I’ve had this place once before and the second time was even better by far my favorite new chain. Keep it up. Yummmmmmmmy. Ooooh had the fried chicken with fully loaded tots. The flavor is just spectacular

Awesome grilled cheese sandwich and equally tasty tots. This is definitely a five start grilled cheese joint.

Having the need to kill about 2 hours of wait time for a screening, we knew a snack was needed beforehand. What better place to eat at when its 10 degrees outside? The Melt Shop! The place where Grilled cheese is served best on a cold NYC day, least in midtown. From its simple seating area to the grab-n-go menu. I was ready to chow down. Literally took me all of 1 min to figure out my entire meal. Starving did help expedite the process. My go to choice is always anything with bacon on, in or made with! So I opted for the Maple Bacon sandwich! Nothing short of tasty. From the perfectly grilled bread. Wonderful blend of aged cheddar, brick spread and delicious maple glazed bacon. The combination that«melts» well together. Yes it was corny but it’s a testament to why this place is called The Melt Shop.(See attached photo of said sandwich) I thought I found bliss. Coupled with the tomato soup and that’s all I needed. I also did order the loaded Tater tots. But honestly was disappointed which is what kept me from giving 5 stars. The cheese sauce was underwhelming, truly not needed. Just felt off. The bacon was over cooked. I get the idea for bacon pieces but the burnt taste just kind of killed the vibe. There pieces of jalapeños that made me question what I just ordered. Was starting to feel like I ordered nachos versus potatoes. The grated Parmesan was a great touch though. My friend got a regular order and just that topping alone would’ve made my meal perfect. The Strawberry lemonade, super fresh, perfectly sweetened(with sugar cane) and the bottle was 2 servings at 12g of sugar each serving which made me super happy. Staff was super friendly and service was quick. Can’t wait to come again and give a few other options on the menu a try.

A very nice sandwich shop that is really cute on the surface, but the food really packs a punch in terms of taste. The food was amazing. I was at first skeptical about getting chicken because it’s generally very dry and plain, but the chicken club melt was super delicious. The serving size was perfect for a meal, not too much, and not too little that you need another one. Overall, very solid food, very nice service, and very good ambiance.

I’d probably round this review to 3.5 stars. Wanted to try a new spot for lunch around midtown — why not a place that has items covered in cheese? Haha, sadly, what I assumed was reality. After a few bites, I quickly grew tired of it and everything felt overly heavy. I didn’t even finish my meal :(It’s also overpriced. Lots of seating in the restaurant — you can grab a seat after they give you one of those buzzers for when your food is ready. Be careful of where you sit if you’re going during the winter — the wind stopper doesn’t really work all that well, aka everytime someone opens the door, the wind stopper door stays open for about 10 seconds(I ate my entire meal with my coat on). For $ 16, I got a truffle melt, cheesy tater tots, and a tomato soup. The truffle melt basically only had cheese, truffle oil, and arugula. I probably could have done with wayyyyy more arugula to cut all the fattyness. Maybe I should get a protein next time? The melts with only cheeses guarantees that it becomes very heavy and boring. I have to say though, the bread was nice and crispy. Tater tots were good, nothing special though! I actually wished the cheese drizzled over it was like the cheap kind you get at movie theaters over nachos that’s slightly runny… the one that they use kind of dries over the tater tots immediately and turns into this weird consistency. Tomato soup was A+; semi-chunky and has a little kick. Good as a dip for your sandwich if it starts to feel a little too oily! ***I don’t think they offer this right now, but I’d probably be more inclined to come back if they had half sandwich + soup combos!!! One whole sandwich is WAY too heavy(sorry for using the word heavy 100000x in this post… there’s really no other word for how I felt haha).

I was in the area and looking for a fast lunch. Melt had gotten strong reviews on Unilocal,so I gave it a try. I’m happy with my choice, though I think 4 stars is a little strong(my 3 stars probably a little low — I give a 3.5 stars). I had a grilled cheese and tater tots. Both were good. But they are also pretty standard for what you can do in your house. There was nothing special about them. It was A-Ok, worth eating at, but not a destination. It was good fast-food(which makes it better than a lot of the options).

I’ve been to NYC2 times and Melt Shop has found me both times — it’s a destination now! Sadly, I fell in love with the loaded tots and tomato soup. I haven’t even tried a sandwich. I saw a hand spun shake at another table and it looked great. I want to eat a sandwich. But tots and soup have my heart. (Now can we please get a Melt Shop in Rochester, NY???)

I LOVE the Melt Shop! The gluten-free option is a bonus for a mom who needs to get something quick for her grilled cheese-lovin’-kid. Please open one up near Hudson Yards(more west). Food is fresh, delicious and makes you feel comfy. Recommendations: The Classic, Maple Bacon and Ship Tots. If you have room, get the Nutella Shake. Yummmmm!!! This particular location is super-friendly.

It was super salty! It would be good with beer which they do serve at the restaurant. Walked past here on a Saturday decided to get a snack. Got the classic and it was around 10 min wait. They do give you a buzzer which is nice and they gave us cups for water while waiting even tho we opted for take out. The restaurant is nice with a yellow accent colour. They have benches as seating.

I have been to 3 Melt Shop locations, but this one is my favorite. The food is excellent and consistent at every location, and so is the customer service. They do a great job of hiring staff. This location edges out of the others, because of décor and a little extra friendliness. It was also the least crowded. A chain based on grilled cheese is a dream come true. The variety of sauces, including hot sauce; is the icing on the cake.

We had grilled cheese sandwiches delivered to the office and it was so so yum. Not a big fan of the salad but who wants to fill their stomach with yucky greens when you could fill it with a greasy grilled cheese sandwich with maple bacon? Yum.

The tater tots are one of my secret shames. Actually they really are just a vehicle for the goodness of their melted cheese. Perfect for lunch, Melt Shop hustles their orders along despite the scary line. The one time it took over 20 minutes, the employees profusely apologized and gave me a coupon for a free sandwich. Things happen, but Melt Shop handled it perfectly. Bravo Melt Shop. I will be here over and over and over. P. S. Their fried chicken? OUTOFTHISWORLD.

Oh gosh, Melt Shop just makes me melt. The line usually isn’t super long and neither is the wait for your sandwich. The way it works is you line up(don’t get confused between the people waiting for their ‘wich and the people actually lining up). Then, order your sandwich — to be honest they’re all probably delish, I went with the chicken club just to be safe and it was much more than safe. I think they also have beer too — which is great if you can find a seat on the disturbingly yellow picnic benches(unfortunately the color of the place nearly gave me a migraine, but I really like the food) which are packed during lunchtime. Then, you get a buzzer and you wait. It’s kind of like Shake Shack — a $ 10 sandwich, quite expensive, but quite worth it. Then it buzzes and you happily take the sandwich back to work, hoping that nobody sees you struggling to eat the huge sandwich you didn’t expect to be that large. Or buttery. Or cheesy. Or delicious. Dang. If you like chicken breast, aka just a big helping of chicken breast, Melt Shop will give you the bang for your buck with the chicken club. There’s a good amount of arugula, fresh tomato, and grilled, practically fried mozzarella cheese in there. The breast is so crunchy, it almost scratches the roof of your mouth when you bite into it and so buttery, you’re going to need lots of napkins.

The theater district did a collective happy dance when Melt Shop arrived in the area. Oh wait, that was just me? Well anyway… Their grilled cheese goodness is always perfectly toasted and perfectly satisfying for a next-level lunch break. And the tots are killer. Go check them out. And then let me know if you did the happy dance.

I’m at The Melt Shop at least once every week for lunch. Once the craving for grilled cheese hits, this is the place to go. There’s about 10 different varieties of grilled cheese you can pick from. My favorites: the Wisco(Sharp Cheddar, Brick Spread, Bacon & Sliced Tomato on White) or the Chicken Club(Grilled Chicken, Mozzarella, Bacon, Sliced Tomatoes, Arugula & Sherry Vinaigrette on Sourdough Toast). Don’t forget the Shop Tots(doused with parmesan on top) on the side! Trust me. You won’t regret it. So glad I made The Melt Shop into one of my regular lunch spots.

Tater Tots! Must get when you go to a melt shop! I came here during lunch hours and it wasn’t as crowded as I expected it to be. The line moves really quick, but the wait for food can take a little longer. There are reasonable seating available. Two big tables and about five/six small tables. Keep in mind that a lot of people get take out for lunch so there are good amount of seats for people that wants to dine in. I ordered the chicken club sandwich & my friend ordered the fried chicken sandwich. My slice of chicken in my sandwich was so thin that it might as well not be there. There was a lot of dressing and the bread was nicely grilled which made the sandwich a bit better. I must say… the fried chicken sandwich is SOMUCHBETTER. The chicken was so juicy and good! I was so full already, yet I had to finish the half I had because it was just too good to go to waste. Next time I come back, I’m going to get the fried chicken sandwich: D

It’s not easy being cheesy. Melt shop does a fine job of selling comfort food. grilled cheese, paninis. I like the fried chicken sandwich, and i love how they don’t skimp on the sriracha. There’s bottles of the stuff everywhere. Get some of the cheesy tots with a dusting of parmesan cheese. I’ve been to MS many times and have always left happy — except for that one time I got salad. Don’t get a salad. it sucks. it was like a couple cups of greens with barely any chicken in it. The name of the place is melt shop, not Salad shop, so I should not have ordered that.

OMG! Comfort food at its VERY best… Had a maple grilled cheese, tots, and a half and half drink. Maple grilled cheese was hot and gooey, bread was toasted to golden perfection, bacon was crispy and had a strong maple syrup flavor. Service was good, great compared to other Times Square FF places. Prices were moderate to a bit high but worth every penny. Try this place if you want good yummy food.

Came here on a Saturday afternoon and surprisingly, it was pretty empty, except for 3 other customers in the whole store. The store itself was pretty big with a clean feel. I decided to come here after seeing the monstrous sandwiches that they offered and the famous tots. I decided to go with the fried chicken sandwich with a side of lemonade and gave the tots at rest because I didn’t want to feel overly bloated at the end. The sandwich itself was pretty big. One down side to this was that it was overly oily; almost like they actually deep fried the whole sandwich.
