miss KOREA began with our CEO Sophia Lee’s nostalgia for amazing Korean food and hospitality, and the ambition to share this with people from all over the world who visit New York City.
Since we first opened, we have expanded and grown to now be able to introduce many aspects of Korean culture to our guests including Korean royal court cuisine and traditional Doljanchi celebrations.

Business Owner
Sophia Lee began her career in the restaurant industry after being inspired by a personal ambition to share what she loves most with the rest of the world – good food.
Having moved to New York City from Korea, she missed great Korean food and was motivated to re-create the delicious memories that often made her nostalgic about home.
miss KOREA BBQ is not only a place for those who ‘miss Korea,’ but also a place that represents Korea’s culture and beauty, deserving of the title ‘Miss Korea.’
