I called this firm and made an appointment for a consultation. They gave me a date and time and readily accepted a $ 500 payment which I made immediately however I was not permitted to speak with an attorney. When I came in no one knew who I was. I was informed the firm had some recent turnover which caused some consultations to «fall through the cracks.» Any firm that can’t do something as simple as schedule a consultation that you’ve been paid for is not a firm that gives me confidence which is something that is vital for all attorneys that advocate for specials needs clients.

We had a very successful experience with Marion Walsh at Littman Krooks. We were referred to her by our son’s therapist to handle some very complicated bullying issues at school. Marion was tenacious in presenting additional facts to our school and making proposals about the right placement and modifications to his IEP. She didn’t relent until we got exactly what we wanted and our son needed. She was prepared with multiple strategies to cover all potential obstacles.
Our son is now thriving in a new program and will continue there next year. This is a program we didn’t know existed until we began working with Marion at Littman Krooks. We would recommend Marion Walsh to anyone in need of a compassionate, thorough and tireless advocate for their child.

We originally sought out this firm when our profoundly disabled twins were very young. We were in the lost and vulnerable stage so many parents experience trying to settle into a life we didn’t expect. Mr. Krooks took advantage, praying on our vulnerability, frightening us with a lecture about trusts and estate planning, making us feel an urgency and ultimately guilt if we didn’t act immediately. Then he outlined his exorbitant fee structure. We walked out overwhelmed and swore we’d never return. Years later, when we had educational issue, however, we once again sought out the help of this firm who had acquired Sheryl Frishman, a wonderful educational attorney who we had worked with in the past when she had her own boutique firm. Because of Ms. Frishman, we took a deep breath and retained the firm. Initially, we were very satisfied with the counsel of Attorney Frishman and her team. But the fees piled up quickly, our case was handed over to an advocate who left soon after and we hadn’t even begun to seek resolution. We were asked for a large retainer that was NOT applied to hours worked but rather kept while we were billed for every microsecond. We were billed hours to repeat ourselves to the newly assigned advocate. We never even met the attorney assigned to our case until we fired the firm and had to negotiate the bills. Instead of aiding us to resolve a conflict with our district, we ended up with a conflict with LK. Bottom line, it’s s mill with a greedy, uncaring leader at the helm. I almost feel sorry for some of the good people who work there, though most have left, including Sheryl Frishman.
Bottom line, there are enough good special education attorneys out there that don’t pray on the most vulnerable. Sheryl Frishman, wherever you are, come back to practice. You are a true advocate for our kids. Smart, fair and a great support for those of us in need. If anyone knows where Sheryl is working, please leave a message here. And stay away from LK.

I saw Mr. Krooks speak recently at an event for special needs (we were seeking information for additional services for one of my family members). Not only did he address the questions I had in person, his office followed up with me, to give me more information that they felt I could use. Special needs jargon is so confusing and ever-​changing and the process can be extremely difficult — this firm does an amazing job of helping those in need, especially in the special needs community.
