Lori S Weisenfeld, DPM

I came here for acute foot pain – google told me what it was, but I wanted to come in and confirm. She saw me promptly (about a 10 minute wait) and the office was clean. Lots of magazines around, which gave me something to do – since cell reception was spotty in the office.
She wasn’t warm and fuzzy, but immediately upon describing my symptoms she (correctly) guessed where my foot pain would be. She explained what causes it, as well as stretches/​exercises I could do to avoid it. She also gave me options for if that doesn’t work (shots, orthotics, etc.).
Dr Weisenfeld might not be the one for you if you want a therapist, but I appreciated the lack of time-​wasting and small talk – and I never had any doubts that she was totally on point with her medical knowledge. Since starting the stretches my pain is reduced, and the sneakers she recommended I switch to have probably helped. I’d come back if the pain returned.

I have an appointment with Dr. Lori today. It never occurred to me to write a review until I went online to check something and saw this site, but I have been seeing Dr. Lori for almost 20 years so I suppose that itself is a rave. I’ve had surgery with her, have regular check-​ups, and have sent friends and colleagues to see her. She is a terrific doctor. Plus she is smart and funny and compassionate and really helpful, even with recommendations and advice on who to see for physical ailments not directly in her field. I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Terrible doctor. Misdiagnosed me 3 times. Did not thoroughly examine me on initial exam. Wanted to shoot cortisone into arthritis in top of foot. Pain was in ankle. Created «slipper» out of tape for me to wear for a week that should make it better.
Next appt
Tried prescibing me a pain medicine that could potentially kill me (interacting w. a medication I already take) telling me «people take it anyway» and «can’t I take something else?» so she didn’t have to prescribe a controlled substance.
On 2^nd vist when I was not better, she FINALLY allowed my request for an xray and– Lo and Behold– Foot is Broken!!! Top of foot! Metatarsals, she says. She orders MRI (the ONLY good thing she did with me). Foot IS broken yet it is broken in the ankle area in which I was feeling pain in the first place, Not where she was looking on the xray… The part that originally hurt– and she ignored– when I went the first time. Dr. Weisenfeld is unable to read her own Xrays.
My experience: Stay away from this doctor! She has her own agenda of how she thinks things ought to be and is not interested in listening to her patients.

Even before examining my foot she diagnosed me with Plantar fasciitis and I would need orthotics that she will sell me.

I have extremely flat feet and have been coming to Dr. Weisenfeld for orthotics for years. She is always friendly, kind, and thorough. She treats athletes and non-​athletes and never rushes, always patiently answering any questions I might have and explaining anything that’s over my head. Her office is centrally located, which is convenient, whether I’m coming from home or work. I am surprised to see how few reviews reflect positive experiences with her, as I’d recommend her to anyone with any foot issues, but maybe Unilocal just isn’t the best forum for reviewing doctors.

DISCLAIMER: I did not see Lori Weisenfeld because she was not covered by my insurance.
However, when I first called to make the appointment I was told she took my insurance. When I got to the office at 9AM on Friday (after taking off from work) I was let in, and sat to wait for about 10 minutes even though there was no one else in the office. Then, when the assistant got around to taking my information, she rudely let me know that my insurance was not covered at this address but «might be» at another. Instead of calling the other location she just gave me the phone number and told me to call on my own. During my conversation with the assistant, Dr Weisenfeld came over and did not even look at my direction — just proceeded to interrupt our conversation ask a question for another patient and walk way.
For her bedside manner, mistreatment of new patients, and the disregard for patients’ time, I would not recommend this doctor.

I am a very competitive tennis player so my feet take a beating after spending hours on the court. I have been treated by Dr. Lori for over 10 years for a wide variety of foot ailments… corns, callouses, strain tendons, bone bruises, etc. Not only does she effectively take care of business allowing me to spend even more hours on the tennis court, but she spends the time offering explanations with a professional, sensitive, and courteous demeanor. I have also found her office staff to be quite efficient as I rarely wait but a few moments for my appointment.
I see Dr. Lori 3 – 4 times a year for general maintenance as a preventive measure. I have endorsed her professional services to close friends, work colleagues and relatives without any hesitation. Their experiences have always been positive.
The molded orthotics I purchase from Dr. Lori every 2 – 3 years are always on the mark with respect to giving me the support and comfort I need.
Again, for an effective podiatrist who solves problems, do yourself a favor, see Dr. Lori Weisenfeld.

Beware, she is very aggressive when cutting corns and callous– I have often left there with blood soaked bandages. She usually did manage to alleviate corns that grew under my pinky toe nail, however not without a lot of blood and pain during the process. But in a few weeks the small toe felt better. Last visit she cut so much callous off both my big toes that (at this moment) three days after her doing so I can barely walk and wondering if it’s infected. If not better tomorrow will go to urgent care. I had a recent sciatic back attack which was healing nicely. Now after awkward position of tending to my toes my back is acting up. I told her this, she is never sympathetic or apologetic. I will never go back would rather suffer with those corns under little toe nails for rest of my life than have her come near me with a sharp instrument again. She is well-​educated and talks a good line but she Cannot execute even a simple procedure without doing harm.

Dr. Weisenfeld is condescending and rude to all her patients and staff. While she does seem to be very knowledgeable, she doesn’t impart much of that to her clients without a heavy dose of arrogance. I went to Dr. Weisenfeld for 7 months treating my injury, which never got better. I kept thinking I was catching her in a bad mood or on an off day, but no… she’s just that awful.
There are plenty of doctors in this city who aren’t painful to be around… my advice would be not to waste your time.
