If you are a homeless woman or become one, here’s the warning for you, please don’t go there because, there was the program director named Marianne and she is a loud, rude, disrespectful, pushy, hostile, aggressive, obnoxious, arrogant b! tch and she’s the type you want to go smack the fire out of her dusty a$$.good thing I jumped in her face, clapped my hands in her face, yelled at her, cussed her out and called every name from the book and I even said to her i will get my goonettes on her and until then, I got that bitch shook because, she know who’s the real alpha female is. don’t get me wrong, other staff I didn’t have a problem with but her, I was about to file a complaint about her but, she tried to cover herself up by silencing me, I’m telling you, that thing is a bully and I hope and pray to god one day, she will meet somebody will be worse than her by clapping her in her manly a$$ face. i hope you’re reading this, Marianne: fu*k you, you roach a$$ b! tch because one day, karma is coming after you for bullying women just because you got more fortune and privilege than the homeless women and God don’t like ugly and so is you, dusty a$$ cunt. youre the reason why I don’t fu*k with religious people because, ya are bunch of wolves of sheep’s clothing and ya full of $hit.Jesus would never act like you, he would forgive me and forget about the consequences, that’s what he would do since you claimed to be «born again Christian», fu*k out of here with that, you need to miss me with this BS.

I’ve been donating things to the Mission a few times/​year for the past few years (my husband’s clothes that are still in good condition, but which he no longer wants or needs — and a few other types of items, such as sheets & blankets we didn’t need). The people at the front desk have always been very friendly — and also compassionate, as with one time when a resident was talking very loudly on the phone in a somewhat panicked-​sounded voice and the desk person whispered to me «he’s talking to his daughter» — and the place seems very clean.

I came here because I needed a place to sleep for a while and I got the help I needed. However, they have people here that have been here a very long time, petty clicks that have formed, and the staff is arrogant. It reminds me of high school; beware. You should keep to yourself but even then you might find some friction with troublemakers. It kinda also reminds me of jail

Last week I saw the line of people queuing up for dinner, and last night I volunteered to help out. The shelter is clean, and so are its clients. They serve a fresh tasty dinner, no questions asked, to whoever shows up. Many of the workers are permanent residents there, and they are polite and well-​mannered people. David Knoche is the Volunteer Coordinator, and he is open to any type of volunteer assistance. A worthwhile organization.

The New York City Rescue Mission is an awesome organization that is seeking to end homelessness and hunger in New York City, one life at a time. They provide hope and dignity to many people who are often forgotten and seen as the least in our society. The vision they have is amazing and the effort they put in to provide the best for «the least» is tremendous.
If you are looking for a place to serve are donate to, I would highly recommend the NYC Rescue Mission because it is a place that you can trust to use the time and money you provide to really help those in need.

I just read Vice news about what you guys did. Generalizing the entire homeless people as drug addicts, so therefore they shouldn’t be given money? Wow, talking about bigotry. You guys belong to a rescue mission for God’s sake. the reason you provided to the press to dissuade Chen from giving his money to the homeless is most hypocritical. And sure, there are many rich people out there who think homeless people are druggies and good-​for-​nothing scums, but such kind of generalizing statement coming out of a charity organization is despicable. I have seen Chen giving money to the poor before, in Taiwan, and he refused to give money to the young and the able because he believe they can work for those money. But he still gave out hundreds of cash bundles to the impoverished that came before him. You see, Chen is more than capable of making decisions on his own without you feeding him with all the prejudice and generalization. He is a rich man, you could have ask him for additional funds, but no, you chose to steal from the promise he made publicly. That is just terrible!

With being privileged to go to the amount of places to go and enjoying life, it is always a good feeling to give back to those less fortunate and struggling when you can.
Came here last week to donate some clothes and as cliché as it sounds it really puts things in perspective when you see a line of hungry and homeless people waiting to receive a meal or being given essentials.
This donation/​rescue place stays open from very early in the day to about 11pm I believe at night for donations and you can donate pretty much anything as long at it helps those in need. I donated some shirts, a pair of jeans and several bars of soap. I definitely want to start donating more because everyone, especially if they fall on hard times should be provided for with bare necessities.

Amazing people. Amazing Mission!

A group of buddies and I volunteered here on Christmas Eve on very short notice. We signed up for the 11 – 2:30 pm shift & were warmly greeted by everyone there when we walked in — from the Salvation Army volunteer to the front desk.
After a quick sign in, we were led downstairs to the kitchen where we put our stuff away and given clean warm aprons and hair nets. Unfortunately we weren’t able to help with making the food (they started cooking at 4AM!) but we had plenty of work distributing the meals, refilling utensils, and cleaning up afterwards.
The cooks/​other volunteers were extremely nice and chatted us up the entire time, making us feel right at home. The food honestly looked and smelled amazing too! The first shift of people who came in for a meal were residents of the center and the second shift was open to anyone who was looking for a meal. Everyone was cordial and gave us a thank you and smile. A few really meant it when they said this was the best thing they could look forward to during the holiday season and moments like that are the reasons why I volunteer :)
