NY City Blinds

It was easy to work with NY City Blinds. They have a great selection of blinds. We selected wood blinds from Hunter Douglas. They look modern and work great. We have an unusual bay window in our apartment, and the installer spent a long time to make sure that he had the measurements just right before placing the order. On the day the blinds were installed, the installer was quick and didn’t leave a mess. They look fantastic and we couldn’t be happier.

People make mistakes but NYC Blinds is rectifying theirs
I was fitted for the blinds I originally wanted, cellular shades, and they will hopefully arrive within the promised time and I am confident they will be an 100% improvement

I called around to get estimates from about 4 «discount» blind companies. NY City Blinds came in the lowest by at least $ 200. What really impressed when they came to do the estimate it was the original estimation. They had a quick turnaround and they were just the nicest to deal with. I was really impressed, and it takes a lot to impress me. They had 3-​guys to install them so it was only an hour for two windows. Real gentlemen. Cleaned up everything. I would suggest anyone looking to def call them, you’ll see that they have the best prices and best quality shades.

NYC Blinds is the best to shop, from draperies/​shades to upholstery each and everyone of them are very nice, helpful and professional. I did drapery for my bedroom and it looks fantastic of coarse with help of one of the designers (Matt Amor and Maurizio) Can’t wait to do my next project with NY City Blinds (drapery and Upholstery) I highly recommend NYC Blinds each and everyone of this store are amazing you won’t regret.

Great experience! If you’re lucky you’ll work with Mauricio, a charming professional with a good eye. The blinds were briefly backordered but once they arrived, were quickly and skillfully installed. Mauricio was responsive and thorough, making the job super easy.

NYC blinds was extremely professional and helpful with my project. The salesperson, Roei was responsive to my needs and offered solid design advice. For instance, Roei came for an initial consultation at my convenience (he even offered to come on Sunday morning based on my busy schedule!), and quoted me for solar shades. I was indecisive about what I wanted to do, so I didn’t decide on the spot, and that was fine. Roei called to follow-​up and was completely professional at all times. Once I changed my mind, Roei came back out to my apartment to re-​measure for the Silhouette’s and still was was very patient until I made a decision, which was several weeks later!
I would use NYC Blinds for any future window covering needs. Roei Loker and NYC Blinds are extremely professional, patient and offer competitive pricing. The blinds look beautiful and I am very grateful!

Poor installation, overpriced, lousy customer service, and pathetic follow up to poor quality workmanship. Blinds were late, installed crooked, stained, and required multiple visits/​re-​visits to get right; and after three such consultations, they’re still not right. Evaluate all other options before considering this company. No confidence in them whatsoever. Amateurs.

****UPDATE TO MY PREVIOUS REVIEW****
Within hours of posting this yesterday, I received an email from the owner apologizing for the inconvenience and a promise to fix it. His team came today (Wed ⁶⁄₁₀) to finish the job. He also called me both prior to, and after the team visited, again apologizing for the inconvenience and delays. The team showed up as promised and finished. Thank you Zvi for helping to get this done, the work is now complete and the blinds look great! For that reason I’ve changed the one star rating to four.

I’m writing this hoping I will get a response from someone at NY City Blinds that can actually help me get what I paid for… Here’s my story so far:
–We selected NY City Blinds to install solar shades in our new apt in April.
–We agreed on an installation date of May 6^th. The crew showed up as scheduled and began installing.
I quickly noticed that all the chains were plastic. Not as we agreed. We ordered metal chains in all but two rooms. When I mentioned this to the installer, he seemed a little agitated with me and then proceeded to try and convince me the plastic chains were much stronger and better than the metal. I thanked him and said I’d like to stick with what I ordered. He said fine, but he didn’t have them and would have to come back to re-​install. OK, easy enough. We’ll set up a new time.
Unfortunately, that was just the beginning. I noticed the installers shouting loudly in another language at each other, and running in and out of the apartment. (I won’t even get into the unprofessionalism of the installers). One of them finally came up to me and said they didn’t have the correct «clutches» to cover the hardware. They had a mix match of grey and white and even then, didn’t have enough of them to cover all the hardware. Again, would have to come back to finish later. OK.
Finally, after all the shades were installed, they pointed out that one panel in the bedroom was cut to short, about 12″ too short, so it didn’t even cover the entire window! Again, have to re-​order and come back. Annoyed, but ok, these things happen.
Don’t worry, I was told, this will all be taken care of by next week, or week after AT THE LATEST.
Fast forward to today (June 9^th), FOUR WEEKS later. NOTHING has been completed. I only get the run around, when I ask for an update. I finally gave them an ultimatum last week. This has lasted too long and I wanted it complete this week. So, they promised it would be done by today (June 9^th). I stayed home from work, only to get an email rescheduling for tomorrow (June 10^th). Then two hours later, canceling for tomorrow. «We don’t have all the parts, sorry, We’ll let you know when we can reschedule»…
So, here I am, giving my first 1 Star review, hoping I will get the attention of someone, anyone at NY City Blinds that can help. And if not, at least future customers will be fair warned what your getting into… Your move, NY City Blinds…

Owner is dedicated to satisfying customers. He was able to sympathize with my concerns and it was clear that he takes great pride in his business.

As mentioned by another reviewer, there are basically two choices in the neighborhood, and the people at the other location are rude and doing business with them is most unpleasant. My experience with NY City Blinds was top notch and delightful. My job was small, yet they treated me as if I was having every window in my home done. I felt they actually cared about my apartment; the designers and installers even offered to take their shoes off before entering. My shutters are absolutely beautiful. I have finally found wonderful business partners for all of my window and upholstery needs. My husband and I take a lot of pride in our home, and the people at NY City blinds totally appreciated our attention to detail. They did everything in their power to make us feel comfortable with the product we were ordering. I can’t thank them enough and hope they never move out of the area. Bravo NY City Blinds for operating a customer centric business, a quality sorely absent in the window business. I can’t wait to work on my next project with you!

I wish I could give no stars, just completely disgusted by their customer service and all around awfulness. The blinds installed were defective and the string immediately ripped. The blinds were taken back to be fixed and no one every called me back to let me know the blinds were available to be reinstalled. So the nonsense begins… I set up a date to have the replacement blind installed and take a day off of work and no one every shows up. I called and asked what the issue was, there was no issue they just failed to ever tell the installer to come to my apt. Keep in mind it is 3pm I asked them to come and i would be around all day as I took off of work. I was told they were too busy and would have to come another time. So they come a week later and install the blinds, problem solved. Nope, problem just beginning the new blind immediately breaks again. So now they want to charge me money to reinstall the broken blind. After being completely disrespected on the phone by Z and hanging up on me for no reason, I call back and am passed around to several different useless people there. I explained to them that I had a lifetime warranty and that I was very confused by why they were being so incredibly rude. After weeks of phone calls and complaining I gave up and called the manufacturer of the blinds who sent a free set of blinds as I had a lifetime warranty on them. Ironically they called up nyc blinds for sizing and was given the wrong info by the store and had to resend another blind as this company is filled with completely useless human beings.

I have worked now with Mauricio twice. What is amazing about him is that he really develops a read on a client’s aesthetics and comes into the consultation fully prepared with the most spot-​on suggestions. I fully respect and trust Maruicio’s taste and judgments; you get so much more from working with him than mere window coverings. He loves what he does and you cannot help but be excited in his presence.

I wanted to do Hunter Douglas shades which left me two options in my neighborhood: Janovic or NY City Blinds. I went to Janovic on 86^th Street first. The window treatment people were not very friendly. When I inquired about the honeycomb shades with the functions I was looking for, the guy’s response was: it’s very expensive. Plus, they charge you for a consultation and measurement. So I went to NY City Blinds. The consultation was free, the consultant was very professional — he answered all the questions I had and was very patient with me the entire time (I had to take my son to the bathroom to shower because he got food all over himself… anyways). The installation was quick and smooth. There was a little transaction issue with the credit card and they resolved it quickly. All in all it was a good experience. I will use them again.

Sorry Zvi. You are just digging yourself a greater hole. Although I set this account up while I was living in Brooklyn, I have not actually lived in Brooklyn for 3.5 years now. I’m not sure whose apartment you went to in Brooklyn twice, but it certainly wasn’t mine. Furthermore my boyfriend and I were nothing but courteous to Maurice despite the fact that he was late to our appointment (we waited two and a half hours total for him). It’s very ironic that you are calling me a liar. It’s surprising your business still exists, though I doubt it will ever thrive under the management of the likes of you.

Found the same blinds at Home Depot for literally less than one fifth of the price I was quoted by these scammers in an uncomfortably pushy pitch. We ended up saving over $ 6,000 in doing so (We don’t even have that many windows). They’re either incompetent, or are shameless about having a 500% markup.
Make sure you shop around before you get a quote from these guys. Actually, you should just skip them altogether.
