La Mulatresse

Excellent French creole cuisine and amazing service from the lovely owner! Will definitely come back.

My first thoughts: «French & Carribean? Well this should be interesting. Hmmm, they sell smoothies? Let me check this place out.»
I was walking home from the gym with my cousin when I stumbled across La Mulatreese. I’m always excited to see new, unique businesses in the neighborhood, and French & Caribbean is definitely different. After an intense workout at the gym, my cousin and I usually hunt for post workout snacks in the area, so as soon as we saw «green smoothie» on the easel we had to check it out. The employees were friendly and helpful. There was a young woman at the register who gave us a little preview of their food. Shepards pie, Curry Chicken and Potatoes au Gratin were the pre made dishes she showed us. But on their menu there are salad, breakfast and sandwich options. There was also a display of baked goods that were pretty tempting, but I had to remember what we were originally there for; smoothies. The nice young woman let us try the red smoothie, tasty but too sweet. I’m assuming they’ll be able to adjust the sweetness when I decide to purchase one. My only issue is the décor, they need to hook that place up. There are so many thoughts that come to mind when I think of French & Carribean, but nothing reminded me of either culture. Oh and it’s cash only, which is inconvenient for a person who always uses card.
Of course I’m coming back to purchase a smoothie, and eventually try some food.
