My experiences in store were great. I loved the range and bought a pair of spectacles. A year later the brass tip of the arm fell off making it scratchy to wear and so I wrote in to have it replaced. What followed was a convoluted and expensive attempt at replacement — where in my opinion, parts shouldn’t be falling off in the first place! And when they do you would hope they can be easily replaced at little inconvenience to you. I still think Moscot makes beautiful glasses but disappointingly doesn’t quite have the high quality assurance or good customer service that other quality-​promising brands do. Something to keep in mind if you’re thinking of making a purchase!

My favorite place to get glasses.
I have been coming here since I was 12, my dad has been coming here since he was a kid and my grandfather got his glasses here. This place has been a part of my family for a very long time.
I enjoy the service that I get here, as it is same-​day. The only thing that may deter me from coming here would be the prices. Their styles are so trendy that they are in high demand and can get too pricey for my pocket. It all pays off in the end with the service and quality of the frames.

This place is great. I walked in while waiting for my tour to start at the Tenement Museum across the street. The staff was very helpful and friendly that I ended up buying a great pair of frames. The sales person Brett helped me and he went out of his way to pick out the best frames fro my face. Both the price and customer service are wonderful. They guarantee all their frames. I live in Philly and go up to New York at least once a month to «Hang Out’ I will be returning to Moscot for future frames.

I finally found a good eye dr in nyc via my roommate. The doctor was super nice, explained everything she was doing, was patient with me and even let me put on mock glasses after she had my prescription so that I could let her know if anything seemed odd. I’ve never had that and I’ve been wearing glasses forever.
She was very professional, the staff was really nice! They take VSP insurance only, but you can see if your insurance company will reimburse you, it might be about the same.
I asked for my prescription, I like to have it on file for ordering contacts online or Warby Parker glasses. Usually the eye doctor will challenge me because they don’t want me to buy from anywhere else. Here there was no pushback! They just gave it to me.
This is my 3^rd eye doctor since moving to NY and I have no plans on looking for another.
I might look at their frames next time I’m there, they cost a little more but I’ll check it out.

Been coming here since I was in college in the 70’s. They always do what they can to help, even though I often bring my own frames in for lenses. Also have been wearing their style for decades. It’s always an event to go to Sol Moscot in my fathers old neighborhood, whatever is left of it.

Great little shop with a solid selection if you’re more fashonable than I am. Great for browsing even if you’re not visually impaired.

I absolutely love this place! Over the past two months, in numerous visits with my other half, my best friend and myself, I’ve experienced nothing but top notch service, professionalism and uncommon dedication to their clientele. We had a bit of a snafu with our Care Credit funding and several of the employees, in particular, Joann, went above and beyond to help us. Joann is an absolute superstar and deserves a raise and a gold medal for everything she did to help me get my glasses and prescription sunglasses. I will never go anywhere else for my optical needs again!

Sam b’s comment is completely false. I have been going to MOSCOT for years and have several frames, I also have a pair of Warby’s. Warby Parker is made in China, hence there is a stamp on it saying made in China. Moscot has been around for 100 years for a reason, they simply have the BEST frames. Highest quality eyeglasses around, period. Highly recommend.

I own a frame of theirs and was happy with it first… then i started thinking:
They act like an old traditional NYC family store and people pay the high prices to support them.
I did too, until i realized that the frames are made in China which made me feel deceived.
I would have rather given my money to a eye glass maker like Warby Parker, which sells good looking, all US made frames for much less money…

I love the design of the glasses but what is really good here are the technicians and the range of high end lenses available.
The first fitting was kind of a disaster, but they immediately ordered new lenses and had them fitted!

Their frames are well designed.
And Frankie was helpful, knowledgeable, and fun to talk with.
No store is perfect, but I like these guys and have been a costumer for years.

I’m sorry it’s taken me so long to reply.
I admit I just assumed that I would only be given the same information I was given when I brought the glasses back to Moscot the first week I had them. I was convinced I was given the wrong prescription. They assured me it was correct and told me about the «failure to adapt» policy. They explained they would take out the bifocal lenses and replace them with reading lenses.
I already have a pair of $ 5 reading glasses from the dime store that work.
My Moscot glasses cost $ 600 because I included the invisible line bifocals and photochromic lenses.
I couldn’t see the point in turning my $ 600 glasses into a pair of $ 5 glasses.
So I threw them in the drawer and kept trying to «adapt».
They’ve adapted to the drawer nicely.
I’m wearing the $ 5 pair.
Again, Moscot is a nice looking store with very nice people, I just couldn’t advice buying bifocals there.

It’s a really nice store. They recently moved locations, from across the street. I have to say I enjoy speaking with Frank. He is very nice and is always happy to help me adjust and straighten out my glasses. He’s the best.

Came to Moscots to pick up frames before going to my insured optometrist. Place has a lot of history and this can be seen just by looking all around the walls.
You’ll also be paying less than you would for designer brands all owned by a luxotica (Oliver people’s, persons, Ralph Lauren, Prada. Chanel– the list goes and on).
I was immediately assisted by a wonderful sales associate. We spoke of what I needed and discussed any concerns I had. There is no rush here. I was torn between not only different models and colors, but the sizes amongst one particular model and color.
Take your time, and ask for everyone’s opinion around the shop. They’ll be honest and attentive.
After making my choice I was rung up for a total of $ 240 (most specs run about this much) that come with the typical 1 year limited warranty, hard case and a fabric tote bag.
Wonderful shopping experience and great staff. Will stop by again when it calls for it.

Amazing customer service all-​around — actually, the best customer service I’ve had in a long time.
I initially went in just to see the doctor (who was fantastic) for a contact lens script, but after talking to an associate named Brett, I picked out frames that I’m absolutely in love with. I get compliments on them all the time, and I actually haven’t even used the contacts that I initially paid Moscot a visit for.
If you’re in the market for some amazing frames and great customer service, look no further.

Every Third Thursdays, Moscot showcases artists to play in store. For CMJ 2013, Nick Waterhouse belted out 10 songs in front of a small audience at the newly relocated Delancey location (now SE corner Delancey and Orchard). It is always a treat witnessing live performance in such a private setting, I felt special. Other artists I’ve had the privilege seeing are Jaymay, Brett Dennen, Madi Diaz, Avan Lava, French Horn Rebellion, among many others. What an awesome lineup!
Tip: the store offers 20% discount during Moscot Music nights. Score!

I made an appointment last week after one of my coworkers raved about them. I walked over with her to the Orchard Street location on our way home; we happen to live along the same train line. She was there to pick up her frames. OMG! They were sooooo cute. The shop was whimsically retro so I decided to take the plunge and make an appointment for myself.
Today, I went in for my exam and to choose frames. I saw Dr. Kevin Rosin. I was amazed at how much time he took with me. He was almost making me nervous as he meticulously looked at each angle of my eyes with different magnifying glasses. I have never had an eye doctor do this before. I was glad he was so thorough, but it made me sense something was wrong. He reassured me it was nothing, but found I had chronic dry eyes and gave me a prescription for that. It wasn’t a surprise; I had heard this before, but no one had actually offered to treat it before.
Afterwards, it was time to pick frames. There were a few people on the floor waiting to also try stuff on. I waited patiently and an adorable pudgy older man with unruly greys asked me if I was being helped. I told him playfully that I was waiting for him. He was in the middle of helping someone else so I patiently waited for my turn. He was great! He chose my frames for me. Don’t get me wrong; I tried on many pairs, at least 12, but could not find any that fit me or flattered me more than the ones he picked out. I had gone online and had some ideas of what I was going to get, but ended up with something completely different.
I got the Lucy in tortoise from last year’s collection. These are no longer available. He took his time explaining about my new lenses and all the options available, but once I told him I was looking for affordability, he didn’t try to oversell me on coatings or whatever. He even said to make sure that when I picked up my glasses that I came back to see him so he can show me how the new lenses work. Regretfully, I had to get the progressive lenses or how our parents knew them «bifocals». Yes, my eyes are aging, but no one will know with my cool new frames and no incriminating lines on my lenses ;)
I gave 4 stars because I did end up spending more than I thought I would, but then again, it was due to the ‘special’ lenses *sigh*
But still, I cannot wait for the 2 weeks to pass for my new glasses to come back from the lab!!!

New & modern upgrade after all these years. They do not take all insurances so call in advance & check before making the trip.

Doesn’t get any better than Moscot if you want an iconic eyewear experience — not just because of the history — you’ll find some weird frame fit for the streets, that late night hipster show, or some hot first date you want to impress.
Plastics are their thing. If you want plain frames, go to LensCrafters.
Eye exams are quick, easy and accurate (Dr. Katelyn Rogerson is great!). Killer frame selection. Great service.
Frames run on the pricey side ($ 200+), but we’re talking about your eyes, as well as your style. And I don’t think you want to put a price on either.
