History
Established in 2008.
It was a very wise person who once said, «Only a thief would receive a gift, and not share it.» (interpreting a line in Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra).
It has been a tremendous blessing to me, a great fortune, to have studied the great ancient wisdom traditions of classical Chinese medicine and classical yoga. People Tree Wellness — my acupuncture and therapeutic yoga practice — is my way of sharing these invaluable gifts with others.
The «pipal tree» (pronounced «pee-pul») is the name of the tree under which the Buddha is said to have attained enlightenment (also known as the «bodhi» tree or «sacred fig» tree). Hence, the inspiration for the name of my practice — «People Tree Wellness.»

Business Owner
Mona Chopra, M.A., M.S., is a New York state licensed and NCCAOM nationally board certified acupuncturist. Mona is also a yoga instructor, and focuses on therapeutic and meditative applications of yoga.
Mona has been immersed in the field of mind-body medicine for over a decade. She was inspired to delve fully into the study of acupuncture when she received treatments herself, for a condition which a neurosurgeon had recommended surgery. Through acupuncture, therapeutic bodywork, yoga and meditation, Mona was able to heal herself and avoid surgery. She was so inspired by the potency of these treatments, she left her career as a high school social studies teacher and delved fully into the study of holistic medicine.
Mona has studied with several exceptional and wise teachers (and their students) who are masters in their respective fields, including Dr. Jeffrey Yuen (master of Chinese Medicine, Daoist priest) and TKV Desikachar (master of yoga), among others.
