Modell’s Sporting Goods

I was pretty happy with the service I received from the sneaker sales rep who helped me out. He encouraged me to jump around and do some of the regular moves I do at the gym. He even helped me search for a sneaker with a high supporting arch that felt good to me… I have this issue everywhere I go… I’ll come here again when I need another sneaker.

I came in here yesterday looking for some comfortable t-​shirts. There was some on sale for $ 5. They also had some Champion t-​shirts on sale.
I picked up one in a navy blue in a size I wanted.
When I was at the cashier, the cashier asked me if I was a rewards member. I said no. I was asked if I wanted to be one. I said sure. She gave me the form to fill out and my card, then she rung up my sale.

This is the store with the slowest cashiers ever. I am not coming back to this location.

Some reps are rude. Store opens like 20 minutes after advertised time. Cashiers are extremely slow. Worst modell’s I’ve ever been to.

This location is the worst !! The workers are very unprofessional ! There was. Cashier a Spanish chick, looks like she be stealing from the register was very nasty !! Then the crackhead had the nerve to ask me did I want a rewards card !! That’s why I take my business to the white neighborhoods where they treat you like a guest no just a customer !!

The customer service was decent. The prices seemed reasonable. The layout of the store was pretty easy to follow. I came, I conquered, my son finally got the basketball shooting sleeve that he needed.

Models is an all-​purpose sports store where you can usually get what you need for working out or playing sports casually.
I look for four things in a sporting goods/​department store: Selection, Price, Service, and Ease of Shopping.
Selection (4 stars): A pretty wide selection. Has most things I as an amateur athlete and someone trying to get in shape would need including under armor, clothing, equipment, etc. Occasionally missing things one would want
Price (2.5 stars): Now I know it’s New York, but the prices do seem a bit high. Especially when I tried to buy some thermal gear (aka underamor) I really felt like they were trying to rip me off. It’s not outrageous, but be prepared to spend more than you would like
Service (2 stars): It can be hard to track down someone to help you if you can’t find something or need a changing room. Also, they sometimes take Way TOO long to check you out. Some people in the store are helpful, but they are the exception
Ease of Shopping (3 stars): This store is laid out in a generally easy to understand manner and typically you can find what you want. There are not enough changing rooms imo. Also, the time it takes to check out can be frustrating.

This service that I received at Modells is one of the prime reasons why i prefer to shop online!
I felt like I had to hound an employee just to figure out where the few things were that I had come here for. Every time I asked her a question i was given an attitude as if I was interrupting her from something more than just standing around.
The fitting rooms, if that is what you will call them are atrocious. When the staff opened the door an odor of urine and funk. I’m still confused on why the fitting room is missing a mirror!!! The floor as filthy and I even saw rodent droppings. The whole time I was trying on the clothes, I was more concerned with making sure my personal belongings didn’t touch the ground than how the clothes fit on me.
I will only come here if its another last minute mission and I’m absolutely sure that they have what I need.

Come here if you want bad service and attitude from employees that don’t realize 1. they actually have to work to earn their paycheck and 2. that being in a customer service industry means you actually have to help the customer. The staff here stand around, talk to their friends, and then are annoyed when you ask a question. Thank you but no thank you.

As many times as I passed this Modell’s on 125^th, I never even knew it was there. After a quick Google search, I was glad to see one so close to my place!
This is seriously one of the nicest Modell’s I’ve ever been to. Very new, modern and clean. Great selection of products and SUPER SUPER staff. The guy that was helping me find a knee brace for my ACL of a mess was more than adequately friendly and helpful.
I did lose my iPod in here though, it was never recovered. Waaaaah! *Snookie voice*
