While this branch doesn’t have as large of a selection as some other branches, they do tend to get copies of the newest books. They also have a semi decent sized DVD collection from which I can usually locate an older movie to watch. My favorite part of the NYPL system is the ability to put in requests online(both new and old books and dvds) and request them to be sent to my local branch at 115th Street and then I am emailed when they have arrived to come pick it up. The librarians here are also friendly and help you with finding the items you requested and checking them out. Sometimes they will even nicely ask your opinion on the item or tell your their thoughts or make recommendations when you are returning them. The biggest improvement this location could make would be installing a book drop, Many patrons are not able to get there during their open hours and it would be nice to not stress about the hefty fines you might incur if you don’t get them back on their due date if you could just drop the items into the book drop earlier in the morning or later in the evening, it would make things much much easier on their full time working patrons. The nYPL is the only library system I have seen that does not have a book drop at all their locations.
