I’m originally from Guyana, South America, but I consider myself a true New Yorker now. I’m proud to say that I have been a member of the Manhattan Mini Storage family for over 20 years and I’m still loving every moment of it. I’ve been at the 134th Street & Riverside location for the past 3 years. I love my building! The best part about my job is getting to know my neighbors, whether they are the Bodega down the block or the family living across the street. I work hard with my staff (they’re the best) to provide excellent service to our guests, and ensure that everyone has a great experience with us.

Something to be aware of… If you elect the month-​to-​month option upfront (it’s more expensive) then later decide to use the storage unit for a longer time, you are stuck with month-​to-​month. So really try to plan out your needs because it could save you A LOT of money.
I had been paying month-​to-​month but called to request a long-​term rental contract for 6 months (at a cheaper rate) and I was told they can’t do that. The only way to get a cheaper long-​term rental rate is to go online, find a cheaper price, quote it to them, RENT A NEW/​DIFFERENT STORAGE UNIT AT THE SAME FACILITY, and physically move all of belongings into the new unit. How on Earth is that convenient for anyone? Labor intensive for me, and paperwork intensive for them. I don’t get it. I want to keep my storage unit for longer, you’d think they would be happy to offer me a contract. But no.

Ronald Cafarelli was great with arranging my storage reservation. Their customer service is beats most experiences I’ve had that required assistance this involved. If you want to invest in a worthwhile experience while you are transitioning to another living situation or just need some simple storage, this is the place to go. I would give Ronald 10 stars if that was an option on Unilocal

The customer service at this location is fantastic. I had a complicated storage situation that Ronald helped me set up, and when the logistics weren’t working out for me, he worked with me to find other units that would suit my needs. I would definitely recommend working with them!

The humor of Manhattan Mini Storage ads have always gotten my attention and the staff here keeps it going.
I met with Sasheka in trying to find the right unit to move into. She offers wonderful customer service. She worked very hard to give me quality attention and had patience as we walked through the facility. She’s very personable and a great character.
I highly recommend this place. Give it a shot and tell Sasheka I said hi!

Omg. In the middle of the blizzard when I have a rented truck full of furniture and every storage place is closing, not even calling me to tell me.(I had a few reserved) Manhattan mini storage came through. Anthony is awesome! Told me «they won’t close». Mind you an impending historical blizzard in happening. Truly professional. Great facilities. Thanks guys!

I had a good experience with this storage. They open early and close late 7 days so that is great. They are very clean with a giant dumpster outside so you can clean out your storage efficiently. The best part is that they have a shuttle that will pick you up and drop you back off at your apartment whenever you need to collect your things. The rates were also very reasonable compared to other facilities.

I was a little apprehensive after reading the mixed Unilocal reviews, but it was cheap and close to the apartment I was moving out of so I decided to give it a try. I don’t know what all the negative reviews are about, maybe I got lucky and went in when the right staff members were working, but my experience definitely exceeded my expectations. I was too busy to move in on my originally scheduled day, but they called me the next day when I didn’t show up and were very understanding and rescheduled. When I arrived, Alicia walked me through the process, informed me of all the benefits of being a student (must have student ID), and helped me find the right size storage unit for my belongings. In addition to being courteous, friendly, and helpful, Alicia’s knowhow saved me money! I guess it depends on what you want out of your storage experience. If you are too can’t be bothered with moving your own stuff, or feel like a little manual labor is beneath you, then you should probably pay the extra money for the higher end storage services that pick up and drop off your stuff. If, however, you are trying not to waste money unnecessarily, this spot is clean, reasonably priced, and has friendly, helpful service. They even offer the use of a free van to move your stuff with, which for a budget storage company seems like a pretty great perk. Unfortunately I didn’t plan ahead and reserve it (it was a last minute decision on my part to get the storage unit). It also seems like its pretty easy to access your unit once you’ve moved in. The only thing that kept it from getting 5 stars was that none of the employees greeted me offered to assist me or when I was frantically trying to unload all of my stuff out of the cab with the meter running (there were definitely at least three employees not doing much but watching me as I was struggling to get all my stuff out onto the sidewalk). Maybe this is company policy, and I don’t expect full service moving assistance at this price point, but bringing a trolley/​cart out for me to load my stuff on would have been helpful so I wouldn’t have had to leave everything unattended on the sidewalk when I went inside. Just a friendly suggestion. Other than that, everything was great. Try to schedule your move in on a day when Alicia is working, and you will be taken care of!

I was impressed with their timely response as I received a phone call minutes after I had put in a reservation request. Sean was extremely helpful over the phone and proceeded to explain everything to me and get me set up.
On the day I arrived, Vanel Guillot took down all my information, showed me the storage area, and got everything in order for me. It was a smooth operation and I was able to move everything into my storage locker very easily. Vanel exhibited amazing customer service skills and made me feel at ease.
The facility itself is clean and seems well maintained. The equipment I used was all in good working order and the security of the place seems legit. I am comfortable keeping some of my valuables there and not worrying whether or not they are safe.
The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because on top of the monthly rental fee, you need to have insurance. I’m new to putting things into storage and at no point over the phone was I made aware of this. My suggestion to the staff making the phone calls would be to go over this with prospective customers. Let them know about this and give them the prices. It isn’t a deal breaker by any means, but it is nice to have the extra info.
I would recommend this facility to others.

Giving 1 star based on storage phone interview process with «Milan Halik». I booked a storage room on line, just like my fellow Unilocalers suggested and immediately received a call from a manhattan mini storage facility reservation desk employee who INSISTED, in a harsh tone, «we’ll get to that» every time I asked a question, obviously not in the order he was reading to me. By the tone of his voice I can tell this guy is probably one step away from being arrested on domestic violence charges. I may be a woman but no one puts me in a corner. This guy needs retraining. I’ll be returning with a review of my visit to the place.

Simply put, these guys are great. They were extremely helpful, and super friendly every step of the way. And if you’ve been to any establishment anywhere in NYC, you know how rare that is. On top of that, their prices are very reasonable. Need to store some stuff? Go to MMS on Riverside, you won’t be disappointed.

I have been a MMS storage customer for the past 2 years. Natasha has been one of the best representative I have dealt with at this location. She is very helpful and remains professional and very kind. However, for 1 year I had obtained a second storage and paid for nothing because I never used it and MMS was the winner. However, prior to Natasha I have made several attempts to cancel my second storage and MMS would not given in and allow me to cancel my second storage without paying outrages fees. I was so frustrated with the process. I had to pay the whole year of commitment before I could cancel. Finally, the year was up and I was released from my contract. This was not a good business practice of MMS and even the manager never assisted me. Each time was sorry you signed the contract, either you pay the contract amount or ride out your contract and pay monthly. I dislike the upper units because they are open and you dont get real protection of your items. For example, the lower units have steel tops. Otherwise, the facility is clean.

After reading many Unilocal reviews for movers/​storage in Manhattan, I decided to go with Manhattan Mini Storage. I had used Flat Rate before, but for moving only, and so I was looking for a convenient, well-​priced move + storage deal. Though my apartment was on the UWS, I went with this location because it had the cheapest rooms at the time. We picked up boxes, tape, and bubble wrap at the 107th St location, and everyone there was helpful and friendly. They tied the boxes together so we could carry them home easily (not that novel, but still appreciated!).
The best part of the move BY FAR was the moving crew. These guys showed up and immediately set me (and my overly anxious mother) at ease. They had extra packing supplies for the dresser and couch, and were seasoned experts at hauling stuff down my narrow pre-​war apartment stairwell. And they were hilarious to boot. I wasn’t nervous about the in-​transit safety of my stuff for one minute. If you go with Manhattan Mini Storage, request Tom, Steve, and Paul for your movers. They’re the best movers I’ve dealt with, and super time efficient. Moving in the city is stressful enough – get movers that will do the job right!

We honestly couldn’t be happier with the storage space and the staff at this storage spot. We kept our things with them for over 2 years and never had an issue of any kind. The facility was kept extremely clean and the staff was always very helpful and friendly. Our check out process was even more convenient and stress free than our check in process. Marlon Morano was so helpful and so kind. I would recommend anyone to use this storage at this location and to work with Marlon for the best service possible.

This is a re-​review.
First, I was in error when I said we had been doing business with M. M-​S for 14 years; it has actually been 30!
Next: The day after my review posted, we heard from Elias, the gen. mgr who was profusely apologetic and has since made the situation right.
We have been moved to another facility (by M. M-​S) were given a fair monthly rate and the people at the 241st Street are pleasant, polite and helpful.

I never had a problem with anyone in this facility except for when I encountered the General Manager-​Yamash Singh. I decided I wanted to donate some of my belongings to the senior citizens center across the way from the storage-​not even 30 feet along the way. I asked if I can use one the handtrucks to carry the items to which he replied «I cant allow you to remove this from premises» to which I replied «its only across the way there: I’ll even leave my driver’s license and/​or credit card. It’ll only take a few minutes. Why cant you?» He then responded that «I can’t let you remove the cart from the premises» and I again asked «why?» To which he responded «I dont need to give you any explanation» to which I was totally dumbfounded and insulted, because I was being so nice. I’ll admit «I called him an a_​_​hole and walked away because he was so insolent. When I came back I asked one of the staffers for his name, to which I can hear him from his office yell out «Give him my card, I’m not afraid of anything he can do to me» I told him he had a «fresh mouth» I don’t know who his superior is and I wont take this out against the staff, but he is rude and shouldn’t be in a position where customers are involved.

When I first did my buisness with them, the people were very nice and courteous. Rosa helped me open my account with them and was very helpful. However, I was not aware that I would have to put down a security deposit on the account and the man that I spoke with on the phone made no mention of it when I initially was interested in setting up a account/​unit with them. I ended up having to pay 2 months security for a unit that I only had to use for 1 month, which was over $ 500. This, to me, is ridiculous. It would have been 3 months security that they needed, but since I signed up for their direct withdrawl payment plan, they were nice enough to reduce it to 2 months…
They ask you to give them 21-​days notice when you are vacating the unit, which I made sure to do. I vacated the unit on the frst of the month. 4 days later, they withdrew a month’s rent on the unit and due to it, my account was overdrawn. Money should have never been taken out of my account in the first place. I had already vacated the unit and gave them enough notice. I spoke with them and they stated that they would reverse the charge. The next day they called me to state that a «check had been cut and they are mailing it out.» I had to ask my job to loan me the money so that my account would not be overdrawn…
I will not be a returning customer for this company, nor will I recommend any of my friends to do so either.

If you think you’re going to get a storage unit (room) anywhere in Manhattan for $ 39 the joke is on you. Clearly we’re talking about (maybe) a closet at this price.
***The facility is great, the representatives helpful, and I got a Great Deal on a 8×8 room with a 6mnth contract that also helped cover the cost of the move itself.
***The first 2.5 hrs were free, using their contracted pick (WHICH WERE A DREAM COME TRUE may I add.)
***Big Thanks to «Moving Ahead Movers»
[Danny on the phone, and the angel movers; Tyree, Mikey Brick, & Larry] So Fast it blew my mind. I ended up paying only $ 96 for the move due to their hustle. They were very professional and took great care with my furniture. Caring especially for my «prized pieces», my art and my grandmothers lamps :)
Remind you, I lived in a one bedroom apt on the other side of the island and on the 5th floor walk up.
Great Deal. Tremendous savings. Fabulous movers.

WARNING: The luxury of the free ride service is not as cool as it sounds. They don’t help you load and unload (just stand there and watch you do it, even if you are clearly struggling) and do not give you a free ride with or without your stuff if you are vacating the storage unit. They also don’t shuttle to any of the boroughs, so I have to hire movers anyway.
DO THIS: Hire movers and find a place that is actually cheap and convenient (not just advertised for $ 29/​mo, when really there is no such thing)
I ended up paying $ 55 for this month and have not been happy with the «perks». I should have gone somewhere that offered the first month free at the very least.
Definitely having buyers remorse…

I strongly advise against the place. There are better local options, although I didn’t think so when Manhattan Mini quoted me on the phone. They sound like the best deal in town because they lie completely. When I got to my unit with alllll of my things, we realized they had given quoted me (very wrong), so the price would be more appealing-​but the space was too small! I was very clear about the things I was storing! My space would now cost $ 50 more each month. Also, the free move they gave me, including offering an additional person (I didn’t even need one), required a 6 month minimum stay. They didn’t tell me that!!! I was very clear that I would not be staying that long. When I finally move out I will owe them $ 225 for the ‘free move.’ THEN they charge you insurance. The agent, in person, on day of move-​in, said I could submit my current insurance and they would rebate their fees. Turns out this was garbage too.
So disappointing. Don’t do it!!!
