5 STARS ALL AROUND. Shalinda Watson provided top notch customer service! Apart from being friendly, informative and efficient, Shalinda most importantly LISTENS to your needs. I had a hard time estimating the # of boxes and the size of my storage unit — within listing my big items, Shalinda was quickly able to determine the correct size. She booked a convenient unit by the elevator to make my moving day EASY (whereas I was considering a top shelf unit which would’ve required a ladder — what a hassle that would’ve been!) She provided every detail on costs, booking of the Storage Taxi service (free pickup/​drop off!) and payment due dates. She was transparent — NO HIDDEN CATCH here. In New York City, we’ve grown accustomed to rude service elsewhere. At Manhattan Mini Service, I received the best customer service I’ve ever had in the city. On this asset alone, I would book again and I will recommend this company to all of my friends.

This is actually my first Unilocal review, but I feel as if it is much needed. I would like to give a warm thank you to Joe Etienne and his team of movers, who made my move from Jersey City to Manhattan a lot less stressful than it was before calling manhattan mini storage. Joe was amazing, he stayed in contact with me for over a month, and responded right away whenever I had a question via email. The standard this company sets for themselves is evident through the kindness of the movers and the smiles at there storage building. This was my first storage experience but I couldn’t imagine it getting any better than this. I wanted to thank Joe and speak to his supervisor who wasn’t available at the time, so im hoping Joe and his team gets recognized for my amazing experience through this review.

Shalinda, the storage associate at 510 – 520 West 21^st street location made this an easy, informative, and might I even say FUN process. The moment I walked in, she greeted me with a smile, patiently explained everything I needed to know about storing in the facility, showed me the storage unit before I committed to anything, and walked me thru the no-​tricks billing procedure. I was shocked how reasonable their prices were for such a great location.
Manhattan Mini Storage gives me alot of confidence based upon the professionalism in every aspect of their work. The website gave me lots of options and I was able to choose a convenient move-​in date and size. Immediately after I made the no-​strings reservation online, Jay Chiu, a storage rep called me and asked pertinent questions and gave me all the info I wanted, as well as helped me schedule their free movers (up to 2.5hrs).
This facility was very accessible (right near the Highline), clean, and there seems to be alot of space for trucks to park outside. I’d recommend it so highly and it’s so refreshing to see such competent, friendly people in New York City. Keep up the great work!

Have dealt with storage companies before. And truthfully can say hands down, Manhattan mini storage on w21st, (north side of street) is the best I’ve dealt with. From day one through three years of service, no tricks. No attempts to collect fees that weren’t my fault. And the customer service was great. In a time where customer service no longer exists… Would definitely utilize their services again.

Great storage and the hallways seem more spacious compared to other locations so moving big pieces aren’t an issue.
The pricing for this location is «slightly» higher than other locations but then again, it’s Chelsea.
My only complaint is it’s an extremely far walk from the nearest train station.

This place works! No hidden fees or costs — there is a compulsory insurance fee ontop of the quotes fee but still competitive. Remember to take a lock or but one there. The cherry on top — or cherries are the following!

I rarely do this. But this time I want to say a few words about this really amazing personals down on 21^st and 10^th ave, The team manage two locations on the same block. Everyone is super nice and friendly. The manager Merlin is truly nice and fair person, willing to listen and help at any point and accommodate with whatever he can. Same goes for his wonderful 2^nd in command Shana. I personally know Tony Kenny, Bibi, Harry, James, Donna, Shelinda and Valencia (who is now at a different branch) all of the above are dedicated hard working individual, always friendly, professional, helpful, mindful and responsible. I believe this team is great and the underline service is an A in my book.

Not only is this a convenient location, but the staff here is amazing (especially Donna!!!), and always go above and beyond of what’s expected. If Donna isn’t available Marlon, and Shaina are great too, but I’m sure whoever assists you will make sure you’re well taken care of.

There is an angel working at the 21^st Street location of Manhattan Mini Storage and her name is Donna James. Donna was patient, efficient, and optimistic, making a stressful move much less so. She knows her job inside and out, an amazing professional and talented people person. She makes the Manhattan Mini Storage experience as pleasant and as reassuring as it could be. She should be training staff or running operations. Seriously. She deserves a promotion, the type of talent that is impossible to find and important to hang on to.

I worked with Tony and Marlon in NY recent leasing then move to MMS. The service was top notch, and after comparing my options MMS gave me the most accessibility along with the size storage I needed.
Toni was absolutely professional during my initial visit and showed me several different rooms available, and proactively offered a 3^rd fl storage unit very close to the elevator. This is more secure in my opinion and also more flood proof. Seeing I was thirsty (took city bike to the location) I was offered a free bottle of water with a cup right away. I won’t talk about deals but after making comparisons with public storage and POD, MMS was the best option. They went above and beyond to make sure i was 100% happy, lets just say. I wanted a good location near my new home and good security so I don’t have to worry about random people breaking in (i have rented storage space from a sketchy place before in Newark NJ) and this location suited me perfectly.
Moving a 10 ft truck full of boxes and furniture was a breeze as they had plenty of dollies to go around. Marlon was super helpful in manning the massive elevator and the move in was done in 40mins with two friends. I had plenty of room to put my stuff down while unloading, and the ground was kept very clean so I did not worry about putting my snowboard and water bottle on the ground.
All in all lets just say if you want a good quality storage space that’s accessible with super helpful staff, I’d go with mms. I didn’t over pay for my 10×5 storage which was my worry in the beginning. Just talk to them to see what they offer and good luck with your next move.

I’ve worked with Manhattan Mini Storage for the last 5 years on a back to school donation drive for homeless children. They place boxes in their lobby, promote the drive through social media channels and on their LED screens, as well as provide pickups and delivery of all the supplies at the end of the drive. Everyone, from the top down has always been a pleasure to work with.
This past December, we received an extremely large donation to be stored until August. I spoke with MMS and within 24 hours I had 4 units waiting for me at the 21^st Street South building. Tony helped me through the enrollment process and everything was made incredibly easy. When I needed an extra unit, it was provided on the spot.

These past few months as I’ve been delivering the supplies, they’ve been extremely friendly and fun to work with. Tony and Marlon have helped me through the accounting and closing out process and have done everything to make emptying 5 units as easy as possible. They’ve even left the office to help me with the freight elevator.
The location is clean and very accessible. The staff is friendly. I hope I am able to work with them again soon.

Worked with Marlon here which was an absolute pleasure. He took the time to show me different room options and clearly explained my choices. I left there without feeling like I was pressured into anything and that I was getting a great deal. Highly recommend this facility and very highly recommend Marlon!

I would strongly advise against storing at this location.
As you can see from my posted photograph, all my stored belongings at the 21^st Street location were ruined in Hurricane Sandy. They were submerged in floor-​to-​celing water. Of course the hurricane was not MMS’s fault. However, the way I was notified about the catastrophe was downright creepy and sketchy. A surprise mass email two weeks after the storm saying essentially «All of your belongings may be unsalvageable. Please remove them immediately or we will.» Talk about «blame the victim»! There was no compassion, no real effort to take care of everyone’s often deeply personal and priceless belongings. When I immediately called MMS, I was told that if I did not arrive there within 48 hours, they would «dispose of» my belongings. This was hardly possible, as I was in Chicago when I received this correspondence.
The hurricane itself was a nightmare, but the way MMS treated me added enormously to the stress. I do not feel that they were either prompt nor professional — in a situation in which many people lost a huge portion of their life’s work and possessions.

Here is a follow-​up, in response to the detailed and inaccurate information in MMS’s reply to my review. Adam’s points whitewash what actually occurred from this customer’s end.
Most importantly: The first contact I received by email from MMS was on November 9. This was almost TWO WEEKS after Hurricane Sandy hit New York. Therefore, Adam’s assertion that MMS notified customers «in the hours and days immediately following the storm» sounds a lot better than the reality. After all was said and done, my belongings were indeed not «disposed of». However my review was about the threatening tone of the initial MMS email and of my phone conversations with MMS in dealing with the catastrophic aftermath. Quoting from the first paragraph of the email I received from Dimitrios Papiris: «Due to the flooding of these basements, the contents of the rooms are believed to have been ruined by the water. Little if any contents may be salvageable.» My first thought — and indeed my only thought for the next several weeks, was that my entire life’s possessions were gone. And in every phone call after this, I was told that if I did not show up within a day or two (again, I was not in New York for the entire fall), they «could not guarantee» what was going to happen to them. In the end, of course most items were ruined. However a few vital pieces of paper, and a few other items of value were indeed salvageable.
The suggestion to contact Mr. Papiris is not a useful one, as it was this office that I found most inadequate.
It is nice to hear how helpful and altruistic MMS was to other victims of the disaster in the greater community. It would have been nice to have received more professional, courteous, and empathetic treatment myself.

The professionalism, friendliness and desire to make your «move» as seamless as possible is what you get when you take up temporary storage at this Mini-​Storage facility.
Beginning with my initial on-​the-​phone inquiry to the follow up emails inquiring whether move was all (and more) than I had expected, Manhattan Mini Storage located on 531 West 21^st Street is one of the least things you need to worry about when moving. I found this out recently during a very stressful and unexpected sudden move from my NYC apartment. The General Manager of this location (Jyoti Sehgal) is like a kind auntie wanting to please and help in whatever way she can… and beyond. Her staff is a reflection of this same pleasant and friendly attitude. Uncharacteristically for a high-​stress job, these employees take you and your belongings very seriously… as though the possessions belonged to them. When I had a last minute (urgent) need to move an entire apartment from one contracted space within the facility to the other (located on another floor), the staff made all the arrangements and did so willingly, and wanting to HELP me through my panic. Anyone who has ever moved, let alone had to coordinate a move within NYC and within a very tight time frame, needs not look further. It was super simple to get to (right off the West Side highway), away from all the insanity of traffic found in virtually every other part of the city, the facility is bright (safe) and clean and the staff is there to assist — and makes it a point to let you know this. And too, although I’ve rented spaces in other storage locations throughout the city, even other Manhattan Mini locations, THIS ONE (on W. 21^st) is the BEST — great employees, great service, competitive pricing and PEACE of mind is what you get here.
