BE WARNED. This club billed my credit card fraudulently. They charged me $ 69.95 on May 1^st, which is my monthly membership, then $ 49.95 on May 28^th and $ 69.95 on June 1^st. I am looking forward to seeing a class action lawsuit against their business practices.

Town Sports is opening themselves up for a serious lawsuit. Over 90% of the jump sports (trampolines) are broken and they refuse to replace them even after being bombarded with requests, emails and photos. A woman fell and hurt her lower back a few weeks ago because the legs were loose as well as missing the suction cups that stabilize the unit.
Outrageous that this company would chance injuries to their members just to save a few bucks.
Remember I said it here, it’s just a matter of time.

The NYSC in general is a rip off company. What happened is, I invited a friend to Nysc who became a member in February of 2015. Because I didn’t use my membership in November of 2015 I’ve cancelled my membership.
Just a couple of days ago (may of 2016) I lost my credit card, so I’ve called the bank. It’s turned out Nysc charging my credit card for my friends account because he didn’t pay for his membership. I’ve never gave them any rights, to do that. Never signed any form of papers to authorize that. I’ve used this credit car only for a one time payment for my own account. I was told in the phone the system automatically changed the information. That is a lie. Also I was told they won’t give my money back. I was charged not only for his monthly fees but also for the non payed months before September so the total amount is over $ 1200.- 9 months. I think it’s a credit card fraud, it means they broke the law!!!

Trainers are not respectful for other customers. On top of the central music playing, they also play their music loudly. Two types of loud music turns into noise. Avoid nysc

Went on a Saturday to register as a new member. The girl at the front who is always on her phone should be fired. I signed up and she could barely even get off her phone to sign me up. Texting and snapchat are more important than getting new customers?
She was slow and almost made me late for another destination that I had to go to.

Lol this place is amazing… ly bad. I went here on a 1 day trail to see if I could get a better deal than my current gym. I lift weights and I am currently at the YMCA. I love it, but the equipment and the space to do floor excerices (while nice) is a little limited. So I was looking for a gym that has more equipment and a bit more space. I always pass this gym on my way to work and was interested in trying it out. So I got the one day trial and once you walk up the stairs into the gym it looks cool lots of cardio equipment (although I hate cardio, but gotta do it) and some extra equipment behind it. The staff was really nice and the womens locker room was clean and orderly (I hear the mens room, not so much.) However, I am interested in the bench area, and holy crap this place was a mess. None of the weights were where they were supposed to be. I had to walk all over the weight area to find 25 lb dumbbells. I eventually cut my workout short cause this place was so disorganized. I will be staying at the Y for now.

What’s wrong with the girl who sits at the desk on Sunday mornings? She’s on her phone texting and when I try to get her attention so I can check in, she pretends not to hear me. Then she barely moves an inch to check me in and she’s right back to the texting. I have to ask her for a towel (she wouldn’t offer one otherwise) and she turns around to get one for me like she’s dying (she’s probably about 20 years old). Then when I say I need to get a pass for my class, she gives me a dirty look and goes back to texting on her phone. Is this customer service? I sent a complaint to corporate, but never got a response. The girl is still working there, still texting, still with the dirty looks, never says hello, never smiles, hardly even looks up. What’s she even doing there? Community service? Not very pleasant.

I’ve tried different NYSC locations and by far, this is the WORST one out of all of them.
Walked in and a shit faced receptionist who looked like a high school student didn’t even look up from her cell phone long enough to scan us in or ask us if we needed towels.
I went in to change and came back out to get my towels, nearly had to snap my fingers to get her attention.
Equipments aren’t very well kept. A lot of them were broken or run down and not functioning properly.
There might as well have been spider webs and mice with the amount of effort they seem to have invested in the upkeep.
I read about the steam room BJ incident here so didn’t have much expectations walking in.
Still there was a woman texting away in the sauna completely disregarding the no electronic devices sign on the door which I complained about to the front desk, obviously they did not take any action.
I guess in some ways, their local client base molded the quality of service to what it is.
If management isn’t motivated to make a decent business, their employees are just not going to care, and in turn attract the kind of crowd that taint their reputation. Will another steam room «incident» make them realize how crappy they are? Or will it have to be a harder blow? (not literally.)

Probably the best New York Sports Club in the area, Manhattan that is. Great location near union square and it’s all one large floor, like a loft layout. No need to go up and down stairs, no dingy basements. One big layout with plenty of machines and weights, what a proper gym should be.

I’ve only been to this location once but I do have some things to say about it… First of all its small gym but its quaint. I like that there are many cool very new looking weight lifting machines and one of personal trainers I spoke to was very friendly. There are windows which must be nice during the day but not much use in the evening which is the time that I went. My problem with this location was that there were NO TOWELS IN THE LOCKER ROOM! I had to ask for one at front desk and as NYSC towels are typically on the small side, I usually use 2 for showering but as I had to get towels at the front desk I could only get one. The women showers also had the old style curtain instead of the glass doors which most NYSC locations have these days.

deceptive practices; I went in three times under three different promotions and stormed away each time because what they promote and what you get are totally different; $ 19.95/ month? Yes, with no classes included.
Teachers special? Yes, if you don’t use the gym after 4:30, which is when the teachers are available to come. That’s not a teacher’s special, it’s a pay less, get less special.
$ 19.95 a month? Oh, did they forget to mention the $ 200 initiation fee? And don’t think you’re getting towels for that price… the towels are for the elite members. Got to love a caste system.
I complained to corporate headquarters and wasn’t even given a courtesy response.
There’s so much competition out there, they should be banned.
Ladies…if you live close to Mamaroneck, NY, try Healthy Fit. Wonderful company and they can’t do enough to please its clients.

Been going here for almost a year and never had an issue until today
I go into the male sauna room and what do I see? A male giving another male head. yeah I said it HEAD. And there was other males in there like if there was nothing wrong with it…
Very disgusting. Will need to talk to the main office on monday.

I want to convert my passport membership to the $ 19.95 monthly was told I must sign up as new member paying enrollment and annual fee $ 250…that’s total bull when I became a member I paid enrollment fee… that should be waived

I just quit after being a member for over 15 years. The 14^th street gym in particular used to be amazing: Spacious, sunny, all one floor, and full of new equipment.
I started going to this branch when it opened (2002?) Unfortunately, the gym seems to have decided to position themselves as more of an economy gym. They often run out of towels with no warning, and simply don’t have any available for days at a time. Equipment often breaks down and may be out of order for weeks. The free weights are often misplaced, and I wasted way too much of my life hunting that gym floor for a pair of matching 25 pound dumbbells. More than once I saw a pile of dumbbells thrown into a pile that seemed like a genuine danger to the people walking around it trying to get to their workouts. And the bathroom was often disgusting.
The last straw for me, however, was the lack of interest from management. If you ask the front desk about a problem, they sort of shrug and let you know the problem is not under their jurisdiction. If you send an email through the web site it goes unanswered.
I can only assume that NYSC’s new pricing plan is a reflection of their decision to fully commit to becoming a cheaper, low-​end gym, and the service there will continue to decline accordingly.

Let’s face it, it’s NYSC, a chain fitness club that has pretty decent prices for what it provides — of course it’ll never hit 5 stars. But when I work out, I stray to this location because of the equipment they have, specifically the Woodway treadmills. These treadmills are shock absorbent so they’re better for your joints. Plus, it doesn’t feel like you’re slamming your feet down on hard ground; it provides a more natural feel when running. This location is spacious and you have the option of watching tv when working out.
Aside from that note, I did notice that the pile of dirty towels was towering over in the locker room today. There also weren’t any wipes for me to clean down the equipment. gross! Maintenance needs major improvement so I knock down half a star to 3.5. If you like classes, they have some with great instructors so be sure to stick to them.

I got a monthly pass from living social for about $ 20, which is an awesome deal to check out the place before I decide to commit with this gym. Overall, it’s pretty clean and I enjoy the classes very much. Some machines are broken though and it’s annoying during rush hours. Some of them are outdated. The dumbbell area is pretty messy, I always have to hunt down the smaller weights. Ugh. The membership manager is real sweet though!

The worst customer service and management. Lazy and stupid.
My phone literally died talking on the phone with them and waiting on hold for hours to resolve a billing issue. I really hope they will fire every single person who runs the place and hire people that actually fit and care about customers.

Three stars for big layout and large windows. Best NYSC around in that respect. Plenty of machines and not much waiting. Pretty nice staff also
Minus two for nasty nasty locker rooms. Clean up the actual bathroom and shower area and get rid of the rugs!
The layout is pretty dumb and they should put both entrances to the locker rooms in the same vicinity.
Repairs to machines take foreverrrrrr.

Let me preface this by saying that my 4-​star rating is mostly for the instructors at this NYSC location… and the fact that they have a steam room. (Why can’t all NYSCs have them??)
For a location that’s pretty busy, I’d say they do a pretty good job at keeping it clean. It can definitely get really packed, but this is the only location I would go out of the way for just to work out at… and here’s why:
Delida. She is the club’s best kept secret. If you don’t see more positive reviews for this location by some of her students, it’s because they don’t want to attract any more people to her already-​full classes. I’ve seen first-​hand people argue and get into fights trying to claim a «spot» in her class, even with NYSC’s reservation system. Countless times, I have had to set my alarm to 5:50AM just to call in and reserve a spot for her rebounding classes. Not even kidding. She has a very loyal (and serious) following, and I found myself jumping on that bandwagon after I attended a few classes.
Not only does Delida make her classes fun and challenging, she really WORKS you out. It’s like having a personal training session each time I attend one of her classes… except her classes are REALLY full, to capacity. and if you’re not exactly motivated to work out on a particular day, you can bet that the energy of the other students will infect you and get your butt back into gear.
I’ve also taken a few other classes (a spin and pilates class with Kevin, who is also great)… I’m not really into Zumba, but I know there are two instructors there who also have a loyal following. For Spin, Kate is great. She’s really positive, owns a great playlist, and really encourages her students to push themselves without coming off as barking orders.
Overall, if you live nearby, I would definitely check out this location for their classes.
