This moving company is really exceptional. They were fast yet very careful with my belongings and packaged each item. I’ve never had such a great moving experience. Highly recommend.

NYC Moves helped make a significant move go very smoothly, and without any issues. I requested a quote from John the owner and he replied within 24 hours with a reasonable quote. I needed to move a two bedroom apartment from Washington Heights to Harlem with a stop along the way to my storage unit in the Bronx. They worked in teams, one man in the apartment routing and directing and two men transporting. This allowed me time to tie up any loose ends, coordinate cleaning and the final walk thru. Not a scratch or any breaks either Thank you NYC Moves, great job!

I would highly recommend NYC Moves. I had a great experience with them. I called at something like 9.30 pm one night and John answered and gave me a quick quote without me needing to fill out a bunch of detailed forms. I moved one bedroom’s worth of stuff in a share. Also, as my move was scheduled for 1÷24÷16 (which became the giant blizzard day), I checked in a few days and he was flexible to change it if the weather was too bad. The night before, we talked and he agreed to move it from 11 am to 7 am in order to avoid the bad weather, which I greatly appreciated. They did show up a bit late, but he called me several times to confirm and keep me posted (the subways/​transportation were delayed because of the snow so it want really their fault). John, John, and Junior moved me from a sixth floor walk up within about 45 minutes, and into my new place a few miles away in less than two hours total, and in absolutely insane snow. I also had over-​estimated how much I would have, and John adjusted the move estimate down accordingly. They were awesome, affordable, reliable, flexible, careful (nothing was damaged, broken, scratched, etc.) and I would highly recommend them for your move.

Very responsive and helpful, answered all my questions. The rate given was pretty good, but I wouldn’t use this company because they only accept cash.
For me, it seems like a bad set up to quote me a price and then say we will finalize the price after the work is done, at which point I am expected to be standing there with hundreds of dollars in cash to pay you on the spot.
What if I don’t agree with overages? Do we stand there and negotiate? Plus, I don’t know the people who are now in my home and know that I have a bunch of cash on me. For my specific situation, this was off putting and doesn’t make me feel comfortable working with them.

Terrific experience with this crew. I had A LOT of boxes and lived on the fifth floor of a walk-​up with a very tight staircase. The guys were there on time (early actually, and even parallel parked my 16-​foot rental truck) and immediately got organized. They formed a relay from my apartment down to the first floor and completed the entire move – with a couch, bed, tons of boxes and miscellaneous items – in two hours. They were great about packing the truck in an organized way so that the boxes didn’t shift during my move (they asked me to buy rope, which I did, to help them secure all the boxes). I don’t have any complaints except that I wish they were national so that they can help me with my next move outside the NYC area! I highly recommend these guys.

I honestly cannot say enough positive things about this company. They were BY FAR the lowest estimate I got and on the day of the move didn’t try to add extra fees or jack up the price once they’d moved me. The estimate I was given was exactly what I paid. They sent 6 guys with a truck for my move and they formed a really smart assembly line down the 5 flights of steps. Never once did I hear one of the guys complain and they worked so efficiently with a friendly demeanor to get all of my things packed. They wrapped up delicate furniture and taped up dresser drawers to make sure nothing shifted/​fell/​was damaged. They also spent extra time and attention to get a large asymmetrical couch out of the small apartment door. After 20 tries it really seemed like it wasn’t going to make it out of the apartment (i had to make a hole in the wall to get it into the apartment), but seeing it as a challenge they managed to get it out of the door without damage to the couch or the apartment. From start (my door of a 5^th floor walk up in washington heights with 40 boxes, a bed, 2 couches, 2 big chairs, a dresser, 2 bookshelves, a nightstand, a huge ottoman and a bunch of other random things) to finish (down in brooklyn through awful traffic and up 4 flights of steps) the entire process only took 3 hours. I had no idea moving could be so quick and painless. I will absolutely use this company for my next move and recommend them to anybody looking for help in the city. I’d give them more than 5 stars if possible!

Best movers we’ve ever had! They are fast, careful and very accommodating. They made sure everything was where we wanted it before they left. They even disconnected my tv, modem and cable service in our old apartment and hooked everything back up for us. They went above and beyond our usual moving experiences. I highly recommend them.

I received outstanding support from the NYC Moves team! They responded promptly to our many questions prior to the move day, and for coordinating closely with me the date/​time of the move which like many people’s was up in the air based on the departure of my new apartment’s tenant.
On the day of the move, we were still not sure if the sofa would be sold, or if we would need to donate. At the last minute (literally as the movers were just about to take the sofa out of the apartment), we received a call from a resident of my old building that bought the sofa. Your movers were so accommodating and even delivered the sofa to the new owner on the floor below.
Overall, the moving team was prompt in arrival and delivery, so careful with all of the boxes and miscellaneous furniture, and were a joy to work with.
I was 100% satisfied with our moving experience. They have a client for life!

They were available earlier than scheduled. Usually movers tend to be late. Their system works great. Instead of two guys– they had 4 to make the job quick.

These guys are the best. They got me from one fourth floor walk up to another fourth floor walk up in less than 2 hours. They came in, took everything. I jumped on a cab with my little cactus. Nothing scratched, nothing lost. They even offer to help the girl whose room I’m moving into to carry some of her stuff out. If you have a bunch of little bags and not a lot of boxes, they have their own «wardrobe» box that they will use will out charging you extra. They’re definitely more affordable than other movers. If you know you are moving during a busy moving day (end of the month or the first of the month), call early because they get really busy!
Really liked these guys and would hire them again in a heartbeat. They really make moving a much more pleasant experience.

I was pleasantly shocked by how incredible this experience was. This was my first time moving from apartment to apartment in New York, and when you factor in walk-​ups/​narrow halls/​street parking/​etc., it can be a pretty daunting task. The NYC Moves team was friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable, and needed only about 45 minutes to complete a task that I thought would take closer to 2 hours. Very fair rates that feel like a steal once you see how good the service is. I immediately recommended them to my two other roommates moving out who were just as impressed.

Great experience with this company. Had a really small move to take care of and they quoted a fair price. Came within the time frame; items were lightly secured for moving (with their own supplies, like tape) and then moved no problem. Upon payment, no extra fees or anything hidden. No frills or «what-​if situations,» just good and reliable service.
Glad I found them — don’t search for anyone else — call them!

Best movers I have ever worked with– hands down.
John was very responsive and even agreed to reschedule my move to an earlier date on the weekend pretty last minute.
There were about 5 – 6 other young men who came to assist with the move. They know what they’re doing — they came in and had everything moved out of my old apartment within 30min. They came right over to my new apartment and unpacked everything in only 30 minutes as well. In total, the entire move took only about an hour (WOW). When they say flat rate, they mean it! I got everything moved for only $ 250 — half of what my other quotes were starting at.
Each of the movers introduced themselves to me and shook my hand. They handled everything including delicate and breakable items with extreme care. So professional, I have already recommended my friends use NYC Moves and now I’m excited to tell the Unilocal community about them as well.

They were decent to me. They charged a fair flat rate. They did the job well, caused no problems, were good people. I was obliterated by moving fatigue and had some scheduling snafus that affected them but they rolled with it. I would use them again and so should you.

this is my 3^rd move in manhattan with these guys and i can’t recommend them enough. they take away all of the stress of moving: upfront and competitive pricing, responsive, and extremely efficient when it comes to the move itself.
don’t think twice, just give these guys a call and you won’t regret it.

I used NYC moves for a simple move — they helped carry down a few large pieces of furniture and packed it into the truck. I can’t comment on their packing/​unpacking skills or actual move but for what I needed, they were great! I called a few days in advance and was quoted a fair price (a bit high, but for NYC and compared to the other places I called they were the lowest), they showed up on times and worked fast. I turned around and they already had my furniture out of the apt! They were also incredibly nice. I would certainly recommend NYC moves and plan to keep them in mind for any future moves I make.

Summary: I’d use them again or recommend them to a friend based on price alone, but only if it didn’t involve particularly expensive or fragile items.
Pros: Great price ($ 375 versus over $ 800 from two other companies). Got the job done quickly (about two hours for a move 1.5 miles away).
Cons: Were 4 hours late. It was snowing and really slushy that day, so I wasn’t too upset by this. They sent more guys as a result to speed things up.
They didn’t wrap one of my furniture items in a blanket as they should have. They forgot. It got damaged and I got two different stories about how much they’d take off.

These guys are great.
I’ve used them twice now. Once to move from my 6 story walk-​up in the East Village to a 2 story walk-​up in Jersey City and the second to move to a ground floor 2-​bed in Jersey City.
They’re cheap, extremely reliable and super efficient. They worked around my schedule up until the day of moving, when I couldn’t finalize the move for certain until I had closed on my condo. They just needed 5 hours notice, which was one less thing to have to stress about when you’re moving.
I’d highly recommend them if you’re looking for reliable, cheap, friendly and fast movers. They’re cash only and the guys deserve a great tip afterwards. Definitely one of the toughest jobs out there!
