Metropolitan Pavilion

I’ve been here to attend a number of events over the years. Mainly the Chocolate Show and the NYC Veg Food Festival.
The space is huge, and super nice. The staff has been friendly and informative. They do a great job bringing quality fun events to the city. If you’re in need of an event space, I would highly recommend them.
My reason for rating them 4 stars and not 5, is because of crowd control. Every event I go to, seems more congested than the last time. Something has to be done about the number of people allowed to attend an event. The last time I was there, to get to the second floor booths, security had people going in 10 at a time with a bit of a wait. I understand why, but it’s not enjoyable as an attendee. There were complaints. Between people going up the stairs and people coming down the stairs, it was far too packed.
It’s to the point that it affects the experience. I’ve seen people leave because of it. I’ve had friends decide not to attend an event because «they rather not deal with the crowds». The events are getting more expensive $ 20-​$ 40. For that amount of money, either cap the tickets or extend the amount of days.

So far I have been here twice for the Winebow event, once last year And again this year. Both times were absolutely great!
The biggest issue one should have with this place is the parking, such a pain, nearly impossible to find a spot on your own, but luckily there are over priced parking garages in the area!!! Yeay! For the record, this is the reason why I gave four stars as opposed to five.
But anyways, back to the MP…
Very large venue that is able to fit tonsssss of tables inside. Plenty of space for the vendors to spread out.
Space can be use for elegant and casual events.
Well lit inside.
Very spacious, even when it is crowded.
Bathrooms are always spotless
Staff extremely professional.

Great space for a large event, like the annual win portfolio tasting. Clean, neat, good secutiy and clean restrooms.

I came here for the 6^th Annual Latke Festival and it ended up being an incredible event, with the venue working out perfectly, as far as spacing and being an all around fun situation, were concerned. I came in expecting only to eat latke (having barely any clue as to what it was) and discovered that latke is amazing, it involved numerous open bars, and I won a $ 360 massage. Holy cow, my friend and I had a whole lot of fun, not to mention that we had won tickets to be in attendance, in the first place! I’m definitely looking forward to hearing about more events here.

This is a great event space. Roomy and well lit.

This venue is a huge space for sample sales. Well lit, tall ceilings, plenty of areas to showcase goods.
I’ve been coming here for the Barney’s and Ralph Lauren Home sales.
There are plenty of help on the floor and a lot of registers that help the line going.
The staff seems organized. I recognize staff from Souffer Haskin at the Ralph Lauren Home sale. All sales are final for sample sales. Carefully examine all products for defects.
Take advantage of these sales by getting on the mailing list.

I came here for the Winter Pop Flea Menwear event. I enjoyed the large open space and it suited the event well. There were a lot vendors and attendees but the space never felt overwhelmingly crowded. They had a space in the front specifically for checking in coats however there wasn’t any staff checking them in. This was probably the event coordinator’s decision and not the venue itself. But if you are looking for a large space to hold your event, I would recommend checking out the Metropolitan Pavilion.

I came here with a friend for the Manhattan Vintage Clothing Sale. It was nothing less than spectacular. My jaw was on the floor the whole time. The clothing was beautiful and the layout made it easy to maneuver. So memorable… sigh.

There’s no page for Metropolitan Pavilion West, so I’ll post my comment over here! My company was a sponsor of the Ingenuity Conference which was held at the W. 46^th St location. I helped arrange it, and the Metropolitan staff were very helpful and professional throughout the process. They were accommodating when we wanted to go see the space to plan where things would be placed. The actual space is ginormous. There are these super thick columns placed throughout the two floors, which, in my opinion, ruin the aesthetics, but otherwise, it’s a beautiful place. I can see how versatile it would be for all kinds of events. There are two floors; the second floor doesn’t have windows, which was a bummer. There was also no coat check. A big plus was the full cell phone service throughout the venue, even in the elevator. We had about 400 people attend. In any case, I do hope the conference will be held here again next year!

Entrance: The counter is hidden behind a column. Not sure if this is a load bearing column. But if it is not, It would have been better if the column did not block the counter.
We were constantly being asked if the art show was being held at the Metropolitan Pavilion. They need to identify their spaces to reduce confusion. Or, let guests know which entrance to use. I was not sure if this was an issue with visitors or the event hosting the art show or Metropolitan’s.
The space was more than enough for our event.
They have staff helping with trash detail and other stuff.
They have three parking spots for vendors’ truck with a ramp that goes to the street.
We were able to help our vendors unload using the ramp.
The space was nicely transformed for our event.
Overall, it was a decent place. I cannot review the management nor contract stuff since I was not involved in those aspects.

My brother gets invited to many food expos and I usually like tagging along with him. One of our favorites is the annual Japanese Food and Restaurant Expo at the Metropolitan Pavilion and we always look forward to it every year. It’s the largest showcase of Japanese food, sake, and specialty supplies. The venue itself is spacious and were able to accommodate many wholesalers advertising different cuts of fresh raw seafood, ramen, desserts, Japanese sauces and equipments, and alcoholic/​non-​alcoholic beverages. High quality samples were provided they have lots of information sessions regarding their products. We’ll be back next year!

If you’ve been invited to an event (expo, fashion show, art gala, etc) don’t be frightened. The Metropolitan Pavillion is actually a great space to have an event in. For the last x-​amount of years I’ve been here x-​amount of time for so many different events (bridal expo, lighting expo, fundraising party). The space is large, the ceiling high, the wood floors spectacular (someone is doing a great job at buffin’ those), the bathrooms are always clean! No matter the occasion the staff has always been accommodating and the building is pretty easy to get to (close to union square + the ²⁄₃ lines.)

Went here for a wedding. It was on the 5^th floor. This review is written with the assumption that the catering and bar is all done in-​house (employed by and prepared by The Pavilion).
Wait service during the cocktail hour and actual sit-​down meal was great. Food was creatively prepared and quite delicious (though I have to say some of the hors d’oeuvres bordered a bit on ‘trying a bit too hard to look creative’ (i.e., turkey meatball ‘lollipops’…that kind of thing…)
As far as execution of the timing of wedding ceremony in one room, and flow of guests to cocktail hour room, and then on to the formal seated meal, it all was well orchestrated (though since the wedding party had hired their own private event organizer to be on-​site at the event to ensure all details ran smoothly, it’s really hard to say how well the Pavilion staff would have managed this on their own… without another event organizer on-​site to oversee everything…)
I liked very much that for the formal seated meal and dancing area, that they had set up a casual ‘lounge’ area complete with couches, pillows and tree plants overlooking the dance floor. Very cool!
The only negative would be that the particular space we were in on the 5^th floor… there were a number of support beams which, depending on where you were seated, greatly blocked your view of other parts of the room (i.e., the dance floor).

What a fantastic venue
The staff was better then A plus… The location amazing. I rented out this venue for a small family gathering and it was wonderful.
Coming from Berlin I needed something that could accommodate myself and family rather easily from JFK and this was the perfect place to do it.

Came here for an art exhibit and it’s an absolutely ideal space. I usually wouldn’t review something other than food, but it is worthy. Big white, bright space with what seemed like hundreds of vendors and artwork all around. Enough space for MANY viewers.

Came here for a Wedding Salon event with my girlfriends. The check-​in process was pretty quick despite the line starting around the block. The event space itself was humongous and allowed tons of vendors to set up their booths without being on top of each other.
The creepy staircase exit was weird, but all else was well.

Metropolitan Pavilion is a gorgeous event space with multiple floors, lots of creative possibilities, excellently taken-​care-​of wood flooring, lots of white space, columns and tons of open space which makes events here a pleasure to attend and most likely very easy for users to execute whatever event they are envisioning.
This space is totally suited for a corporate event that required polish and boring aesthetics, an awesome raging dance party/​live show which requires snazzy lighting and a cool museum meets abandoned warehouse feel or something right in between.
I’ve been here for two different events. One was a Guinness Tasting which was flawlessly executed. Tons of free Guinness, regular and imported seasonals? Check. Free cheese, grapes, pretzels and peanuts? Lots o’ checks! A «learn how to do a perfect Guinness pour» station? Nope — there were actually TWO of these. Awesomepants.
The other event I attended here (which was last night) was a start-​up career fair… but it wasn’t your average collegiate-​type shin dig, it was like the Coachella/​Woodstock/​Burning Man/​Mardi Gras of career fairs. Indoor skate park? Check. Puppies, champagne, cupcakes? Check. Photo booths, tons of free swag, central biergarten, warm freshly baked cookies, live canvas/​oils art installations, bar, corn hole, free food? Multiple checkmarks here kids!
Obviously Metropolitan Pavilion is whatever the event planner/​sponsoring company (ies) make of it, but it’s a gorgeous space in a decent location that is in proximity to lots of transportation options (1, F, M, C, E and loads of buses like the M20, M4, M5, M6, M14, M23 and probably a few others) and I’m giving them 5 stars for always providing me with a fantastic experience whenever I’ve had the joy of attending events hosted here.

Ah yes, after months of training through the cold dark winter, the time had finally come to pick up my NYC Half Marathon race bib and drop some $$$ on race gear like there’s more where that came from.
Having only experienced a NYC race expo at the Javit’s center for the marathon, I was a little wary that this would be a mad house in such a smaller space. I was wrong. The whole layout worked perfectly, and every typical vendor had their set up. The flow of traffic was excellent from guidance upon entry, through packet pick up, and straight through to merch. Not once did it get bottlenecked or overly crowded.
In no time at all, I had what I came for and left super excited for the 13.1 miles ahead!

Recent visit was to work as a vendor for the Wedding Salon, a bridal trade show. Dimly lit space but sets an intimate atmosphere that is very accessible near Union Square. Working for four hours in hopes of attaining potential clients I did not feel crowded nor crammed at our booth. This event serves alcohol throughout the evening’s running time and security do NOT check attendees’ identification in accord with NYS law of 21+. Tsk, tsk! Facilities are readily available and moderately clean. Coat checks are available to both vendors and guests.

I came here for an evening press event. It was a really nice, wide open space. I could tell the space was very versatile. This particular set up allowed for a large bar area, several display shelves/​stands and a large lounge area. I never felt crowded or uncomfortable.
The staff was on point. From coat check to the bar to the servers prowling the floor, everything went smooth as silk. The space has a nice modern «warehouse» feel with large exposed columns, white coloring with wood floors. Lighting can be adjusted to be very bright or nice and dim for «mood lighting».
This is definitely a cool event space in a convenient location in Manhattan.
