Lonestar Taco brings the lively flavors of Mexico and Texas to New York.
From our signature house made tortillas to our braised meats, we’re dedicated to the slow way of making intense and aromatic food. We create seasonal menu items that showcase the region’s bounty through sourcing our ingredients from local farmers and producers. Our food warms the heart, nourishes the soul and is a bright point in the day when served with a smile.
History
Established in 2011.
Lonestar Taco started as an idea across the breakfast table between owners Tracie Lee and Wayne Surber. It has been operating as a market stand with New Amsterdam Market in the southstreet Seaport since the Summer of 2012. They hope to find and open a restaurant that will feature an affordable and seasonal Tex-Mex inspired menu and look forward to welcoming you at the market until then.

Mr. Surber has worked for more than seven years in the food industry as a chef and cook in California,
Brooklyn and Manhattan kitchens, and previous extensive experience as a server, bartender and restaurant manager. Most recently he was Executive Sous Chef at Bouchon Bakery, a multi-million dollar casual fine dining restaurant at the Time Warner Center in New York, NY. He reported directly to Thomas Keller, one of the most highly respected, successful and renowned chefs in the world.
