I don’t know who entered this NY Lottery Center in Unilocal and classified it as «amusement park» but that alone keeps me coming back.
I love that I can get my lottery on without feeling bad about the dude behind me waiting to quench their thirst or satisfy their nicotine fit while I go through my numbers routine. And I’m not even one of those guys slowly reading 50 numbers off the top of their head…
I love that there are 9 self service machines that are always clean and in perfect operation.
I love that there’s security stationed inside the store and the guards are pleasantly bored and ready to help clueless lottery newbs, old ladies and recent immigrants navigate the sanctioned gambling system (even if I do wonder if they can really afford to play).
I love eavesdropping when an ESL gambler comes in with a winning ticket and gets their transaction handled in Cantonese, Mandarin or Spanish.
This is really a 4.49 star review. Because…
I like (mixed feelings) that I can plow my small winnings back into more gambling right on the self service machines. But it’s a bummer that they won’t give you small cash here (unlike the licensed lottery distributors) because even though it was fun the first time I got a $ 25 check written here, after handing over my ID and signing an agreement to pay taxes, now it feels silly and too much trouble for anything under $ 100.
