NYC Tire And Auto Repair Services was founded in 1986. Since we opened our doors, we have been located at 514 West 39th Street in New York City. We are open seven days a week, from 8am to 6pm. With our towing service right next to the Lincoln Tunnel, we are able to serve customers throughout the entire city of New York, as well as those who are stuck in certain areas of New Jersey and on the New Jersey turnpike. Wish I had see all the reviews before I wasted my time. Today was the second time I talk to someone on the phone, get confirmation that they would do an oil change and then get there 20 mins later to be told that they can’t do it. The guy on the phone even gave me a sarcastic «so what are you waiting for?» When I asked if I could bring my car, only to arrive and be told that actually they only have 2 mechanics today and it would be a very long wait.

Rude and incompetent workers. Always trying to take advantage of customers and always insisting that towed vehicle be taken to their garage, even if your preferred garage is much closer. Always a hassle with these people. My insurance company put me in touch with them a few times and I am so done.

Never have your car towed here. Bring to Larry Darryl and Darryl if you have to. But never have your car towed here. No matter what Triple A recommends. Never have your car towed here.
My Ford Taurus broke down on Saturday. Triple A sent a flatbed within one hour 20 minutes. Not too bad. But when he pulled up to this NYC Tire and Auto Care garage I just knew I was going to be ripped off. The fuel pump estimate was $ 1,270 which is about 500 dollars more than the going rate if you check online. But they had the car and I needed it back. OK do the job. WHen I went to pick it up on Tuesday, they said another problem with Idle Control Valve. Normally a $ 175 job, but they wanted to charge me almost $ 400 extra. I argued when I heard that their labor rate is $ 139.00 per hour. More than what my Ford Dealer charges.
The service Rep Ian, said OK he’ll take one third off the labor for the Idle Control Valve repair.
So it was only $ 263 extra. The total bill was over $ 1500. It should have been $ 900 — and that’s adding about $ 300 extra for NYC prices.
Again, Never have your car towed here.
I will be complaining to Triple A and advising them they are recommending a crummy garage.

If I could give them 0 Stars I would. On the phone they seem very personable and genuine.
For the NY State Inspection, I took my car there. After checking the car — they FAILED the inspection and said I need new Shock/​Struts in the front because the oil was leaking and new Brake rotor and pads in the back. This was shock to me as none of these things came up in my regular check with the Toyota Dealer a month back.
They gave me a quote for $ 1,000 plus had to pay $ 37 for the failed state inspection. I told them that I will get it checked at the dealer. They questioned my move and mentioned that they use dealer parts and are cheaper than the dealer. Anyways, I paid the $ 37 and walked out with the estimate.
I got my car checked by another garage (should I say they didn’t charge me) and they mentioned that there is a very minimal leak in the shock /​struts in the front but nothing excessive and nothing that will prohibit from passing the bounce test for the inspection. They also mentioned that the back breaks are 40% worn out but not at a stage to be replaced. This new garage was surprised that we failed the inspection and provided a complete written summary of the check up.
After getting an independent check done, I took the car to Mike’s Auto on 30th Street and they passed the NY State Inspection with no issues. The guy even mentioned that the car is in great condition.
Lesson Learned — Take your care to another garage where people are honest and not trying to rip you off!!!

My motorcycle recently broke down, I called my Insurance Co. and they put me in contact with NYC T and AC. towing service. I called at 730am, they told me 40 mins, didnt show up until 1100, claimed there was a lot of traffic.
Instead of hooking the bike up to a winch and pulling it onto the flatbed, the driver insisted that we physically push the bike onto the platform which was prob at a 25 degree angle to the street. The Platform had oil on it too, so the brakes would not hold, once we got it on the platform.
He then wanted to strap the bike down with the bike leaning on the kickstand. When i told him i wanted to strap the bike down in a fully upright position, i got the «i know what im doing» routine. I finally insisted, and we did it my way.
Then when we got to where we were going, again, instead of lowering the bike from the platform safely with the winch cable, he told me to sit on the bike and while he raised the platform again at 25 degrees or so, and both of us rolled the bike back off the platform.
This was nearly impossible, the oil on the metal platform rendered my brakes virtually useless. We almost lost control, My bike almost ran over this guy, and also almost toppled off the platform onto a parked car. Its ridiculous. Someone needs to take a training course.
If i could give them minus 2 stars, i would.

I had a very terrible experience with NYC Tire and Auto Care. Like many others, I was towed here under the suggestion of AAA. They told me I had a faulty fuel pump and crankshaft position sensor.
When I got the car back I noticed a faint gasoline smell, which worsened over the next several days. When I took the car to an actual dealership, it was found that they cut the fuel line in the process, and fuel had been collecting in the frame of the car underneath the rear seat. In addition, they broke the crankshaft position sensor while installing it. This resulted in additional $ 900 of damages for the second repair.
Overall, this was a terrible experience. When I reached out to them to make this right, they refused.

PLEASE read similar reviews and avoid at all costs. AAA towed my car here when I had a flat tire. Not only was my car returned filthy (oil spattered on car on hood and side, trash and gravel on front passenger floor, dirty cat prints on the convertible roof), but my car was left w zero gas. Zero. I drove to 8th avenue and was stranded. The car had been filled 4 days prior w little use. Guess who the tow company was thru AAA when I ran out of gas. Yup. Waited 2 hrs and they never came.
I had hit a pothole and had a flat. They told me the rim needed to be fixed as well as a new tire. After several days, they told me it couldn’t be fixed and they would locate a refurbished rim. After days of no return calls they told me it was ready. My tire began going low again. I took to another place and they told me NYC Tire sold me was junk that had been welded in 3 places and had cracks, which was why my tire was going flat. They said the rim was unsafe to drive on.
How this business has not been shut down is beyond me. I experienced the worst service of my life and was lucky I was not injured. Shame on both AAA and is business for their behavior.

Polite guys who did a good job and there’s heaters with tea and coffee in their waiting room. Might have over charged me for my tire ($ 180 HONDA FIT tire) but it is in the city so what do you expect.

I had my car towed by AAA to this location after not being able to start the engine, was told I had a bad alternator along with a dead battery due to the bad alternator. Initially I was skeptic of the pricing, as it was much steeper than what I found online, but Ronnie was very patient despite my many questions and was able to explain each of the charges and problems in detail, along with their rates and standard hours for fixing each of my problems. Their transparency in pricing and patience in dealing with my skepticism and initial accusations are why I’m rating it 5 stars.

Worst nightmare ever. GEICO apparently directed this junk to tow my BMW, a guy comes 1.5hr late and immediately asking for cash to pay toll. When I tell him GEICO covers all, he then storms off telling me to deal with GEICO then, all without taking off tow hook from my car. When I asked GEICO to call them, their response was epic: he went to bathroom and he’ll be back to tow my car. Of course, the guy never shows up. I had to talk to GEICO’s emergency roadside assistance supervisor to report this and complained why they even bother dealing with this non-​sense. I truly pray that this place burns down to ashes.
Wish Unilocal had negative stars.

This should be a bad review for AAA and NYC Tire and Auto.
AAA uses these guys for tows and jump starts.
I had no choice but to use them.
The guy who came every time was really sweet but came 3 times for the same problem.
1. First time, didn’t bring the equipment I said they needed.
2. Second time brought a new battery, replaced my factory original battery with a cheap one, charged me for it, installed it.
3. Third time the car was dead because the battery he installed was the wrong one. I had to get it jumped again by him and drive it to a mechanic who replaced the battery and said it was the wrong one for the car and could have done damage.
So I had to pay for 2 batteries, waste 3 days. And AAA wanted to charge me $ 10 to cancel my membership. Also AAA wouldn’t deal with this garage but said I had to take it up with the garage. Now I see all of these bad reviews — I would never use AAA in NYC. Totally pathetic. I feel bad for the guy at this garage because he’s really sweet and kind but they didn’t have the equipment and then gave me a wrong battery and threw out a 1 year old factory original battery by Volvo. Boneheaded and I’m really mad at AAA for connecting me to these people and forcing me to use them when I was in an emergency and never dealing with the fall out.

This company is worse than I thought after reading these reviews. My insurance sent me a tow truck from this company. It took them 4 hours to finally arrive and when they did, the truck driver (his name is Keith) told me he can’t tow my car because i didn’t have a tow hook for his flatbed truck (BS), and that I needed a tow truck with a wheel lift, and told me to call my insurance back to request another company and then left right away (waaay to beat the system buddy)…
So i called the manager and he told me the same exact BS, even telling me he’s gonna check their shop to see if they had any tow hooks in stock and instead of him telling me he’s gonna call me back if he finds one, he told me to call him back in 15 minutes which i already thought was super sketchy and he even sounded like he was lying…
So i called my insurance again and they sent me a different company (All About Automotive in Brooklyn). I spoke to one of their drivers and he told me that my car was perfectly towable without the tow hook and that a lot of problems with tow truck drivers is that most of them don’t like crossing the river to Jersey (I live 10 blocks outside the tunnel not even a 5 minute ride) and that (Keith) gave me some BS excuse to get out of it.
PS. my car was 2 blocks away from the tunnel entrance

I had my car towed to NYC Tire & Auto & they were very nice from the 1st guy that came to jump my car to the tow driver that came after car wouldn’t start still. They diagnosed my car as a computer problem which only a certified BMW place can handle.
I read the horrible reviews & was in panic at how it would be when I picked up my car. But they remained super nice, Jaime the mechanic & Robbie (?) the owner or manager, they said the diagnosis was free & didn’t charge me anything even though I picked car up on 3rd day of being in there shop.
They made a great effort in trying to diagnose the car all along the way trying a new battery even. But returning mine after charging it up again.
I would not worry about using them again

I went to them to get new tires during the winter after I hit a major pothole. They did a great job and were really nice so I went back to get my oil changed. Not a problem… Went back for some major work I knew I needed-​brakes, shocks, oil/​filter change and a car wash. I knew they were overcharging but I had it done anyway since they did a good job the last 2 times I was there. Ronny-​still nice.
When I picked up my car-​no car wash, cat paw marks all over (windows open)-I said that I hoped it didn’t go in my car-​I left to go back to my parking garage downtown. On my drive I noticed no washer fluid-​I went to put my own in and the hood would’t open-​I had to get that fixed, my breaks were squeaking and within days screeching-​it was a painful sound. Here’ the kicker-​all my change was stolen and it appeared someone went through all my compartments. When I called he offered a free oil change-​I went back down to check the compartments again and realized there was 103 miles put on my car… No thanks to going back. I went somewhere else and they worked to get the brakes to work. I went back there 3 times and they didn’t charge me any of those times. They ultimately had to replace them. If all you need is tires-​go for it, anything else, proceed at your own risk.

DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR HERE FOR REPAIR!
I repeat: AVOID THIS PLACE!!!
I had a fender bender and my car was towed here. The guy wanted to fix my car for cheap so I agreed without researching how terrible of reviews this place had. Here were my issues:
1. New bumper was badly scratched by their workers in reparking my car and didn’t bother to fix it until I noticed it. This required me to bring my car back in and rent my own car in the time waiting for my car to complete repairs.
2. My car alarm was broken and they didn’t bother to fix it even though I had asked them to after returning my car for the second time. Complete neglect.
3. My car was FILTHY. oil and dirt all over my car, the passenger seat and ceiling, driver side, the backseats. Why would my car be dirty from passenger and backseat when the only repairs needed to be on my front bumper? See photos I’ve attached.
4. Brought in my car with a full tank of gas. Picked it up and ¼ left left, with 350+ miles driven on it (I kept log of miles) you’ve been caught!!! Looks like someone had a roadtrip using my car while I was gone for 2 weeks
5. iPod for my music went missing after picking up my car.
this place is not a business. It’s a scam. I’ve never experienced such terrible service in m life. AVOID THIS PLACE
