We were seated by the window because there was only 1 other 2 person table available. After having booked a table 2 – 3 weeks in advance that was the last thing I was expecting. Place is small, beautiful décor. Good for happy hour until 7pm, if you consider drinks $ 8 and up any kind of «special». Ordered a classic margarita on the rocks, nothing memorable. By the time I received my margarita I was frozen in my seat from having to sit by the window. Our expectation was to enjoy drinks and dinner here. But after the weather hazard indoors, and looking around most people seated were there only for drinks. We decided to follow in that trend. Nixed the dinner idea. I reviewed the menu, didn’t have anything that jumped out at me. Used Unilocal and quickly found something few doors down more appealing and warmer where to dine. I just didn’t get what the hype was about where there was clearly nothing to rave about.

Get the pork tacos and fries.

i went with my 2 girls. at first we were amazed with the décor but then quickly that diminished.
To start off the food was good, but extremely overpriced especially if its suppose to be Tapas. it was $ 20 for very small proportions. The Drinks are pretty watered down and $ 15.
I found that ridiculous! Worst thing of all is you’re not able to take food home. So basically you have to eat it there or throw the rest away!
The service was pretty bad. The guy was nice but it took him 20 mins to give us a drink menu and then another 20 mins to ask for our dinner order. There was only one waiter for 20 tables!!!
The only great thing about this place was the décor. I honestly would not recommend this guys so please take your money where its worth it =(

So disappointed. The décor and atmosphere in here is so so great. Really had such big potential. Food was okay and on top of that not authentic whatsoever. Waiter was particularly condescending and assumed I didn’t know the most basics about laatin american food just because I was asian. I’m like dude, I know what a taco is. But no he just kept on going and going. Also, very expensive. Don’t come here.

Gluten free restaurant that transports you to somewhere magical, with leaves hanging from the ceiling and a lovely New York backdrop in the back. Low lighting and purple hues make for a relaxing atmosphere.
Our server, Sam, was hospitable, and knowledgeable.
We ordered shrimp ceviche, was was fresh and served in a most delicious salsa served with warm chips. I could have eaten another order!
A chicken stew with Pinot Grigio was outstanding and ooooh so good. Though it seemed like a hearty soup, we cleaned the bowl down to the last drop!
Finally, artichokes in herbs and pesto.
While it lacked the pesto flavor, they were still delicious and totally consumed!
They were out of blueberries for a specific muddled cocktail, but substituted with your choice of raspberries, blackberries or strawberries. Yum.
My friend ordered the Sangria and it too was given a thumbs up. Thumbs down on the steep drink prices, however.
Three tapa plates were perfect and the place is humming!

The ambiance of Oovina is absolutely amazing !!! That is why I chose this restaurant for my birthday celebration. Unfortunately, my excitement stopped there.
I was quite embarrassed by this restaurant choice to be honest.
1. The menu online was absolutely nothing like the in restaurant menu. There were limited choices and even then the waiter kept saying «sorry we don’t have that today»
2. The portion sizes were extremely small, think about $ 20 for literally 4 shrimp. (Not exaggerating). I understand the concept of tapas very well but I’m not sure this restaurant does.
3. The food was incredibly subpar. The driest chicken tacos ever. And it only comes with two. The waiter explained this is tapas style. No it’s not! You can’t share a taco!
4. Usually a restaurant will provide a cake or something for the birthday girl. But NOPE, «sorry we don’t have any desserts today, just one thing that is sort of like a pudding but not really. But we’ll also charge you for this too.» What kind of restaurant charges for a birthday slice
Dinner and 1 drink was like $ 50 a person, and we left there still hungry and had to go get more food.
Overall, the décor is phenomenal but I was truly embarrassed in front of my friends about this restaurant selection. I would not recommend. Art and design is nice, but food and service are the most important in a restaurant.
Perhaps it was a new chef or staff in February 6^th but it was unacceptable!

Great cocktails and even better tapas. Latin food with a twist. Highly recommend the Arroz con Chorizo and yucca gnocchi. Perfectly seasoned!

LOVE the décor! Flowers hanging from the ceiling, mood lighting… very romantic. Perfect for a date or a small group. Went here for a girlfriend’s bday dinner. Small plates are great to share, service is awesome, and wines are great!
What to get:
Meats: cassava gnocchi, carne guisada
Fish: shrimp ceviche
Vegetarian: hand-​cut papas fritas, brussels sprouts

Went there last nite (Sunday January 31^st, 2016, around 8pm) with visiting friends. Food was fine, but the staff: OUTSTANDING!!!
Every single employee there from the bartender to the busboys and waiter made us feel so welcomed and special I had to write about it! Ill be back!

Beautiful ambiance but much smaller in person vs how it looks in the pics on their website. The bartender was super friendly and gave great service. The red sangria and jalapeño margarita were both very good so I’d definitely recommend this spot for happy hour.

Very cute place, but the food portions weren’t worth it. I had the bistec y papas for $ 17, and the dish was not big at all, even though they say the middle portion of the menu are portions big enough to fill you up. The amount of food was definitely NOT worth the price. The waiters were really nice though! :)

There’s nothing I didn’t like about this place. It’s smaller than it looks in pictures but the food and the wine here are LEGIT. The staff is friendly and will accommodate you in any way they can to make your experience that much more pleasant. Came here trying to stay away from the word «date» as much as possible… but I mean c’mon – The lighting, the music, the décor… screams date. It’s a beautiful place and I cannot wait to be back and try more of their menu. They also do wine tasting. Needless to say, it’s a great way to pretend you’re a wine connoisseur.

I loved it here me and my boyfriend passed by this restaurant on our way to another place an we knew we had to try it. Once you pass by you are instantly drawn in because of the unique décor. The food was great although they serve in little portions the drinks were amazing & so was the service. The waiters were friendly and super helpful being that it was mine and my significant others first time there. The only reason I won’t give them 5 stars is because like I said small portions of food other than that loved the place.

Are there last night– the food was great (all gluten free). The host/​waiter was lovely and took the time to talk to us and was very proud of the food they served. He recommended at least 5 dishes as the portions weren’t «American Sized». Good food great service :-)

I’ve never had gluten free cuisine before so I was a little skeptical, but I am so impressed! From the ambiance, to the drinks, to the food; everything was perfect! The service was beyond my expectations! The co-​owner/​chef came to our table to introduce himself and recommend dishes. The servers were funny, friendly and beyond helpful. Perfect for date night. A beautiful restaurant with a tasty menu! Will def. return!

Really gorgeous décor in this wine bar with a 100% gluten free Latin cuisine menu! I was impressed that everything was subtly gluten free to the point that no one would miss the gluten if they did not know. Great place to bring friends who follow a gluten-​free diet.
They had a few vegan options– vegan tacos, vegan arroz. I chose the vegan tofu tacos that were AMAZING. I’ve had a bunch of vegan tacos from various places and these were one of the best! The tofu was marinated and infused with so much flavor and somehow the chef managed to make the tofu «juicy». There was a good bite to it and the tofu burst with flavor with each bite. YUMM. I will definitely be back to enjoy these. They offer the vegan tacos for brunch too (:
The service was great– very attentive waiters who were friendly and interactive. There was a big selection of wines to choose from. Unfortunately I will not be reviewing the wine choices as I do not really drink.
Prices were slightly steep– I paid $ 14 for 2 tacos. But I think with the ambience and «wine bar» atmosphere it was probably not surprising.
Overall I will come back to this place if I have friends who like wine and/​or Latin food. Great place for those with dietary restrictions as well.

Very pretty place in a not-​so pretty neighborhood. The space is white with nice lighting and a large tree/​leaf like decoration across the entire ceiling. There’s a cool colorful image projection on the entire back wall. It’s very impressive walking in as it looks like a trendy place but it’s nice and intimate and a great spot to catch up with a friend or a date night. The service is courteous and non-​intrusive.
The menu has lots of dishes that sounded tasty so my friend and I split the scallops/​artichoke dish and the arroz con chorizo. Both were good overall though the scallops portion was only two pieces of each ingredient! Not worth the price. Chorizo being chorizo, it made the dish slightly greasy but the rice, peppers, olives and seasonings were flavorful.
As pretty as the space is, points get deducted for the façade of it all. The bathrooms are downstairs and it was nasty down there. The steps and the floors of both individual shared-​sex bathrooms were sticky and gross! I went twice and one room was cleaner than the other. The one smelled of rotten fish, I couldn’t get out of there fast enough. I couldn’t believe how pretty and nice they kept the upstairs but neglected where the restrooms are!

Off the bat, the décor of this place blew me away and that alone made me want to come here. I’m glad I did because my experience here was great! This place is a gem.
The atmosphere is intimate and the place isn’t loud at all. If anything, the ambiance is perfect. Great to take a significant other here on a date night or even with your closest friends!
I came here with a friend to have dinner and we ordered the Grilled Jumbo Shrimp Tacos, Cassava Gnocchi and Arroz con Chorizo. For drinks, we ordered the Pamplemousse Sparkling Side Car and the Rose Moscow Mule.
Regarding food, keep in mind that this is a tapa place so the portions are smaller but definitely shareable! The one that definitely stood out was the Cassava Gnocchi. It was heavenly! The Grilled Jumbo Shrimp Tacos were too acidic for me, but my friend enjoyed it. The Arroz con Chorizo is a dish you can pass on.
Regarding drinks, they were so good! I highly recommend the Pamplemousse Sparkling Side Car and the Rose Moscow Rule, but they were $ 15 each. A good splurge once in a while.
Service was fantasitic. The waiters were attentive and friendly.
I highly recommend this place and would love to come here again!

This place turned up in my Facebook news feed several times. The décor is what got me so I figured I give it a shot and happy I did. Went there for brunch with a friend from out of town. The 1.5 hours of bottomless drinks were worth it. The Bellini were great as well as the margaritas. I had the pork loin tacos that were excellent. Great flavor. The staff was great, little slow, but we were in no hurry. Lunch for 2 with drinks was $ 75 which i thought was a great deal. I would for sure return.

My husband found this place to celebrate my birthday and I couldn’t have planned it better!
This place was phenomenal! The food was delicious and I could eat a lot of things on the menu even with my food allergies! They even had dessert I could eat!
My favorites were the shrimp ajillo and cassava gnocchi.
The only reason I gave 4 stars was because the drinks were more like juice than alcoholic drinks. Otherwise the ambiance, service and food was top notch!

I work up the block but waited until I had someone special to accompany me to check this place out!

This restaurant is off the beaten path a bit. The bartender, Tom, was extremely nice and helpful when recommending food and drinks to us. The whole restaurant is gluten free, I believe someone the manager knows has celiac. For me, that was a moot point.
Almost a little over the top, the ambiance and décor reminded me of a vegas restaurant.
We ordered the Kale Caesar Salad which I fully recommend. The Gnocci was AMAZING. highly recommended, and the bacon was spot on. we also ordered the chicken tacos, also a great choice.
The food and service were both amazing, and for that alone I would totally come back here.

This is the first time I am not a fan of a restaurant with a rating of more than 4 stars on Unilocal.
The restaurant is really pretty, the waiter was super nice. However, the food was pretty disappointing.
I had the shrimp Ajillo. The shrimp itself was pretty good. You can taste that it’s almost fresh off the grill. However, that corn masa cake was a disaster. It was so salty that I barely ate it. The chef probably made it with 1 tablespoon of salt. I also had the skirt steak tacos which was highly recommended. The taco shell taste «old» and mooshy.
If this place has to survive in Hell’s Kitchen, they have to up their food game a lot…

Now, I usually don’t read the ads on Facebook but when I saw Oovah’s pretty pink/​purple lighting and white flowers hanging from the ceiling, I thought I’d give it a shot. Even though the place was much smaller than I imagined, it was just as pretty as the pictures (+1 star)! Really loved the interior.
Drinks were good (~$ 15 each). Only one I don’t recommend was the ‘jam-​pagne’… But liked their coconut fizz drink and the rose one with ginger beer — very refreshing.
Food was okay. Definitely overpriced for the tiny portions. Understand that it’s tapas style but then why is it entrée pricing? We ordered the Brussels sprouts (good sauce), shrimp ceviche (fresh), and steak with fries in kale chimichurri (sauce smelled good, steak was too overcooked for my taste).
Dessert was awful. Dry lump of chocolate cake ($ 12)…skip it.
Servers were nice (+1 star) but there were only two for the entire restaurant. We waited forever for the bill and then saw that they accidentally charged us got an extra drink and .50 fee… Not sure what that was but we let it slide because it was just .50. Server was nice and apologized but then we had to wait again to get the bill and then pay. I’m not being dramatic either, 25 minutes to pay the bill is kind of crazy to me.
Pretty place but will not be returning.

If there’s one great reason to come to Oovah, it’s for the awesome atmosphere and décor! The waiters are really friendly and the restaurant is decorated with the coolest white flowers and lighting all around. They also play movies on the back wall and it’s just a really enchanting place to be. A place with décor like this usually is average on the food, but the food and drinks are actually really great as well!
The white sangria is a must-​try and might’ve been one of the best parts of my meal. All the other dishes (tacos, brussel sprouts, paella, etc.) were also great. Come here if you are looking for a calm, intimate, and charming dinner!

From the moment you walk in, you will be mesmerized by the beautiful décor, backdrop and lighting. It’s the perfect place for a night out with friends, a romantic date, or brunch.
I held my friend’s bachelorette dinner here and I’m so glad I chose Oovah. We were a large group of 18, and the owners and staff were very accommodating. (With such a large group, other restaurants had so many restrictions!)
I had the pleasure of working with the owners /​chef and they are such a pleasure to work with. They were really accommodating and flexible with our group reservation, and super responsive. I highly recommend Oovah!
The food is tapas style and every dish was delicious! Their cocktails take on a creative spin and are super delicious!
