Paul works late and scheduled last minute mini storage move in a day. Oscar and Jose moved at lightning speed packing 70 square feet of storage in less than 2 hours including travel time. Outstanding job!

This was a hassle-​free experience. Had a van’s worth of stuff to haul from Brooklyn to about 2 hours north. The two guys who were assigned to the task where professional, quick and NICE. I’m very happy with how this turned out and would use them again in a heartbeat. Also, I did my homework when researching movers, and their price was reasonable and competitive. They never harassed me via email to ask if I was ready to book. Communication was clear and easy. Give them a shot!

I just can’t say enough about Man With a Van! They are efficient and professional, really know how to use technology to provide excellent customer service! They keep you in the loop, respond to your emails, show up when they say they will. Andy and his partner were great! Friendly, fast working, kept it moving! Price is reasonable. I recently moved from Murray Hill to Chelsea and couldn’t be happier with the moving service provided by Man With a Van. We scheduled the move with short notice and they were very responsive to our emails. The moving crew showed up exactly at our scheduled move time, was incredibly efficient packing and unpacking our belongings and were very courteous, friendly and respectful. I would definitely recommend them.

Great, prompt service from the kind and efficient Tori on the phone to the two gentlemen who arrived on time in Chelsea and wrapped up my beautiful new sofa and delivered it in perfect condition in less than an hour to the upper Eastside in ugly traffic.

Called them last minute — the day before Thanksgiving — for a move that had to be scheduled for that following Saturday — 3 days later. The reason for such short notice was that another moving company («Experienced Movers») failed to show up the day of the move and then could not even be reached. Not only was NYcityVAN able to provide the service that day, they were also able to accommodate a limited time frame. They arrived on time, took care of everything, start to finish, and were incredibly reasonably priced. I would not hesitate to use them again and would highly recommend them to anyone else.

UPDATE– Management worked with me to provide a discount, after further discussing the substantial issues that happened during my move within NYC.
ORIGINAL POST– Wow, where do I begin. I used Man with a Van because they were highly rated on Unilocal,and I was ultimately pretty disappointed. As with most buildings in New York, there are very specific time constraints to be allowed through the building with furniture. This was spelled out at least four times for Man with a Van dispatch and through their phone number. Of course, this limitation was completely ignored on moving day.
Not only did I have to payoff my building to let me through after our time, but I was literally moving boxes on and off the truck, shoulder to shoulder with the team, and brought boxes up and down several flights of stairs with the movers just to have a chance to make my building’s time window. Although the drivers were friendly and sympathetic, they arrived almost 3-​hours after they said they would be there. Just because you own a van, does not mean you know how to manage and scale a business.

So, I am about a month late on my review, but I really wanted to give a shout out to these guys. I was a t work when they moved our apartment. we had a storage unit full of boxes, some furniture and a lot of random, loose items. They cleared the storage unit in 1 hour and moved into the apartment (4 story walk up) in an hour. they travel time is covered under one flat rate so whether its 10 minutes or an hour (ours was an hour, yeay traffic) they stick to their policy. the entire process took under 4 hours and cost under 400 dollars. and what is more? not a single thing broken, scratched, lost. everything intact. If these guys are still operating next time we move, we will surely use them again!

Super easy quote, scheduling, & COI process. Good value for the price. Super nice movers.
They were not as quick as I thought they would be from reading other reviews. It took 1.5 hours for 2 movers to get all of my stuff (pre-​boxed, so no packing necessary) from a 1BR into a sprinter van via elevator, which feels on the average/​slow side.
Although the movers were really nice guys, they broke my tv stand in 3 different places. They offered me a $ 60 discount to compensate.

TLDR: easiest move ever.
Approaching my 11th move in the city, I was pretty tired and didn’t feel like bothering my friends to help lug my stuff between boroughs. Calling Man with a Van was therefore a great idea. Everything from getting the initial quote to the actual moving process was super easy.
On the day of my move, the guys gave me a call when they were about thirty minutes away. When they got to my apartment in Queens, they loaded everything up into the sprinter van in about thirty minutes (desk, shelves, bed frame, mattress, eight or so boxes…). I tried to help so I wasn’t useless/didn’t look like a princess, but I think I just got in their way; they really didn’t need me, haha. They drove everything over to Manhattan (I had to pay the toll) and had it all unloaded in about another thirty minutes.
Even though it didn’t take too long, I still had to pay the two hour minimum. Though, everything was so quick and easy, I really didn’t mind. Because I had a mattress, I was also required to buy the $ 8 mattress bag to protect from bed bugs. I was able to pay for the move and toll using a card, which was convenient. I’d definitely turn to Man with a Van again for my next move, but hopefully that won’t be for a long time…

(Yes, I’m coming out of Unilocal hibernation to review a moving company. That’s how good these guys are!)
Everyone knows that moving is a stressful ordeal — You never realize how much you accumulate in life until you have to physically move everything from one location to another. My move was especially stressful because I only had 1 week to plan/move…not a lot of time, to say the least.
Man with a Van was incredible from beginning to end.
— I used their website to request an estimate on Sunday morning. I had a response within a couple hours.
— Both my buildings requested COIs (my move-​out building was a huge stickler for wording) and Jess had them ready to go the same day I requested them.
— My moving crew was AMAZING — Mike, Matt and James were definitely the A-​team! Super communicative, friendly and, most importantly, great with time. They were punctual (showed up right in the middle of their arrival window) and hustled the entire time — I feel like it took them longer to drive from Manhattan to Queens than it did to load the truck! The entire move was done in 3 hours, including the drive, and all my stuff arrived in perfect condition.
Overall, I feel so incredibly lucky I booked my move with Man with a Van. They made my short notice move so easy, I can’t imagine going to anyone else in the future.

Surprisingly flawless move! Nothing is easy in NYC and moving can be a nightmare. I have used Man with a Van a few times in the past for small jobs so I was pleased they would help with my midtown to UES move. Juan, CQ & Mario were on time, professional & friendly. They packed the truck meticulously and shrink wrapped and blanket wrapped all the furniture. They took great care with the art, mirrors, and boxes of fragile items. They even took care of my plants and put them in last where they would be safe. Seriously we could not have been happier with this awesome team! I highly recommend Man with a Van and if you get lucky enough to get this team you will be in good hands!

I had a crazy situation recently where I sent a shipment to the Bronx that was refused, and the person who was supposed to receive it created a lot of drama. A personal dispute (not involving me, long story) had complicated the situation. The refused shipment was to be disposed of, as per company regulations, and the driver called me and informed me what was happening every step of the way. The company agreed to store the shipment for me while I found a storage space. They were probably horrified by the drama, but everyone was so understanding. They must see drama involving family disputes and breakups all the time, but they were really cool about it. I am so grateful!

These guys were able to help me the same day I called them, and even though they were a little late due to traffic, they kept me posted as to their whereabouts until their arrival. They were fast and friendly and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience my first day in the city!

In 15 years in NY and at least as many apartments I can’t say for sure I’ve ever had a good moving experience. At least not until yesterday.
These guys are quick, courteous, affordable, and very professional. I need COI’s for my co-​ops, they were in my inbox by days end (usually takes a few days of bickering back and forth). The movers were only about 5 mins late (NYC record?). They were expedient, took great care of all of my stuff (particularly some nice guitars), and even struck up some conversation while lifting couches, etc.
Juan, Mario, & GQ were my movers. Hats off to them! My g/​f used Dumbo for her half of the move into our new place the next day, and was on the floor in tears by the time they finished… I remember those moves… Never using another mover again, thanks guys!

Almost two years after NYcityVAN moved me and my wife from Harlem to a tiny studio in Hell’s Kitchen, it was time to move again. This time to a house on Long Island. We had such a great experience with NYcityVAN that we decided to use them again (plus their quoted rate was significantly less than the other two companies I contacted).
The guys showed up right on time and started moving stuff immediately. The studio was cleared out pretty quickly and the unloading was even faster. From beginning to end, including the drive from Manhattan to Great Neck, the move took right around 3 hours. They were professional, quick, and very friendly. This was definitely another 5-​star experience.

Can’t believe I never wrote a review for these guys! I’ve used them about 6 or 7 times over the past 8 years. Always received professional guys who worked diligently and swiftly. Courteous, professional, never tried to gauge me with extra fees/​costs, often rounded down. Never had one thing broken or damaged in anyway, including my antique cello.
I referred them to a colleague, who had the exact same experience.
They prefer cash, and will give a receipt, though you can convince them to take a check. Like with any mover, you have to be packed well before they arrive to get the speedy service. But good, hardworking folk. Highly recommend them.
