This is the most unprofessional Mac Cosmetics Location in New York whatever happened to the days when the cosmetics girls were polite, attractive, professional, and eager to sell???
This review is specifically for Yvette I believe the manager of this location, she is one of the most unprofessional and unattractive people I have ever met in my life, both inside and out!!!
Every single time I go into this location I always wind up having to put her in her place, she is miserable, rude, unprofessional and unwilling to help, today I walked into the store to get a haute and naughty mascara, 1 freaking thing!!! she did everything she could do to not assist me including taking other customers in front of me, finally I had enough and asked the other sales associate to help me cause I had to go, Yvette hears me saying I no longer wanted to be helped by her and says out loud to the other Mac employee here take the mascara and ring her!!! cause I can’t deal with her today!!! We then get into an argument inside the store in front of the other customers and staff. I also notice when i got home she gave me the wrong product. Don’t believe me just read a couple of the other 1 star reviews involving Yvette!
Point is… I will never shop in this location again it is both unprofessional and dirty, not to mention it’s under staffed and never has the products you need, all due to the manager Yvette ., I will be following my Unilocal review up with a call to Mac Cosmetics corporate offices.

So I don’t Unilocal.Ever. But I always read reviews and had such a nice experience with Rahz that I had to sing her praises online. (Esp because this location seems to get a lot of bad reviews.) I know next to nothing about make up. Other than foundation and mascara, I don’t know how to use it even though I love it. Rahz helped me pick out a foundation and even stepped away from her current client (there were only two girls working and they both had clients) to quickly sit me down and try it on to make sure it matched with my skin. She was super friendly and her make up was flawless. Great experience.

Location is great since my office is directly above, but customer service is pretty bad. Stopped by yesterday after work and no one offered to help. I finally asked for assistance in grabbing a lipstick (already knew what I wanted), and they told me they’d be right with me. I waited about 25 minutes and left. Went by again on my lunch looking for perhaps a different outcome, exact same thing. Women said she’d be right with me and I asked for a ballpark on how long that would be, then she said said, «well ma’am…». I didn’t hear the rest, they’re acting like they’re the busiest people ever. We all know what they’ve got in terms of product. Only come to this store if you have time to waste.

Now my experience was interesting. I was going to write a decent review, but after thinking about everything, NAH! These days I’m a sephora girl. I used I high end makeup & skincare products and rarely go to mac and I was reminded why. When I first walked in I was greeted (shocking) lol being greeting by a prestige mac employee is very rare (check out youtube videos). I was also greeting by a lot of stink faces & jealousy lol seriously. I’m guessing it was because my makeup pretty much looked better than everyone working there. some customers though I worked there. Anywho just I know how to apply makeup flawlessly doesn’t mean I can’t be helped. Anywho i was helped by an individual named Alyssa of course she gave off that I don’t want to be bother vibe but I’m a tough cookie and I wanted my products. In the middle of her helping me one of the stink faces asked me if I needed help after watching me stand in the front. Hilarious you ask me if I need help after I’m being helped lol I can’t. Fast forward I get home and realize a lot of the items I wanted wasn’t in the bag? My concealer palette my lipsticks I bought a lot of things but I clearly told her what I wanted as I was going and she was going back and forth adding things to my pile I saw her put the lipstick there but I guess she was nah i don’t want you to look any prettier THE CONCLUSION she tried to sabotage me *insert laughing crying emoji* I had to go back today and get the right products because I was like nah sway she gave me a face powder 10 shades lighter i would’ve been looking like a ghost sad she also gave me the phony have a nice day thing save it honestly I’m over mac I spend almost 400 i would be petty and return it all

I wish I could give this location ZERO stars. I walked in and browsed for about 10 minutes. The store wasn’t crowded & not one employee asked me if I needed help. I tried making eye contact with 2 of the employees… both ignored me. I won’t be back. I love MAC, just not this location!

Best MAC Cosmetics I’ve been to in my life. The consultants are all knowledgeable and friendly. They also took up massive amounts of time with me after there were several complications with a gift card I was using. They went above and beyond to solve my problem for me.
It’s very clean and organized, despite it being outlandishly crowded. It’s still possible to do your shopping and not feel overwhelmed or too congested.
The staff here is a great group of people. I loved it!

After reading many of the reviews, I was under the impression that the artists at this location have the same overwhelmingly elitist attitude that so many other MAC artists have (and honestly, with no merit), but fortunately for me, I didn’t have a bad experience.
Full disclaimer, I went in knowing exactly what I wanted, didn’t need any help.
However, I was greeted immediately upon walking in, by security and an artist. I was helped within about 5 minutes of standing around, it was a Sunday afternoon and pretty busy. The artist got my products and another patron’s products in a timely manner and was ready to ring us up.
My only qualm is, being a pro member I get a discount and didn’t have my pro card. Idk what it is but sometimes the artists act like its life or death if you don’t have it, I typically show my ID to get the discount, all my info is in the system. But anyway, that was annoying, not big deal.
Total time spent in the store was roughly 15 minutes.

Didn’t even get a chance to go inside. The store closed at 9 and I arrived at 8:45 only to find that they had already locked the door. The staff inside ignored me when they saw me trying to open the door. Unfortunately, looks like negative reviews are the norm here.

About 10 years ago, when everybody was first raving about MAC, I walked into the store in Soho. After a brief exchange with a very rude employee («You probably can’t afford this foundation; it’s TWENTY-​FOUR DOLLARS,» he sniffed), I walked out and vowed never to patronize them again, not even if they began marketing a product that turned back the hands of time.
Well, a lot of time has passed, and I ordered a MAC/​Nordstrom eyeshadow palette online the other day, which got me looking at their other products online, and I decided I wanted to go to the store and get a lipstick (Relentlessly Red) and maybe an eyeshadow brush or two. In short, I was expecting to spend around $ 100. I live in Harlem, so the store is right around the corner.
I entered the store late on a Saturday afternoon, and it was very busy. Two employees were giving full makeovers to customers, one was manning the register, and two others were working the floor. I tried and failed to get the attention of one of the non-​makeover employees. (Incidentally, every person who entered was greeted, except me. Not sure what that was about, unless they didn’t like my Ohio State t-​shirt.)
After inspecting some products and viewing the brushes from afar (they’re behind the counter), I tried to approach a male employee who was stocking shelves, just to ask WHO could help me. He steadfastly refused to meet my gaze, eventually RUNNING away to avoid having to help me.
By this time about 15 minutes had gone by. I noticed that there were drawers under the lipstick display, and figured maybe I could just find the lipstick myself and take it up to the register, and forget about the brushes. Once I had opened a drawer or two, though, I suddenly started getting a lot of personal attention!
«THOSE DRAWERS ARE FOR EMPLOYEES ONLY!» thundered one of the makeover-​giving employees, looming over me as I bent over the drawer.
«Oh, sorry,» I said, «I’ve been trying to get some help for a few minutes so I thought I’d just –«
“WHAT. DO. YOU. WANT.»
«Uh…lipstick? Relentlessly Red? And –«
“AND. WHAT.»
«…and I wanted to get some help with some brushes?»
«What KIND of brushes?!»
«You know what?» I said, finally snapping out of it. «Never mind. I’ll just buy the stuff online.» And I walked out, this time for the LAST TIME.
In conclusion, MAC Cosmetics, I hope your products give everyone who buys them face herpes and you are forced out of business paying damages in a class action lawsuit. I would rather put live cockroaches on my lips than use any of your products.

So I previously went to the MAC store in Harlem. As always it’s very crowded and busy, getting help in this store can be tricky. Furthermore I encountered a manager by the name of Ivette and I asked her to help me look for a few items. She stalled a bit and I was following her around like a puppy then she asked in a condescending tone «what can I do for you»? Had she just politely stopped or gave me some kind of customer service then I wouldn’t have to follow her around. Anyway finally I was spoken to about what I was looking for and she was rude, condescending and down right nasty. Nowadays customer service is hard to come by and people think that it’s okay to be rude and nasty. Well I won’t be returning back to this particular MAC store and hopefully she gets her attitude adjusted.

I went to this store on April 4^th, 2015 in a bind. I wanted my makeup done for my birthday that evening, but hadn’t made an appointment. I walked in and asked a lady at the counter if they had any openings and was informed that they were booked. :(However, she said she could check to see if she could squeeze me in with someone. Cue JJ!
JJ was not only gracious enough to fit me in, SHE WAS THE BOMB! I am admittedly not a makeup wearer (besides a little tinted moisturizer and a mascara) my face is pretty bare. However, I knew that I wanted something a little more dramatic than the usual (it was my birthday after all) but nothing that would make me unrecognizable. She had the perfect touch. Not only was my face painted to perfection, she highlighted all the parts of my face that made me beautiful. I had this beautiful, classic Hollywood glamour look (all humility aside, I looked amazing). She even talked me into getting lashes, worth it. Overall, it was such a pleasant and worthwhile experience.
I’ve read the reviews about this store but I had such a pleasant experience dealing with all of the ladies, not just JJ (I can’t say enough good things about her work, or her spirit, she’s actually this amazing), that I have no problems not only giving them five stars, but recommending them to my friends. Also, I did notice some really pushy and demanding people coming in, and I thought the ladies handled them with the perfect amount of professionalism, while still holding their ground. Bottom line, we are all people and have to expect people to treat us how we treat them. I’m just saying…

I am a huge MAC fan, but not of this store. I understand it gets busy but when I walk in, I usually know exactly what I want and just want to make a purchase. This evening was the third time that I’ve walked out of the Harlem MAC because I’ve waited over 15 – 20 minutes without being acknowledged. I’ve been to the MAC in Soho, on 5^th Avenue and on Columbus-​’- all great experiences. Good customer service or strategic handling of heavy foot traffic is amiss at this location. Will not be shopping here again. Will make the trip downtown for some actual customer service.

I am not a make up user, but I thought, you only live once and yes, even I can admit to always wanting to see what I look like all dolled up (so to speak) I had ton of questions about what to do… what to buy… how to apply it correctly etc. I am a visual person so I scanned the room and picked someone who makeup I like. She asked what can she get me. told her I needed advise on makeup, because I don’t wear it. Wanted some advice about where to start…$ 50 she says… for? I asked. She was advsing me of the price for the makeover. A make over would be fine but first I would like to know where should I start and some color samples. She wasn’t a friendly person and I practically had to pull the answers out of her about the make up and what to get. I like the products that I bought and I think that the color fits me. I just wished that I had a better experience. Maybe the next time I will do the opposite, pick the girl with the look that I don’t want… lol
Well, kudos to your product MAC, but your employees need a little more customer service training

I went to this store because it is walking distance. I had been to the one in Times Square and the one In Queens Center and I prefer this one in Harlem. Now imagine that.
I had a completely different experience in this store than many of the other reviewers, i am happy to say. First, after I read the reviews, I decided I was going in and should anyone seem attitudinal I was planning to say «You seem like you are having a tough day. What I can do to make it better for you?»
Yes, I decided to go in with the expectation that anything negative I could turn into a positive and guess what? Before I got there everything was in good energy. i walked in and a few people said ‘Hi” and then as one of the staff became free she came over and helped. I waited no longer than 5 minutes.
I had Alissa and she was fun and showed me all kinds of things. They did not have a few of the items I wanted however Alissa showed me fabulous alternatives and I walked out with a bag full of more beautiful, high quality and fun-​to-​wear make up. I love all the vibrant colors. Wait until you see my sparkly and glitterly eyeliner and shadow pigments. I know you are thinking ‘Yuck-​o” but really… have you every seen me looking anything but fabulous in my make up?
As I was there, I observed what all the other staff were doing and all were pleasantly helping whoever came in the store… and the all had pleasant demeanors as far as I can see. Even after someone’s little girl put the lipstick tester all over her lips. We all just laughed.
I think it is possible that the clientele who come to this store are not Unilocaling the positive experiences.
The only negative was that they were out of several things I wanted and this is a off time. But as I said… I got some other really nice products and how can you go wrong in MAC? You can’t unless you are just a total you-​know-​what.

I am so glad to come on here and see that I am not the only person who has had consistently poor customer service every time I visit this MAC location.
If you go in with a question, they look at you as though you are inconveniencing them with your lack of product knowledge. If you go in knowing what you want, good luck trying to find someone to check out you in under a half hour. There is never one employee designated to work register so patrons have to wait around for an artist to be done doing makeover just to check out.
It’s ridiculous. This past Saturday, I called out on the artists on his/​her abrupt nature and snippy attitude to only be told rather patronizingly, I’m sorry I feel like that.
If I could give it zero stars I would. Sadly, myself and other will likely still patronize because it is close to home but I do wonder if it’s worth the aggravation.

I went there on an unglamorous day to inquire about a foundation that a friend recommended to me. When I asked, the irritated-​looking employee said yes we have it and picked up a makeup brush and started poking my cheek with the brush in a hostile way like he was almost stabbing my face with it even while I was trying to talk and pull away.
I hadn’t asked for a makeover, if that’s what that was, just to see a particular product, so I really didn’t want him to put some random makeup on my face. He had a disgusted look on his face that he had to help people and just kept stabbing my neck with the brush after I dodged contact with my face. It felt like he was mentally spitting at me.
Lots of other employees there stood around and watched while I defensively threw up my hands to block the brush as he actually made it hurt. I said nevermind and walked out and WILL NEVER RETURN. It was beyond awkward and a little embarassing and creepy.
Which is apparently what the guy wanted. To lose all customers.
To be fair, this was a couple years ago.

Let me just say that I am not into makeup nor do I use it often. One of my friends was constantly telling me about the wonders of makeup and every time I saw her looking amazing she would say that was coming from the MAC store. I met my friend here to try on lipsticks and it turned into a full blown make-​up application session. This store is pretty small and it was a packed on Friday afternoon. There were people everywhere trying on makeup or waiting to pay. Although there are a lot of employees working here it appears as though only 3 out of the 15 are actually working. This seems to be the root of the problem. There is no organization and instead of everyone working they seem to mill around aimlessly while the limited people who are actually doing their job try to do everything at once. The girl doing our makeup would have to stop and walk over to answer the phone even though there were about 5 others behind the counter just chatting.
My friend wanted to wait for a specific girl to do our make-​up and it took forever. I honestly can’t remember the make-​up artist’s name but she was soo patient and extremely thorough. She ended up trying several looks on me and actually demonstrating how to do them myself. If this review was for her alone she would get 5 stars but the lack of organization at this store is just ridiculous.

Never again.

I found the product myself through trial and error. Then the MUA stared at me as she was on the phone while I waited to check out. I will pick up my cosmetics at another location.

My first visit to this location and my experience wasn’t anything special! The security guard was nice enough to greet me when I walked in however no one was available to assist me so I quickly left. Mind you, the store was empty except for one other customer! I won’t be returning back to this location I don’t care how much I love MAC products!

Despicably unprofessional.
I went into this MAC location today and I was truly disgusted by the shitty customer service and overall lack of professionalism. There are grown ass women working in this store, not teenagers at their first job at the mall. I would have thought it was the latter. The «artists» were in there chatting it up with their non-​employee, non-​customer friends like they were on their lunch break.
It took about 15 minutes for me to get service. Yes, I did let one «artist» know that I did not need help at that particular moment, I wanted to have an idea of what I wanted first. Thereafter, I’m literally standing in the center of the store desperately trying to make eye contact with the «artists» roaming and chatting throughout. One woman, I opened my mouth to speak and she said someone would be right with me. She was handling a customer, yes, but she did not even gesture to anyone else in the store to let them know that I was a waiting customer. Unacceptable.
When someone finally noticed me and yelled to ask I needed help from the opposite end of the store (she was too tied up talking to her groupie friends to politely walk over as one would reasonably expect).
When she came over. She was generally unhelpful. I had picked out an eye shadow and asked what other colors, makeup would compliment. (I’m planning my makeup for the Beyonce concert next weekend (YAY!)) I was really prepared to drop some money in MAC (even though I prefer NARS, but I was in Harlem and NARS is not sold in Harlem). The last time I went to a MAC location I spent ~$ 400 (mostly because I got that super amazing $ 250 makeup case). Anyway, I asked what would compliment this. I basically had to ask her questions piecemeal… what about blush, what about lipstick. And the chick just sat there looking at eye shadows, she did not offer to put it on, play with colors, etc. — the type of shit I would expect from a «professional makeup artist». She generally suggested blushes and lipsticks that would compliment the look I was trying to go for. I had to ask her to show me specific colors/​names.
Naturally, I walked out without spending any money. I’d rather spend my money at another MAC location than to do anything to contribute to this DEARTH OF PROFESSIONALISM. I’m strongly considering writing a letter to headquarters.
