I stayed in 888 8^th Ave. The location wasn’t great, and it was a bit expensive, but I knew that before moving in. The doormen were professional and for the most part friendly. The same went for the letting office. For some reason, it’s not possible to pay rent monthly online. The deposit was returned promptly after I moved out.

Very surprised to find a landlord that seems to have a conscience. Seemed to be a fair person/​group of people in all of our dealings. The execution of some things could have been a bit better, but they always seemed to be acting in good faith.

I moved into 1661 York Avenue in January of 2012. Jeff is a terrific super; he is there for you when you need him. I had a completely helpful and professional experience with the management. Brian assisted me with any emergent issues; he was always receptive to my concerns and complaints.
I am a social worker and therapist and possibly am not as annoyed by day to day problems as some people. I recommend this company to anyone seeking affordable and responsible housing.

I lived in one of their buildings for many years (888 — 8^th Ave). The building itself was fine and the staff were quite good. The problem is the building manager (Lori Siegel) and her assistant Jasmine Cuellar. I needed to assign my lease because I was moving out of the area. Although I had been an excellent tenant for eight years, they made the process incredibly difficult. They had to approve the new tenant but they dragged the process out for weeks so one by one, the prospective tenants would choose a different apartment, It became very clear (and Lori Siegel actually suggested I do this), they wanted me to forfeit my security deposit and an extra month of rent as a condition to terminate the lease. Since the rental market was on the rise, they could then re-​rent the apartment at a higher rent and pocket the termination payment. In the end I found a replacement, but he had to post 3 months of prepaid rent 4 month remaining term. I had to throw in a free month to get him to take the remaining term. All in all, they were very difficult and I would avoid them. By the way, under the NY rental laws, e landlord is required to allow you to assign or you can terminate the lease without penalty or termination payment, but you have to provide the appropriate notice. Make sure you know your rights before you deal with Lori or Jasmine.

Brian B. is rude and unprofessional on every level. He is lazy to boot. He cant be bothered to do his job and will go to great lengths to NOT have to help you. Talk to ANYONE but this guy.

Moved to 420 e 79 in January 2013. I had this mentally unstable woman living above me that would constantly drop things & stomp around her apartment morning, noon & night. I consistently addressed this issue to Lori & Jasmine and they were a pleasure to work with. They understood my situation and took all the steps possible to try and remedy the situation, up to moving me to a new unit in the same building, except this apt is on the 16^th floor. The views are spectacular and the super, maintenance guys and doormen could not be friendlier or more helpful. Couldn’t be happier with Manocherian Bros & this incredible apartment.

Great, professional landlord. The building was well-​maintained, the staff were friendly and honest. A real rarity for a Manhattan landlord.

I have been renting my apartment from Manocherian Brothers (Fameco LLC) for almost 2 years now and the experience have been pretty good. They have been ok with my occasionally late payments and representatives have been polite and helpful. It got me a little effort to have the super implement my requests (I had to call many times often), but I’m generally satisfied and would recommend them to a friend.

Lori and Jasmine have been nothing more than outstanding and helpful. We just signed another year’s lease with my son’s apartment. Lauri went above and beyond to make sure the apartment we were moving into was in perfect condition. We’re very happy with the building (we’d like to see the main carpet on the first floor replaced) but other than that we couldn’t be more pleased. Lauri has been very personal and patient with me since I’m a mom from out of town making sure the place that my son is living at is up to any mom’s standards. The super is great and we’re thrilled to keep our business with this company!

This is a big company, so maybe the others who reviewed this company (both on the same day — suspicious) dealt with other people at the company. I lived in a building of theris for 6 years, three of which the lobby was under construction. The elevator has been off for months at a time — super great for people living on the 8^th floor. Elderly people have tripped and fallen on construction debris, having to be taken to the hospital. The building manager, Lori, is absolutely horrible to deal with. She screams, hangs up on people, makes one feel like they are doing you a huge favor by letting one live in their properties, despite paying market rent or above. Maybe some of their buildings are okay, but if my experience is remotely typical, stay away.

I have been consistently impressed with Manocherian Brothers, which is a bit surprising to write since I am talking about a NYC lessor. They undertook a renovation of my building a few years ago, which was done quickly, painlessly, and well. They plant flowers outside in the spring and summer, which is nice. And when I had to deal with them directly, they were real people — nice, reasonable, and responded promptly. Not that you really choose your buildings based on your management company, but in my experience this is a good one.

I lived in a Manoco building at 201 East 12^th Street for 3 years. They hired a fantastic super, renovated the building, and responded to my requests quickly and reasonably. On the latter point, my upstairs neighbors got a new subwoofer that could be clearly heard in my apartment and the management company was quick to get in touch with them about it. They also weren’t annoying about rent payments — if I was a couple of days late, it was no big deal.
I definitely recommend working with them.
