MTA – Broadway-Lafayette Subway Station

If you’re looking to waste your time and try to get to your destination late? Look no further, this is the place! I absolutely HATE waiting for the brooklyn bound B/​D train here because it takes forever.

Finally connecting from F train to 6 train is much easier and convenient without surfacing to street level. This station makes my destination to NoHo/​Soho accessible as previously there were no passageway that connects the B, D, F or M trains to the 6 train.
When transferring from the 6 train platform to the F train, look above at the ceiling to be immersed with «Hive» by Leo Villareal, a colorful pentagon neon lights that changes colors. So cool!

The 6, B, D, F, and M train goes here and if you walk a block down, you can transfer to the R or N train.
When you go up to the 6 train platform you get to enjoy the beautiful lights from the «Hive» by Leo Villareal.
There are multiple exits making it convenient to exit closer to your destination.
Everything about this train station is great except the ceiling is always dripping with water regardless of whether it rains or not. I’m not looking to get no nasty water to fall on me!

This is, when all is said and done and done and said, an «A-​OK» Manhattan subway stop. On the plus side, it opened on January 1, 1936. Also, it has four tracks — AND two island platforms.
On the negative, the B and D trains stop at the inner express tracks, while F and M trains stop at the outer local tracks; so if you’re not into the BDFM scene, this might not be your stop. On the other hand, if it’s consensual, it can be a powerful expression of love. This one girl really changed my life — but I guess that’s a story for another website.
Many commentators have noted that both outer track walls have a blue trim line on a black border and small «BROADWAY» signs beneath in white lettering on a black border. That’s true. What they usually fail to not omit is that large blue columns run along either side of both platforms at regular intervals with alternating ones having the standard black station name plate and white lettering. So, it’s really a matter of personal taste. The other big thing about this subway stop is that the center of both platforms have three staircases that go up to a mezzanine, where wide staircases on either side go up to the station’s three fare control areas. This leads us, logically, to a number of consequences:
A) The full-​time side is at the west end (railroad north). It has a turnstile bank, token booth, and two staircases going up to either eastern corners of Broadway and East Houston Street.
B) The southeastern one is built inside an alcove of an Adidas Sport Performance Center.
C) The station’s other fare control areas lead to exits on either side of East Houston Street.
D) In one fare control area, a set of full height turnstiles lead to two separate entrances leading to East Houston Street between Lafayette and Crosby Streets, on the south side.
E) In the other fare control area, another set of full height turnstiles leads to another entrance on Lafayette Street and Houston Street, on the north side.
There isn’t a guide there to tell you this, so be sure to read my review before taking this stop as a means of getting on the subway as a means of getting somewhere as a means of accomplishing something in life as a means of attaining a personal goal as a means of feeling a sense of accomplishment as a means of ignoring the obvious fact of mortality as a means of transcending existential meaninglessness as a means of not going insane.

A nice station, not too near anything I usually go to, but I like it just the same.

You can get to the 6 from here so that’s good. It’s not a station that feels creepy or nasty like some of the ones on the line. There’s space here. I typically take the F or M so I don’t really know much about getting the 6. Otherwise, just your typical subway station. I believe there’s also some scant cell phone reception in parts.

Yay for being able to transfer from the F to an uptown 6! Finally!!!
I’ve waited years for this wish to come true. It’s much easier than what I used to do: exit and walk over to Bleecker to catch the 6.
Boooooo, for getting to the 6 platform and noticing that it’s roped off and the 6 isn’t stopping at the station. (With NO notice on the MTA site or any apps for the iPhone).
