A brief price comparison suggested I got a very fair price on the amplifier as well!
I hope to come back soon the next time I need some audio equipment, or maybe just to relax and hang out and listen to some music in their beautiful showrooms.

Every time I’ve ever been here the staff has been SOOOOO great and super kind.
I come in to browse whenever I’m in the area and have time to spare. I always make it clear that I’m just browsing/​killing time and these guys NEVER hesitate to still spend time with me, chat me up and let me demo the super high-​end equipment.
Wanna try headphones? no problem, they let me try six pairs for over an hour.
Wanna sample $ 1500 speakers… no problem? Done and done.
In the same visit try $ 22K speakers NO PROBLEM they let me sit there until I was ready to leave.
On my last visit one of the owners, Dennis, gave me a tour of the ENTIRE space (even the yet to be finish parts they’re going to soon expand into) he let me sample even more speakers and headphones and even chatted with me about the art they hang on the walls.
He even sat with me as I wasted time listening to speakers in each room and we held great conversation.
It was clear the entire time that I was just browsing! And yet he took the time to really «hang-​out».
As I younger guy who’s budget couldn’t only gain access to about 10% of what they offer I was so flattered to be treated as though I was a long time FRIEND and customer there to purchase his second $ 70K system from Park Ave.
Dennis is a stand up guy and he seriously made my day. This was a 10 star experience!
I’ve had very good experiences with other members of the staff on other experiences to!
Stay away from STEREO EXCHANGE (Soho) and go to PARK AVE AUDIO!!!

I am surprised how a few of these negative ratings could be possible at Park Avenue, but they do unfairly skewed the overall rating. I had an excellent experience last year. These folks– Dennis, Jack, Giselle, Armando, Mark, Tom are knowledgeable, flexible, serious with what they do but very cordial and respectful. They took much time to advise me and let me take as much time I wanted to come to my own decision — no pushiness, just great advice. Tom and Armando set up my system perfectly with extreme care. And if I have to put it in money terms to prove my point, I spent 5 – 6 times of what I initially planned as I came to my own decisions over several months (two purchases to get my dream combination) with NO pushy salesmanship. Now I am perfectly happy — actually happier by the day with my audio system. So I feel strongly to share my story to be fair.

I recently came from Brazil to study Music Production here in New York city. Went to Park Avenue Audio to buy a pair of headphones. I was very well received and treated. I asked the salesman, Armando, of my return dates. He said clearly «three months». I even confirmed with him, «really»? He said «Yes». Ok then. Got the headphones and begun testing it for my studio use. After two months I went to the store to return it. The headphones wasn’t appropriate for my studio use. Came to Armando and told him I was there to return it, he said, ok, let me talk to the manager. Then the manager, Dennis, came with him saying that they will not give my money back because they never said «three months» to me. «We don’t do business like this», as if I was supposed to know how they do business. After some arguing, Dennis raised the voice, trying to intimidate me. They even tried to tell me I got confused. And Armando kept saying that he would never say this and blah blah blah. Dennis told me that I should have read the small prints. I TOOK THE MAN’S WORD. And a man’s worth is only his word’s worth. I think there’s no MAN in Park Avenue Audio, because the words spoken inside that place doesn’t count. I’m now stuck with a very expensive and useless pair of headphones (they are not suited for studio use, because of the warmth and coloration the give to the sound) because I trusted the salesman Armando, who, by the way, didn’t express at least a little bit of confusion when I stepped in the store and remembered him of his words.

Been buying from Park Ave Audio since 2004. Staff is helpful and really know the products they sell. The «new» location (West Side of Park Ave) is beautiful. Highly recommend Park Ave Audio for high end systems and beautiful installs. If you’re looking for a 30inch LG TV, this is not your place, but if you are looking for a high quality home theater experience, I would highly recommend Park Ave. Audio.

As I said on another review. After dumping $ 35,000.00 on a system in 2006 they have been rude and unprofessional. It almost seems that it’s a cover for another operation. Because I truly don’t know how they get any business! Every time I called for service I would have to call as least 3 to 4 times to get a life sign out of these Dead People. Then they come and say the system is antiquated and when you want to purchase new components they NEVER call back, after just being at our house and saying they will call right when they get back to their office. DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY! Maybe that’s why they had to move from the corner location on Park Avenue, into a cheaper rental space. Hopefully the next stop will be a refrigerator box!

STAY AWAY FROM THIS STORE. I went in to buy a pair of headphones, great sound on the headphones btw. But right from the moment I walked into the store they didn’t seem like they cared if I was there. I bought the pair, and found it was a little bigger for my head and wanted to know what could be done. After calling the store 3 times, going to the store twice all that they could tell me was they could not do anything. On asking to see the manager, the store clerk walked into the other room for 15mins and comes back saying the manager is not around i.e. literally seeing him walk into the room 15 mins earlier.

Be careful They sold my friend a $ 50k turn-​key super system years ago and when it recently stopped working they told my friend the audiophile amplifier needed to be replaced. I just replaced the blown $ 2 fuse on the amp (which they claim they checked). Works fine now. Shame on you.

Used Park Avenue Audio about a dozen years ago, and was very pleased with the service. However when we were having issues with the TV and decided to buy a new one, the in-​store staff was rude, unhelpful, and did not seem to even want our business. They were slow in calling us back, and if we hadn’t used them originally we would have not even thought twice about going back. But they did such a good job with the complicated installation the first time around, that we opted to use them again. However the rudeness of the staff is just too much to overcome; I haven’t been treated with respect once, they were slow to call back, and things still are not perfect, however they don’t care. Once we paid up, they were done with us. They do sell quality products, albeit at higher prices than elsewhere, and the technician, Greg, who they sent out to do the install was super nice and helpful, and he is the reason I am giving them two stars instead one (want to differentiate between the in-​store customer sales reps and the technicians).
I would not recommend using them, and I only hope that everything goes as smoothly as it can from here on out, because the last thing we want to do is have to call them up and try to get them to come out and help us with any potential problems.

This was a really good electronics store with a very nice staff. I passed by their location a couple of weeks ago and it looks like they went out of business. It’s hard for specialty stores such as this one to survive in this economic climate. Sad but true.

I had the pleasure of buying a Marantz NR1603 from Park Ave Audio and I could not have been more pleased with my buying experience.
I spoke with my sales representative over the phone (forgive me for not remembering his name) who spent 10 minutes describing the exact advantages and features of the 1603 over the 1403. It was great service.
When I went in the next day to pick it up, everything went off without a hitch. As noted, the prices are a bit steep but it’s NYC and it’s some pretty top level audio brands so that’s to be expected.
Overall, if you’re looking to buy a higher range audio system for your home and the time to sit down and listen to different speakers/​subs/​receivers (they have 2 listening rooms set up)…Park Ave Audio is a real good bet.

Park Ave installed a fully automated system in my house, with the utmost expertise and great service. Evan was very responsive to all the questions and problems that I had and easy to work with. They are a bit pricey, but for a peace of mind, knowing that all their installations will work properly and if any problems do arise someone will be there to help, it’s worth the price. I will go back to them for any future projects that I might have.

Went in for a simple turntable cartridge replacement. I don’t know too much about high end stereo equipment, just needed a cartridge and some info on installing it. Staff was super helpful, not at all pretentious, even though I was only spending about $ 60. They answered my newbie questions, said to call if i had any trouble during the installation.
If i am in the market for some intense hifi equipment, this would be the first place I would go.

I just got back from a 2 hour visit to Park Avenue audio and I have to say the service is amazing and the products they carry are high quality.
In particular, Luciano went above and beyond to help me choose the right system. He waited patiently while I auditioned various systems (I was deciding between the B&W CM9 and 805d), explained the different trade offs I would be making depending on which amps/​speakers/​cables/​DACs/​etc that I chose, he even went step by step to explain which cables would go where in my new set up, and was just all around great. I’ve been to Best Buy and a variety of other retailers and the service here was head and shoulders above them all.
Knowledgable, not pushy at all, patient, and competitively priced — what more could you ask for?

Helpful staff with a good setup. They have B&W, Monitors, Gallo, Definitive, Sonos Faber, McKintosh to name a few brands. They have a nice setup for you to listen to and they are extremely knowledgeable. Recommended if you are in the market for audio equipment.

Very professional sales and installation staff. Patient and they don’t try to force particular products or brands down your throat.

Stopped in to get some advise on some audio gear, the staff was very friendly, helpful, and took the time to go through a bunch of points with a demonstration, even though I said I was only looking — something you just can’t get online. Prices are steep, but it’s park ave man… eh, your call — real helpful staff though…
