I also have had some of the same trouble that people have mentioned below. I paid in full for my course and then never ever heard from anyone ever again. I went thru some extenuating personal problems since paying in full and would like to finish my course now but I’m being told I need to pay more money if I want to finish. It is clear from some of the responses form NYIP below that exceptions can and have been made for other students. I have asked that they allow me to finish now without paying more money since I already paid in full but it seems that they will not allow it. I wish things could be different.

The course materials are outdated, they still include film as part of the curriculum, the staff is unresponsive at best and at one point even tried to claim a social media page setup independently by students qualified as their student forums advertised and seemed to think it was unreasonable to expect them to have a working forum.
Do yourself a favor, go buy a copy digital photography for dummies and a grey card and you’ll end up with a better education.
edited 12/​10/​2015 — I am following up my review to reflect the fact that the president of the school personally called me last week to apologize for my experience and then proved the sincerity of his words by voluntarily offering a full refund of my tuition which was delivered promptly via Fedex Monday. At the very least this company has integrity above most I’ve dealt with.

I used NYIP back in 1988 and have really improved as a hobbyist, but I wanted to get more info on Digital Photography so did the Fundamentals of Photography Course. The instructor was great and the advice was well-​written and informative. They are very down to earth. What I did not like was the slow communication. My Project 2 was rejected for no «signed enrollment forms» which is silly since I paid for the course and it took some time to get the photos together for the project. Still waiting for a reply. It would have been better if they emailed me about the rejection but I only just found out about it.
I do recommend the course overall; it’s been well known to turn out great photographers for many many years and is a pro course, not for amateurs. Just waiting for an answer and getting my certificate. :)

The course was fine, I work as a photographer and I’m loving it. But the communication between NYIP and students outside the USA sucks! It doesn’t exists! I have completed my course and sent my gradforms twice already and after one and a half month, I’m still waiting for my certificate. I received some gradforms in PDF, emailed to me by A. Linares from NYIP. I filled the forms and forwarded them to this person on March 10^th. On March 11^th, I received the same forms in a PDF from info@nyip, asking me to fill them and send them back. I explained that I already did it the day before, and I forward the mail to info@nyip. Then. the silence. After one and a half month, nothing has arrived to me, therefore I emailed to A. Linares yesterday, asking where my certificate is. No reply. Today, April 24^th, I’ve just reveived an email from info@nyip asking me to fill the gradforms in order to get my certificate!!! For the THIRD time! I reply that I already sent them TWICE! The stiff answer sounds: «you must fill the online forms attached above, this is the only way for you to get your certificate» Then WHY ON EARTH have you sent my the wrong forms to fill, to start with??? And again, why didn’t you tell me that YOU’ve sent me the wrong forms, when I forwarded the first mail containing the forms to you??? Your chaotic disorganization has made me waste one and a half month!!! And I haven’t even heard a «SORRY»! Get a grip, please, take things seriously and show some respects to your students! The only positive thing during the whole course was the great feedback from my instructor Philip Mauro. Great feedback, useful and clear, thanks Mr. Mauro! It is a shame not to recommend the NYIP for students outside the USA, only because people in charge of something called COMMUNICATION don’t do their job, but I truly don’t recommend the NYIP to overseas students, we are being treated as «second hand» students.

I am taking the 100% online Professional Photography course. At the moment I am about 70% done with the material, and up to this point I am more than thrilled with my return on investment. Everything is available online, but you can still get the print materials as well, which is handy since I like to read away from the computer quite a bit. Also, I can take everything at a pace the is comfortable for me. The most valuable portion of the course is the reviews you get back from your mentor no each of your photo projects. These are priceless.
I highly recommend that you give this school a shot. You will not be disappointed.

Spent $ 1000 on this course and received outdated materials and videos made in the ‘70s. I think I even got a cassette tape! I had nowhere to play it! The information is great, but the medium was poor. I submitted the photos from course one for evaluation and was happy with the response, but was discouraged by how old everything was, it seriously needed a makeover.
So I was very excited to read in Popular Photography magazine that the courses have now all been updated and are available online! I sent an email asking for a log-​in for the online classes, but was told that I would have to pay another $ 1000 to access that material!
When I signed up, one of the selling points was that would be a student for 3 years, and I confirmed that I am still well within that time-​frame, so I really can’t understand why I can’t continue what I have paid for, online.

I purchased the full course and asked that all materials be sent up front. I did not receive all materials and have asked more than once that they be forwarded immediately. I am still waiting, and they promised to make good on them more than two weeks ago. Buy a good book or two, you will learn as much, especially if you don’t receive your materials either. Don’t deal with Hubert — he ignores you COMPLETELY and isn’t friendly when he does respond!

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY AND TIME!!! I signed up for «Digital Photography: The Complete Course» because in order to progress to other seminars and such I needed to learn Photoshop which the advisors promised would be covered. I have a very demanding job so not having to sit in a classroom appealed to me very much.
First of all, the materials are copyrighted in 2003 which is lightyears behind where digital cameras are now. They spend an extraordinary amount of time talking about FILM yet this is a digital course. The DVD weekend workshops are a joke to see the dean Chuck DeLaney running around with a disposable camera. They talk about BIG memory cards being 512MB.
In turning in my first homework assignment, it took over a month before I got any feedback. When I called in they said it normally takes 3 weeks.
Seriously, they’ve lost all credibility with me and I really regret giving my money to these people.
