Dr. Allyson Srikhande — Best doctor ever

I had an elbow issue.
Dr. Tarwala was very attentive, caring and took his time with both the initial exam and follow ups. Further he provided his e mail, in case I had issues over the weekend, which I did, and he responded with additional information and by calling the pharmacy as it turned out I needed some Anti-​biotics. The concern seems genuine as other reviewers have mentioned.

I had chronic, severe neck pain, I came here and got it taken care of. Simple.
Previously I had wasted a lot of time and money on chiropractic for short term relief (not to mention the risk from neck «adjustments») when I should have just gone to a real doctor to begin with.
Finally I got fed up with my lack of progress from chiropractic and came to this office and got the expert opinion I needed. Dr. Shrikhande was fast and painless doing my needle EMG; she is personable and professional and I trust her opinion. I have followed her treatment plan for my neck pain with great results in a very short amount of time. I would say that my pain is now minimal and I have complete range of motion and no headaches. I am no longer taking pain medication.
I plan to return for women’s health issues and chronic pelvic pain, in which Dr. Shrikhande has a specialty.
The receptionists here are busy but don’t seem stressed out and they act professionally.

Dr. Shrikhande was knowledgeable, caring, matter-​of-​fact and helped me come up with new ideas for a pain issue I’ve been dealing with for over a decade, for which I’ve seen many doctors. I didn’t wait long at the office and the staff was very friendly and helpful.

I see Dr. Allyson A. Shrikhande and is great — knowledgeable, compassionate, spends enough time with me, looks at all options, adjust treatment, etc. She has also called me back when I was in pain and needed urgently to connect with her.
The staff is polite and helpful and the office is clean and nice.

I recently began Physical Therapy at NY Bone & Joints Specialists and have nothing but positive things to say about the experience. I am seven months pregnant and Dr. Shrikhande immediately identified what was going on with my back and ribs and I now have a custom program to address my issues… and it’s working! The therapists are wonderful — genuinely caring and so supportive — and office staff is lovely. Plus I love that the appointments are confirmed via text… super tech savvy and convenient!

Dr. Schildhorn and Dr. Isaac have both taken incredible care of me and helped me through a difficult recent elbow surgery. They’re proactive about addressing your injury appropriately and treat patients professionally and with genuine concern. Everyone who works in the office is friendly and willing to help, and the physical therapists I’ve worked with so far have all been great.

I’ve visited NYBJS for a herniated disc and a raging case of plantar fasciitis. Dr. Shrikhande and Dr. Ellie were both amazing. They were attentive to my needs and have put me on the road to recovery. The front desk staff were friendly and acknowledged me as soon as I entered the office. I have nothing but good things to say about this practice. Thanks. :)

I recently saw Dr. Shrikhande at NY Bone & Joint Specialists, and it was a very good experience. Dr. Shrikhande is very knowledgeable, patient, compassionate and determined to get to the root of the problem, and really listened to my somewhat complex situation. The office staff were very professional and courteous, and the X-​Ray technician could not have been nicer. The wait time was reasonable for middle of the day, and the exam was thorough and not rushed at all. I highly recommend.

If only every doctor cared enough about their patients to take the time to figure out what is wrong I would not have been suffering in pain for over a year and Dr Shrikhande did just that. When the MRI she ordered for me did not show anything wrong she did not stop there she continued on and on with other tests until she found the source of my debilitating pain-​tendinosis and enthesopathy which I am now treating with a physical therapy program. I have been seen by 21, yes 21 doctors this past year, hospitalized twice from the pain and neither one of them could find out what was wrong until I went to see Dr Shrikhande. I consider her God sent. I cannot thank you enough Dr. Shrikhande. You are truly Amazing!!!

I saw Dr. Isaac for a finger issue. Everyone in the office was professional and efficient. Dr. Isaac helped me quickly to resolve my issue. Thank you so much for the excellent care!

My experience with the doctors and services at the NY Bone and Joint Specialists has been fantastic. My right know pain was diagnosed perfectly and am on my way doing physical therapy to heal and get it back to normal functionality. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

First — they messed up my appointment day and time not once. not twice. but THREE times. It was unreal. Then, I waited at least an hour and a half to see the doctor, who then seemed baffled by my injury, almost convinced I was making it up. My shoulder had a minor dislocation, which I could pop back in and which I took photos of when it was out. If it wasn’t for the photos, I am convinced he would have told me I was lying. Went to another doctor today who is thinks it’s all the result of a torn rotator cuff and ordered an MRI immediately. What an utter waste of time this place was. I would be further down the road to recovery had I gone elsewhere.

I am so sorry the people below had bad experiences. Mine yesterday was nothing like theirs.
I have had, unfortunately, a lot of experience at dr’s offices over the years. Shoulder surgery, spinal fusion, physical therapy and radiology appointments related to the previous, etc etc. NEVER have I had something that was as quick, painless, and pleasant as my experience yesterday.
The receptionist that took my call to make the appointment fit me in for the first available with Dr. Schildhorn, which happened to be first thing the next am. This may have been pure luck, but she seemed trying hard to accommodate me ASAP based on my need. I was told to speed the process along I could find and fill out the registration forms online, and have them ready for the morning. I did that.
When I arrived, I was seen on time. There was virtually no wait. I arrived on crutches and the admin staff as they collected my documents let me sit and came to me to get what they needed. The office on W 55^th also has a Lenox Hill Radiology dept in their office. For those with radiology needs, to know there is equipment that good with technicians trained well and on location is not something you find everywhere. Not to mention having a physical therapy office in the same location as your doctor/​surgeon.
Check in was a breeze, went right in for xray, that also was fast and painless with a wonderful tech. I was brought in to see Dr. Shildhorn and had no wait. He had an amazing bed side manner, made me feel at ease, did not recommend anything I do not need, and, as a courtesy, suggested I make my follow up at their other location closer to my office.
I can not say enough amazing things about this practice, and I have already recommended it to another friend with a severe knee issue.
I was in and out in less than an hour, which truly was amazing.

I came to NY Bone & Joint on a referral from my GP, after being hit (in a crosswalk) by an SUV which broke my left shoulder in 5 places. (This was a few days after I was sent home in a sling by St. Luke’s emergency personnel.) The reception personnel were polite and efficient, and I felt cared-​for from Day One. (There was only one time I had to wait more than 5 or 10 minutes past my appointment time, and that was because of an emergency patient who had just come in.)
After filling out the paperwork, I was seen immediately by Dr. Schildhorn, who was kind, sympathetic and connected — unlike so many doctors who seem like mechanics dealing with an unfamiliar piece of machinery (BTW, his photo doesn’t do him justice). After taking thorough X-​rays he and I discussed them (they were pretty scary to an untrained eye) and my options, and he told me he had high hopes but couldn’t guarantee a return to 100% mobility. I so appreciated the honesty! Dr. Schildhorn told me surgery was an option, but that surgery might leave more internal scar tissue and a longer healing time. On this recommendation I opted not to have surgery but to keep my arm immobilized until the pain subsided and I could get out of the sling (about 6 weeks). He had me come back for follow-​up X-​rays several times to be sure the bone was knitting properly, and sent me for an MRI of my elbow (which was still very painful weeks later) to be sure there were no bone chips causing the pain. (There were none — the pain was largely from internal bleeding that collected above and below the joint, which was locked in position in the sling all that time.)
I then proceeded into 4 months of physical therapy at All Sports (right next to NY Bone & Joint), seeing the doctor several times during that period to check on my progress, with which he was very pleased. When I had run the course of therapy and healed as much as I ever will (there are still a few extreme positions where my arm won’t stretch to, but essentially I am healed), Dr. Schildhorn made a point of asking me, «Don’t disappear» and encouraging me to contact him if I felt any pain. He was everything I could ask for in a doctor, and I am frankly stunned by bad reviews other patients have written — my experience at NY Bone & Joint was totally the opposite!

Oh, good, I’m the Dutchess for now. Great. These guys do an ok job — somehow any time I’ve been here they are behind though … which I would expect later in the day, but first thing? I somehow got roped into more follow-​ups than seemed necessary, granted I don’t have a medical degree. They only accept cash/​check, no credit card. Happy to hand my crown off — any takers?

This is genuinely the WORST place I have ever been to.
I called the office prior to my visit and asked if I could fill out the new patient paperwork in advance in order to decrease any potential wait time (given my limited one-​hour lunch break). I filled out everything, arrived on time, and HAD TO WAIT OVER TWO HOURS TO BE SEEN! Only after 2 hours had elapsed and I got up and threatened to leave, did the secretary run to the back room and ask Dr. Schildhorn to see me.
But it gets worse. On top of the INSANE wait, I was informed that their office would reach out to my insurance company to ensure they’d cover my MRI. However, OVER A MONTH HAS ELAPSED and I haven’t heard anything. So I called my insurance company asking for a status update AND THEY SAID THE OFFICE NEVER CALLED. In turn, I called the office, and was «promised» I’d receive a callback that day with an explanation. No surprise, I didn’t receive a call. Too bad I wasted my time filling out the new patient paperwork because you couldn’t PAY me to return to this poor excuse for an office. Seriously, save your time and money and go somewhere that’s organized where you’ll be treated properly.
