Great work. Francesco showed up and blew us away with his ideas and gumption, then did really lovely work. Worth every penny. Couldn’t be happier.

Francesco and his crew absolutely blew me away with their work. I hired Francesco to paint and caulk EVERYTHING in my pre-​war apartment, put in new baseboard and build a furnace cover. I got several bids and Francesco was the only one to take the time to list the price of everything on his bid… every single thing he would use in the job. He worked with me on scheduling, started the day he said he would and finished ahead of time. He is very easy to work with and just as nice as can be. Nothing is a problem to him. His work turned out to be exquisite. A pre war apartment has layers upon layers upon layers of paint throughout and the moldings look very «chunky». Because of Francesco’s precision, the walls, moldings, doors and ceilings look amazingly fresh and new. My run-​down apartment is now stunning. I let him pick my baseboard because he is such an artist and I was just thrilled with his pick. Thank you so much Francesco. You have added so much value to my home!

Francesco and his crew repainted my condo and installed crown molding on a tight deadline. The job was completed on the agreed date for the quoted price and the work was high quality. I have a couple of other projects in mind and it’s great knowing there’s a contractor that I can trust to do the work quickly, efficiently, and leave my home clean. The only downside as mentioned on other Unilocal reviews is that Painter Carpenter is very busy. However, Francesco was upfront with me on what he can and cannot do and I can’t really fault him for being in demand. It’s to be expected with the attention to detail and level of craftsmanship demonstrated by his crew.

I recently used Francesco and his crew for a touch up paint job as well as installing a bathroom mirror. I used him on the basis of his Unilocal reviews, and I can only echo what many others had said. He is extremely professional, courteous, neat and deadline oriented. My only complaint is that I have had a hard time getting an estimate from him to do a second job for me. I have a feeling he’s swamped, but he should let me know that he’ll get back to me by a certain date rather than responding only after multiple attempts or not all. But this complaint is minor given I’m not in a rush, and he knows that. I will continue to use Francesco gladly!

My experience with Francesco was outstanding. I had a fire in my apartment and was anxous to have an estimate and start date right away. Francesco agreed to meet the day after I contacted him and had the quote the same date. Similarly, he was ready and willing to start the job right away. For other reasons, I did not use Francesco, however, I did want to share my very positive exerience regarding his responsiveness and willingness to start work right away.

We wanted our condo painted and some plaster repair done prior to moving in and are so grateful we found Francesco on Unilocal.Francesco and his team transformed our apartment into something that exceeded our expectations. They worked through a blizzard, freezing rain and sub-​zero temperatures and still gave us daily updates AND completed the job on time, including immaculate clean up. BRAVO.
Francesco has an artist’s eye for detail and perfection. He’s also incredibly patient as we went through several color changes, one of them at literally the last minute– and it didn’t seem to phase him. He was completely professional throughout, and keeps a sense of humor and calmness which really helps when you’re moving. We really appreciate Francesco’s honesty. We wanted something «different» in the bathroom and had purchased wallpaper. Francesco explained the reasons he thought the paper was a bad idea, but wasn’t critical. After researching the matter we discovered Francesco was totally right on. The paper would have been problematic down the line. Best of all, he came up with the perfect solution — a beautiful glaze! It covers the entire room including the ceiling and looks like designer wallpaper. The details are amazing! (see photo) .
Needless to say, we can’t wait to bring him back for our next project. Did I mention it was a great experience!

My husband and I reached out to Francesco for repairs (as opposed to renovations) in our small, Inwood apartment. We wanted to hire someone who had great references, was accountable and helpful and smart and who charged a fair price that was reasonable. We got everything we wanted in Francesco! Tiles were falling off our shower wall, the loose fit a product of old fire-​damage and shoddy repairs by the previous owners. And our sink vanity was in need of replacement after water damage from a flood, And we had a leaky faucet. You get the picture. Francesco came in and – on time and on budget! – fixed it all. In just two short days, our shower and new sink look amazing! The tiles are solidly backed and retiled, with neat grouting. One cannot tell there was a flood from looking at our bathroom, particularly our expertly installed new vanity/​sink.
Francesco was courteous beyond compare (incredibly prompt too, yet always offering to come back in a few minutes or so, if WE were running late!), professional, fairly-​priced, quick to respond to any questions (even in the follow-​up phase), true to his time and cost estimates, and very friendly (as was his team). We could not recommend anyone more highly than we recommend Francesco. And as soon as we save up more money we’re bringing him back for the next job.
UPDATE (1÷18÷2014) — We called Francesco back for something related to our last project (removing a soap dish we did not want any longer, and tiling over the affected area), and he was very prompt in replying and setting up a time which worked for us. Our shower somehow looks even better than after his first visit!

Francesco is absolutely the best of the best! He and his crew have painted every room in our apartment and his meticulous work is evident from the start.
The prep work is key. Francesco spends an exorbitant amount of time taping and securing plastic over the walls, floors and surrounding areas to protect from any wayward drops or strokes. He leaves every job spotless!
This has been all the more evident on the latest job Francesco completed for us. We irrationally hired a different «specialty painter» to paint a stripe pattern in the challenging stairwell in our apartment. We are the first to point out that this job is difficult at best. The stairwell is at least 15′ high and scaffolding had to be arranged on the steps in a pretty treacherous maneuver. Needless to say the job by the inferior painters (see other review for more details) was botched in spectacular fashion.
We called Francesco for damage control, hat in hand, embarrassed we didn’t use him from the start since he has done such extensive work for us in the past. Long story short– he saved the day. We ended up scratching the ill-​attempted stripes and went for a faux finish that looks like our wall are made of beautiful suede!
Bottom line– not only did Francesco do an amazing job he also generously touched up all the nicks, scratches and other careless mistakes left behind by his sub par predecessor. He is such a perfectionist I shouldn’t have expected any less!

Francesco and his crew at Painter and Carpenter did an outstanding job renovating our apartment! I cannot say how glad I am to have found them here on Unilocal.The renovation involved demolishing old walls and concrete floors, and building new walls, doorways, installing new hardwood floors, and refinishing the walls. They also stripped off the old paint from doors and jambs, and made new shelving in three closets. They do what they do extremely well, straight lines, beautiful finishes everywhere. I am so happy that they finished the interior of the closets just as perfectly as the exterior. Thanks to them, we’ll be able to utilize the space in our apartments much more efficiently.
Anybody would be fortunate to work with Francesco. He has great communication skills and problem solving skills. One day I emailed him late at night telling him I want sound insulation inside a wall. The next day he went to the store first thing in the morning, and showed up with the material we needed. He is capable of solving problems very efficiently, which allows him to be very flexible. We had to change our decisions several times with the wall layout, but he handled the changes with minimal (apparent) stress. He always went out of his way to let us have exactly what we want, and now the apartment has everything I dreamed of and more!

does extremely high quality work at reasonable prices. My finance and I hired Francesco and his crew to fix some of the cracks in our crown moulding and to replace a section that had been shoddily «repaired» by a previous work crew. Francesco went out of his way to replace the two sections of moulding with one extra long piece, even though that meant that he had to walk up 10 flights of stairs (because the piece of moulding wouldn’t fit in the elevator). Fransceco also completed the job under his estimated budget and in less time, which was a welcome change from other experiences with repair/​restoration work. I should also note that we live in a Manhattan coop, and Fransceco was very easy to work with in terms of completing the necessary paper work and providing proof of insurance.
We are 100% satisfied with work and found Fransceco to be friendly, professional, and very easy to work with. We would recommend him without reservation.

I contacted Francesco about doing painting and carpentry in my apartment. His professionalism and excitement about his work was immediately evident. I knew he was going to be the contractor I chose because, when I told him I was looking for something Rustic Tuscan, he immediately said, Well there are three ways of achieving that effect — sponge technique, sandbrushing technique, and Venetian plaster. He listed the relative costs as well as the advantages and disadvantages of each. Next time we met (maybe two or three days later), he showed up with large samples of each technique with a couple different color options and variations. I liked that Francesco was always on time and made it a point to be helpful, professional, and polite during every interaction.
Things continued to run smoothly as insurance certificates were provided and work began. Any time there was an unexpected issue — such as a pipe in a surprising place that would affect the placement of a mirror cabinet — Francesco would call to let me know and we would meet. He was very self-​sufficient and completed the work at a good pace.
Francesco applied Venetian plaster — one shade of yellow in the living room and a different shade of yellow in the bedroom, hallway, and foyer. He painted the bathroom and kitchen with semi-​gloss celery green paint. In the bathroom, he repaired a water-​damaged ceiling, took out an old and ailing mirror, rebuilt some of the wall as necessary, and installed a new beautiful mirror/​medicine cabinet and light fixture.
I told him before the job started that I wanted those Venetian plaster walls to look like a work of art. Francesco met and exceeded those high expectations. I believe Francesco is already in high demand and foresee him being in only higher demand in the very near future. We are probably catching what will soon be a very renowned interior painter/​craftsman early in his career.

This contractor was professional, reliable, honest and easy to work with.
I live in murray hill and my condo had a bathroom leak that caused water damage to my neighbor below me. The leak damaged their bathroom ceiling/​wall as well as the foyer wall. For 2 months I called and got estimates from other contractors who were either not interested in a small job, not fair in pricing, never answered my calls or were not professional looking.
I finally looked in Unilocal and liked the ratings Unilocal gave Francesco and was not disappointed in calling him. Francesco was quick in getting me a fair/​true estimate and the contract/​insurance in order to start the job. He also started plastering and painting as soon as he was allowed. Today, I am glad to see that Francesco not only finished the job in only 2 day, but has also made me and my neighbor happy with the professional, clean and courteous job he performed.
I highly recommend him. I will call him again if I need any painting in MY OWN apartment.

Francesco just finished painting my one-​bedroom UES apartment. I got painting estimates from Unilocal’s top 5 recommendations. He showed up to give me a quote on-​time, he sent me a clear invoice the next day — including options to paint the ceiling and trim to work with my budget, and most importantly, he did a fantastic job. If you want someone to do a job well and quickly, he’s your guy.
Bonus: he’s a super-​cute Italian — so that never hurts!

Francesco came to my apt to give a painting estimate about a month ago. He said he’d send a quote to me via email. Well I’m still waiting for that estimate. Perhaps they don’t need my business but this can’t be a good way to run theirs.

Unfortunately, I cannot give Francesco the same 5 star review as everyone else. I called him a couple of weeks ago to come to my 2 bedroom duplex apartment. My husband and I wanted to paint everything. He told us he could do one room, but the rest would have to wait until «later» as he had a big job coming up. Fine. No problem. True to his word, he painted the one room we chose as a priority (the nursery), and he did a great job. My husband and I were pleased, and asked him when we could anticipate him coming to do the rest of the apartment. He told us he would get back to us via email.
Well…one week passed, and I hadn’t heard from him. So I sent him an email thanking him again for his work on the nursery and asking when he could anticipate having the time to do the rest of the place. Now, frankly, I wouldn’t mind if he had said «Not for two months, but here is the week I can come and do it.» We are not in a terrible rush, we would just like to know WHEN we might anticipate having the work done. One week has passed and Francesco has yet to reply. Lame.
It looks like I’ll have to find another painter to finish the job.

Francesco just finished painting my studio. He did an amazing job for a great price. I found him through Unilocal and his reviews live up to what everyone has to say here.
He showed up for an estimate the same day I called him, and on time. He quoted me a VERY fair price and even moved his appointments around to paint my place just 2 days after I called him. Everyone else I’d contacted told me that I would have to wait over a week.
I had always considered having apartments I’ve rented in the past painted instead of painting them myself but I had always got quoted ridiculous prices. Francesco’s prices are really amazing for the quality of work he does and he’s courteous, on time, and a great person to hire all around.
I will definitely be using him the future and recommending him to friends!

I keep forgetting to write a review of Francesco, and as I was sitting in my living room admiring the paint on the walls, I remembered!
Francesco was fantastic to work with, from start to finish. Very professional, super friendly, and explained everything thoroughly. He was able to color match the paint colors I’d chosen to his preferred brand, his work was meticulous, and when I realized I needed him to paint the picture rail in the two rooms he painted (we hadn’t decided about this in advance), he was able to do that without having to take a lot of time.
It’s amazing how much more cozy, and homey, and MINE my apartment looks (I’m a renter, so I’m used to putting up with blah paint on the walls), all thanks to Francesco. I’d use him again in a heartbeat (and maybe will, to do the rest of the place now that I see how awesome his work is).

I was ready for a change and with permission from my landlord decided to paint an accent wall in my living room and all 4 walls in my bedroom. Since I’m not someone who enjoys doing this kind of work (though I was cheap enough to consider it for a time), I wanted to find someone who would do a better job than I would at a fair price.
Francesco came to do an estimate the evening that I called him and right away I knew he was the right guy. I told him what I was thinking of doing and had already bought paint. He offered his advice and various options which were both appreciated. He was more interested in doing the right thing than he was in making extra money for himself and I didn’t feel pressured to make a decision right then.
I ultimately took his advice and tonight, a week later, the work is done.
I’m really, really happy with Francesco’s work. He did everything very neatly and precisely. It was all hassle free with email communications, punctuality and quality work. Francesco met me the morning he was going to start and was even 10 minutes early! I left my key with him and he locked up at the end of the day adn came back the next day to finish. I was able to go to work and didn’t have to adjust my schedule at all.
This was well worth the money and I recommend that anyone work with Francesco on painting or other projects. He is a talented and trustworthy guy.

Francesco painted my living room and bedroom and did a great job for a very reasonable price (almost half what someone else quoted). We needed someone ASAP because our original painters were AWOL so called Francesco 2 days before we needed the place painted and he came on time, painted until late at night (when a neighbor complained about noise… who knew a roller could be too loud!) and the came back really early so he could be finished before the movers came. I will definitely use him in the future!

Francesco just completed a job painting my showroom. I must say that Francesco was completely professional from the beginning. He preseneted a very professional and detailed job quote. he showed up on time and completed the job on schedule. What is most impressive, Francesco took it upon himself to suggest a 3^rd coat of paint needed to be applied as we were painting white walls over blue walls. He was very orderly and thorough.
I would highly recommend Francesco and look forward to working with him in the future.
