Food is SOOOOO flavorless. This is what we ordered: Bombay Pav Bhaji, Lamb Korma, Garlic Nan, Tandoori Chicken, Diwane-e-Handi. None of it is worth mentioning. Except the fact that tandoori chicken(med size) was pretty small for almost $ 16. Will NOT return.

Excellent food quality and service. We cater a large group order lunch through Seamless every week at our institution for almost a year now, and they have maintained high quality and service. Take feedback very well. Right place to order Indian food around the UWS, they have plenty of options too — traditional North Indian dishes, biting snacks, rolls, dosas, etc. They have an excellent lunch special as well! We love this place at our institution.

3.5 stars. The restaurant is very pact with only a few tables. We arrived during lunch hours on a Friday and the place wasn’t too busy. Although the server alleged the masala dosa requires a little more patience, the food did arrive too slow for what we ordered. The lunch special with lamb was okay, but unfortunately the naan bread came out after we finished most of the curry and so we barely finished any of them. The server seems quite professional. Compared to Shahi, which is just 2 blocks away, Masala Club probably wins in(1) they have fridges and do not simply microwave what’s in the counter(2) the cleanliness, and indeed both pros show quite apparently in different price level. Also, I would really appreciate it if they could substitute their plastic utensils. My friend and I had a good time and so the rating is probably inflated. lol.

This is a terrible business. Their food tastes fine but delivery is a nightmare and they just don’t care. The owner/manager’s attitude is «the delivery guy went outside and that’s that.» Food will never ever get to you within estimate – it will always take an hour or more. It’s just not worth it, especially since they clearly do not care about the customer at all. This review is based on multiple attempts ordering from them over the time they have been in business.

Really good pav bhaji! I have been looking for a pav bhaji place in the area and I am really happy that they have it on the menu. The staff are very nice and friendly. I will definitely come back here in the future.

I had pav bhaji and chai. It was really good and the staff were very friendly. Pav bhaji was very much like what you get in Mumbai. I would highly recommend this place!

The food at this place is really good and there is no Indian restaurant closer to Columbia, which cooks so well. We have ordered take out from them a number of times and it is a family favorite and it is inexpensive. However, I wouldn’t sit down at the restaurant even though they have a few tables. Servings in plastic plates and eating with plastic utensils is a real turn off.

Among the best places for Indian food I’ve found in the US. The food was delicious– I got the chicken achari and the lamb vindaloo with basmati rice and naan. The quantity and quality both were excellent. The server was also great! He told us which dishes might take longer to come, and pointed us to dished that would be quicker. The naan was perfect– wasn’t too oily or too dry, unlike most places in the country. I’m going to go here pretty regularly! My friend got the pav bhaji and it was great too :) pretty close to Columbia university, which is another plus. They also have lunch specials. Great value for money.

I honestly cannot explain how happy Masala Club makes me. It’s so hard to find good Indian/Pakistani food in this area that also happens to be Halal, so Masala Club is a godsend. I’ve been ordering from them for the past two years or so, ever since they were Curry Club. Everything I’ve had from the menu has been excellent. Favorites of mine so far have been the Chicken Bhuna Roll(tastes like home), Malai Chicken Tikka, and Chicken Vindaloo. Their Jhinga Masaledar is also great, as is the Chicken Achari. There are plenty of vegetarian, seafood and lamb dishes I haven’t tried yet, but so far I haven’t been disappointed. I don’t write Unilocal reviews, but for these guys I’ll make an exception. Them closing down again would be a sincere tragedy.

Being South Indian I don’t believe any Indian restaurant that doesn’t have a South Indian chef should be making dosa. The coconut chutney had no flavor. And what they called«sambar» wasn’t the right color and it tasted horrible. For the ambiance with plastic plates and forks, dal should not cost $ 12, especially for such low quality food. I had to go home and brush my teeth and use mouthwash to get that nasty flavor out. I wish there was a zero or even better a negative star option.

My girlfriend and I just ordered delivery for the first time from Masala Club. We ordered the Chicken Vindaloo, Chicken Biryani, Garlic Naan, and Navaratan Korma which is vegetables simmered in a sauce of cashew nuts. Everything was delicious. We both can say that this is the best Indian food we have had in ages. We will definitely be coming back for more.

I made a mistake and relied on Unilocal reviews to decide to order from this restaurant. I should have known better that if a place only has four reviews, I should treat it as if it had none. As background to the readers, I have eaten Indian fare in India and across the world(Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Britain, the Caribbean, Japan) and I am constantly in search of what I would describe as comfort Indian food. The dish by which I judge restaurants is their rendition of Chicken Tikka Masala, which I know is not a true indigenous Indian dish, but one made up by Indian cooks to please their British colonial intruders. Nevertheless, done well, it sates one’s needs, emotional and physical. The Masala Club does Chicken Tikka Masala adequately, which puts it on par with other UWS Indian restaurants. There might be one or maybe two that do it better, but this is more of an indictment of the sad state of affairs for Indian restaurants in this neighborhood than it is praise for Masala Club. The texture of the dish served up by Masala Club is of sufficient creaminess, and the color a decent hue of red, but it lacks the nuance of spices that can make a CTM truly shine. The Chicken Korma has chunks of pineapple in it. I do not recall, in all my travels, ever having had Korma with pineapple in it. I’d forgive this inclusion if the dish were in fact tasty, but it’s not. The Aloo Gobhi was a mush of sautéed onions that tasted like watered-down sautéed onions. The cauliflower and potatoes were lost in that sea of mush. Again, where were the Indian spices that make such a dish a delight? It’s as if the chef forgot to add any spices whatsoever. And the Palak Paneer? It looked good: chunks of paneer floating in a creamed bed of spinach. But there was no taste. Did they use lawn grass instead of spinach? It tasted like they could have. Bottom line: better to go hungry than to reward a mediocre establishment like this.

Went at around 9 pm. I ordered one paneer dosa and pav bhaji. Both was prepared fairly at a quick time. The taste was good and i would not hesitate going another time here. I would highly recommend this to anyone who visits this area.

The best Indian food at Columbia! I have studied at Columbia and have been around for 15 years and this is the finest and most honest, authentic Indian food at Columbia. Delicioso! Delicious, Mouth-watering curries, piping hot naans and breads, lovely tikkas, excellent Just let them know you love Indian food and know it and they will make it extra special :)! I have known the chef ‘Hari’ for years as he had a lovely hole in the wall cool joint up near the UN and boy did he have lines there! Give him another month or two up here and Masala Club will surely do well. I have made it crystal in my iPhone speed-dial that when it is a curry call it is going to be Masala Club nothing else. Their masala chai tea is to die for and the Chicken Chetinad Curry is out of this world. For vegetarians too, love the secret Karahi Paneer off the menu! Enjoy boys and girls, love the curry there as I am hooked! And they are the nicest peops around too man! I am stoked! Wife loves it healthy and they make it healthy too if you ask so I love it.

The chicken tikka masala and pav bhaji is legit. Very good food and a great deal as well. $ 15 for take out which comes with appetizer, entrée, rice, naan, and dessert.

This is the previous Curry Club with new management team. The old restaurant used to be my favorite and I’m so glad they kept the exactly same taste of everything I’ve tried so far. Maybe the cooks remain to be the same which is the greatest. This is the best best Indian restaurant ever and forever for me. I’ve spent about thousand dollars dining in this Curry Club or Masala Club in a year. Please don’t close for months again. Your curry brightens my life!
