We had an excellent experience when moving from NJ to NY with Moishes. Jose Luis and his team went above and beyond packing and moving us. We would recommend them for sure!!!

I’ve used Moishe 2x by now. They offer a very competitive rate on moving which I love. Also, last time a TV of mine broke during the move, perhaps due to the bumpy roads in NYC. Franz manolo from Moishe was very helpful in resolving the issue. Did I receive the value of the TV? No, but it was a fair resolution. I’ll make sure I use them again in the future. THE WORST MOVING COMPANY. They moved our things from one apartment to another in NYC and were the worst packers I’ve ever come into contact with. They didn’t take any time to organize how they packed my things just threw everything in one area into a box, no matter how delicate items were. Found cashmere sweaters thrown in bottoms of boxes, jewelry tangled in books and office goods. They also dragged boxes and furniture across our brand new hardwood floors that are now not able to be replaced. DO NOT use this moving company. I wish I could give them 0 stars

I moved earlier in October and was a bit nervous to use movers but knew there was absolutely no way I could lug all of my stuff up the five flights of stairs to my new apt. I am very happy I went with Moishe’s. Not only was their rate about $ 500 cheaper than the other companies I called, but they also let me know that if I had flexibility with my move date I could save more by moving in a day earlier. Setting up the move was easy, the truck showed up exactly when they said they would and the final cost was a bit cheaper then they had originally quoted as it didn’t take the full four hours that they had estimated. The guys wrapped all of my furniture, and lugged it up the five flights of stairs with no complaints. I am really happy with my first experience with Moishe’s and would recommend them and use them again myself.

Moishes was over an hour and a half late. They didn’t know how to get to Astoria. When I called the number, the receptionist told me «drivers get lost» and «I should be happy with the rate.»
The driver kept driving around in circles. I called back the receptionist and she just hung up on me. We were unable to let the cable guy or the furniture movers into our new place because Moishes was so late.
Their customer service woman was terrible and very rude. I would not use them again.

Did Moishe’s Close??? I have called all day and tried every different variation in the per-​recorded answering machine. Have not reached a single live person. Customer service? downright awful. Ironic because for the past 7 days one of their reps had been obsessively calling (in a span of 7 days I received over 27 calls!!!) regarding a separate move… and now? ghost town.
Best of luck using this company. I’ve already filed a complaint with the BBB and alerted by credit card to refuse any charges by them.

Moishe’s immediately followed up with a price quote and contract, so I thought their service was top-​notch. Boy, was I wrong. They showed up not only not on time, but didn’t call to let me know about delays and the movers themselves got the call regarding my move 3 hours AFTER my scheduled time. So I took the day off work only to be packed and moved into the small hours of the night. My NYC apartment took them 5 hours to move on top of packing on top of extras, I ended up leaving some of my stuff in the apt just to get them to load a truck and get out. Plus they more than doubled the original quote from the contract we signed originally.
After less than a month in storage, there were several things that either didn’t make the truck, didn’t make the storage space, or stayed on the truck. I would never hire this company again.

Not sure what is up with the bad reviews but I had nothing but a great experience from the beginning. I needed my things picked up and put into storage right before the Labor Day weekend. Cris was great, he was able to schedule on the day I needed and the timing was perfect. Not only did the truck/​movers arrive at the beginning of my window but they had everything loaded up and out of my apartment in about 30 minutes.
Once my things arrived at the storage facility in LIC I got a friendly phone call letting me know that once they got everything there they found that it would fit into a smaller unit saving me $ 50/​month.
I will have an update once I pull everything out of storage!

I moved yet again and called Moishe’s right away since I had a great experience w/​them last year. This year’s movers were Andrey (very professional and nice), Bobby (so sweet) and Pioter (didn’t talk to him as much). They moved me in and out very quickly (2.5 hours total) and even put together my table for me. My roommate used a different moving company and as she explained the process, it sounded horrific. I told her she should have used Moishe’s.
Also s/​o to Cris C. who helped me coordinate the move! Awesome guy.

Although their flat rate for my move from NYC to So. NJ was fair enough, and they were on time and courteous, the packing job they did was atrocious.
They were moving my deceased mother’s belongings from her apartment to my home, and I have been gradually opening boxes and going through them. Fragile items of obvious sentimental value (if not monetary value) were simply thrown into boxes unwrapped.
The dishes were over loaded into one large box with the serving bowls on the bottom so that the weight of everything else on top of them shattered the bowls. Any idiot could have figured out that that was going to happen! These people were either untrained or didn’t give a damn.
Nobody from the company ever phoned to check on how the move went, and I’m not a bit surprised.
I’m only sorry we tipped them as well as we did.

I don’t know why this place has so many bad reviews on Unilocal.I’ve had two storage units from them and both times it was the easiest part of my move.
They pick up for free as long as you commit to 3 months in whatever storage unit your belongings require. Fair enough. They do all the heavy lifting and disassemble basic things like bed frames. I’m sure there is a pricier version of their services that packs up too.
The first time I used them they came to pick things up from me in Washington Heights and took it all to their LIC facility. I picked some of it up a couple weeks later and the rest of it 4 months later. There was zero hassle, the checkout process was easy and I was on my way.
The second time I was leaving the county on a whim and giving up my apartment. Same thing, they came and took everything away and I picked it all up 5 months later with no issues at all. They’re always friendly on the phone and the people working at the LIC facility are very nice and helpful.
Moving is not fun and I know people get cranky and miserable really easily but this company does NOT deserve all the bad reviews it gets. They’re very easy to work with and very helpful when moving.

Bad bad bad ! We used moishes to move out 2 bedrooms apt from Nyc to Los Angeles, at first everything seemed great, prices were good guys were moving fast … Until the end when they had to start hurting. First they left couple of pieces behind and thank god our doorman saw it. When we received our stuff in La so many items were damaged and to get them to pay for any of it it’s a nightmare. Not to mention the things that were stolen such as iPad and sunglasses. I’m now in the process of opening everything and everyday is another surprise.
All I have to say is Do not use them !

The original contact: They were courteous on the phone, and I was able to make an appointment for a free in-​house estimate for a date soon.
The in-​house estimate: The man was pleasant and seemed to know what he was doing, however, he estimated that I would have 120 – 130 boxes when I only had 100. I am not sure if that would have decreased my fee by much, had he estimated more correctly since I told him I would only have about 90. As for the estimate, it was about $ 800 cheaper than Flat Rate and was a guaranteed flat rate. The estimator was a bit pushy about me signing the estimate right that second without speaking with my husband. It made me uncomfortable.
The move: The men who showed up were fairly unpleasant (but that’s probably because only the lead mover spoke English). I smiled and tried being nice and was met with annoyed faces. I am told they are not contracted out. They moved fairly quickly, and overall did a fine job. However, after telling 3 of them where the changing table and glider were supposed to go and having to correct them about this several times, the lead mover barked at me, «If you told us where it goes we wouldn’t have this problem.» Shall I mention again that I told him and 2 of his underlings exactly where these items were to go BEFORE his attitude. They also broke my shredder (since they didn’t protect it in any way), so I had to throw it out. They also broke one of my daughter’s folding chairs. I am also not sure if the strange bugs I’ve experienced near my boxes are from the moving truck…
Overall: all movers I’ve had the misfortune of using have been awful, but this move was fairly streamlined and decent despite the attitude I was given at the end. I will be using a different company to move again, though.

Between the two of us we move a lot and the crew from Moishe’s were the most professional movers we’ve ever experienced. They arrived early, were consummate professionals, excellent communicators and worked quickly with the utmost respect for our property and our time. A+ Will definitely use them in the future! We were file # 44 140!

Got a quote for a flat rate to move a 3 bedroom house. The day of the move, the guy came and said that the quote was inaccurate and we had way more stuff than he expected. Except the gentleman who gave us the quote saw exactly what we had, nothing had changed since that day. We told them they can leave then, to which he responded «okay forget it, it’s fine.» So basically, he was trying to swindle us out of more money the day of. I’m sure other people have paid this — beware, this is pretty scummy.
Then, they claim that they have another job with someone else scheduled for 3 hours after mine… I was left with a ton of stuff to move by myself because they had to leave. No one ever told me that they were only coming for 3 hours. It was definitely not enough time to move a 3 bedroom house.
The person who came to give the quote was nice… the movers were rude and nasty!!!
Also, I had one piece of furniture which I decided last minute not to take. They wouldn’t bring it outside and leave it on the curb. They stated «they do not take out the garbage.» All I did was ask them to put it on the curb instead of the truck.
Would NEVER EVER use again, don’t care if they were reasonably priced. You get what you pay for. I DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Hiring Moishe’s to move us across the country was one of the WORST decisions I’ve made in years. The sales guy gave us a «guaranteed rate» of $ 2612 to move our small 2 bedroom apt to LA. Another company quoted us $ 50 more and since we had a good experience with Moishe’s in the past we hired Moishe’s for this move.
We then donated about 10 boxes of stuff and our outdoor furniture so we hoped they may give us a discount off of that rate. On the day of the move the 2 guys (not 3 as the contract says) showed up 1 hour late. The main guy walked around and said, «too much, too much stuff.» This all made me uncomfortable so I called Moishe’s and spoke to Boaz who said that his guys can leave if we aren’t happy. I told him we trusted his company to move us competently that day and we are flying to LA the next day. Clearly they had hired incompetent movers with little to no experience to move us and no one there could care less about doing a good job.
The move lasted from 9 AM — 6:30 PM and then the main guy said it would be an additional $ 900 on top of the $ 2612 in the contract. I freaked and spoke to Boaz again who said he’ll get back to me with the actual number the next day. I called repeatedly and he said no, it will be an additional $ 1300 on top of the $ 2612. I explained that we had LESS stuff than when the sales guy was there and this was CRAZY!!! I continued to call Moishes every day and spoke with Bashkim who every day would tell me he’d have an answer about how much EXTRA we had to pay and when our stuff would arrive the next day.
Days passed and eventually Bashkim said our stuff would be delivered AFTER the guaranteed date. A few days before the last day of the guaranteed date my husband called and Bashkim told him the name of the company who would be delivering our stuff. He then spoke to the west coast moving company and they gave us a date which was the last day of the guaranteed time frame. However since so much time had passed we weren’t able to get a permit for the huge truck which moved our stuff across the country so we had to pay an EXTRA $ 500 to transfer our stuff to a smaller truck. In addition to that extra $ 500 my husband was able to get them to «ONLY» charge us an extra $ 500 for the shoddy packing job which resulted in more boxes that the sales guy expected. In the end the total was $ 3612, an extra $ 1000 due to their greed, incompetent movers and overall horrific work.
BUT, the worst part about the whole stressful move is that everything they shipped stinks of MILDEW!!! I’ve washed literally everything possible but will unfortunately have to throw out our new couch which is such a shame because I loved it.
Overall, this was the MOST STRESSFUL company I’ve dealt with in a long time and they really couldn’t care less about keeping customers happy. DO NOT HIRE THEM UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!!!

We moved from NYC to Austin with Moishe’s. I would not recommend using them.
While the people involved were very nice, our property was treated sloppily and many items were lost or broken. To take one example out of many: in preparation for the loading in NY I disassembled my wife’s custom-​made wooden bed and pointed it out to the movers as a delicate, expensive item. Theire response was, verbatim, ‘I don’t know how that won’t get broken’, to which I replied with concern, ‘Well, just be careful with it and wrap it’. Sure enough it arrived broken.
My father was a mover and I helped him on many a job. I know that it’s possible to be careful and not break things. The attitude at Moishe’s seems to be: «it’s ok to smash 10% of the things as long as you’re quick about it.»
Other issues:
* Loaded items recklessly — many boxes flipped upside down, I cringed as they slammed boxes while loading.
* Broke 2 dressers, a bed, and my drafting table.
* Lost two boxes of kitchen items. Including two sets of knives, our silverware, etc. How does that even happen?

Fairly priced and very fast. Fast like a machine!
But maybe too fast, at the expense of being careful. One guy wrapped up a chest very fast with blankets to protect it, which was great, but then he flipped it on its side and I cringed when I heard everything inside slide to one end. During the move, they also flipped some boxes completely over so that what WAS the top was now the bottom and some things were damaged. Maybe write THIS END UP on all your boxes and you’ll have better luck.

I used this moving company in July 2014 for a move from northern NJ to Manhattan. It was one of the smoothest moves I have done, and I really hate moving. Kat, my moving assistant from Moishe’s, was very helpful throughout the process and obtained the required insurance paperwork in a timely manner. The movers were efficient and professional, and nothing was damaged.
I would use Moishe’s again!

I’ve used Moishes a bunch over way too many NYC moves. Jim W. always helps me book the best setup and remembers me when I call/​email. Of the probably 8 times I’ve used them, I’ve had a few problems (was double-​billed once, had movers show up very late once) but they were always fixed as soon as I brought them up to Jim. The fact that I’ve used them so often is a testament in itself I would think.
The best thing about Moishe’s service is that they have a turnkey storage option, so you can have movers take your stuff away, load it into a storage unit, and lock the door. When you want your stuff back, you call and they reverse the process. It’s amazing, and very reasonably priced. I’ve used that service twice when new leases didn’t come through at the last minute and I had to crash on a friend’s couch while I found a new place.
I’ve moved with them so much that I’ve had widely varying experiences with the actual *movers* that did the physical labor. In general they’ve all been good, some just better than others. One even gave me a ride to the storage unit when things got screwed up by dispatching, that was really nice of him and above and beyond for sure.
Very happy overall and have referred many friends to them over the years. Ask for Jim!
