Great rehearsal spaces. I’ve rehearsed in almost every room. Friendly service as well for the most part!

Great people, nice rooms and equipment and good prices. I’ve done most of my rehearsals there and continue to enjoy the vibe.

I had a good three-​hour rehearsal here. Really liked the room itself. Comfortable, spacious enough, really liked the elevated «stage» area, didn’t get bleed from other rooms. Can keep crowded if you’re trying to be in the hallway/​main area when you’re not rehearsing. But really solid space.

Great value when u r practicing, piano, in particular. The rooms varies as do the prices. I love the proximity to work, which allows me to practice during lunch hours. Getting busy the you have to book ahead these days, and they need 24 hour advance notice to cancel. Nothing fancy, which I am happy as it keeps the price down.

Joined another artist for a one-​hour reservation. Immediately turned off by the out-​of-​tune piano. Notified the clerk and was told that they’re tuned regularly, and that the vendor had been there today, but that particular piano was not scheduled to be tuned for another week.
Full disclosure: I am a serious-​minded, pretty skilled pianist, and tuning is a priority for me. Out of tune pianos are not a «pet peeve» of mine, they are the bane of music.
Quality pianos do not lose their tune this badly unless it has been a long time since tuning, or the environmental conditions (temperature, humidity) are poor. Inferior pianos go out of tune easily, are more trouble than they are worth, and should be gotten rid of in all haste by rehearsal vendors.
I would hope the clerk has notified management and the vendor called in immediately, but am doubtful, based on his nonchalant attitude, that this level of attention is the norm. I may as well have told the cat.
The room lighting was very poor. One recessed ceiling light in the small room (F) was extremely dim, with very little light cast on the piano stand (which, by the way, was in disrepair and slipping around). We were told that it takes time for that light to increase in luminescence. Unacceptable.
The room was also just a bit small, but, except for the unacceptable instrument and light, acceptable for our purposes with respect to size.
Positive aspects: Pleasant entrance area, only one set of stairs to climb, good location, easy-​to-​remember name for the purposes of avoiding it in the future (Me-​Cheap-​O).
I was going to ask the clerk to add me to the mailing list, but I decided not to bother.
I am not overly negative with reviews, and always try to be fair (my 2 stars is an act of charity). I wouldn’t want Michiko to suffer loss of reputation based on one bad review, but this review needed to be posted and I have stated my experience as factually as I can.

In my experience, the staff has always been friendly and accommodating. I’m a vocalist, and if you’re a solo musician, you can rent one of their little C Studios for $ 5 for half an hour to warm up. These are walk-​in, always open, and pretty tiny — about 3×4 — but very affordable. They also have gift cards where you can purchase 10 hourly rooms for 10% off.

This is close to a perfect rehearsal studio for me! Where else am I going to be able to rent a room with a vibraphone, xylophone, and a piano for an affordable rate? The only other thing that I wish they had, (but is totally unreasonable for me to wish for) is a marimba.
Making an appointment is easy. The instruments are in great condition. What more can you really ask for in a rehearsal space?

This studio is a nicely located. Very accessible to many public transport. I use the studio there a lot. Their management has improved a lot. Pianos are quite new, very friendly staffs. Highly recommended to professional musicians

From my experience, one of the best rehearsal studios in NY and for jazz/​acoustic instruments, possibly THE best. Why not 5 stars? I’ve been a customer of Michiko for many years. I understand completely that times have change – that the 1% of NYC’s wealthiest, the landowners, and landlords, have squeezed the 99% w/​nearly impossible rents; the arts, and artists, have been punished by this for wanting to keep Manhattan a creative center of the world. At issue here is: some of the staff here could lighten up with their attitudes just a little bit.
As mentioned I understand it’s no longer the 80s or even the 90s, when rules could be a little lax and a reasonable cancellation won’t be charged. They HAVE to have a strict policy w/​cancellations, holding your credit card #, etc in order to survive. I’m saying a little friendliness and positive attitude can go a long way and I’d love to see that at Michiko. As stated, this does not apply to all staff. Beyond this, GREAT place and I’ll continue to be a customer.

I came across this studio on a directory of rehearsal studios in the city, so I decided to give it a try. I used one of the small rooms with a piano in it, and the piano was in good condition and in tune. It’s a clean rehearsal studio with very reasonable prices. While the rooms aren’t really sound-​proofed, you won’t get deafened by the people playing in other rooms, since this place is geared towards classical, jazz, and broadway musicians.
The studio doors have windows to the hallway where people can see in. It didn’t bother me, but if privacy is a big concern you may want to look elsewhere. Also, if you are a loud rock band, this is not the rehearsal studio for you.

The cheapest music rehearsal space in new york city. For $ 11/​hour you can rent a room, big enough for you, your instrument and a piano (if need be), and work out that tune that you need to, without blowing your roommate’s ear off!
Located in Roberto’s Woodwinds Store, and the heart of the theater district, it’s a great place to practice.
They accept credit cards, have bathrooms, PA systems!
