My friend is a regular at this salon and I’ve always admired her nails. She told me that Sandra, the owner does the best mani & pedi. So I finally decided to pay this place a visit and I booked an appointment for a manicure.
My first impression when I walked into this salon was wow– the décor was very elegant and clean. The receptionist greeted me, offered to hang up my coat and I sat in the waiting area. They have awesome magazines and Essie nail polish to choose from. Sandra then greeted me with a smile and I sat down at the manicure table.
The manicure itself was great! Everything was clean and sterile, she asked me how I wanted my nails and paid close attention to details. She filed, clipped & buffed my nails. She also gave me an excellent hand massage and knew a lot about reflexology and pressure points. She is very sweet and will make you feel right at home. You can tell that she definitely knows what she is doing, she took the time to remove the dead skin and she pushed back my cuticles.
At the end I was offered complimentary Essie quick dry drops, which worked instantly. They offer it as a $ 2 add on and although they don’t have nail dryers like average chop shops, their service isn’t like a chop shop either. Everyone here is very friendly and sociable. Way better than sitting quietly and not being able to communicate with the person doing your nails. Not to mention that they have really good music playing. Sandra then offered to do my brows, which were in serious need of a wax. Although I’m generally very cautious about where I go for these kinds of services and I’m used to threading my brows, I took her up on her offer and I’m glad I did.
Painless and quick is how I would describe my waxing experience with her. The wax room was cozy with nice curtains and décor. Once again Sandra paid close attention to detail and left my eyebrows looking flawless!
My over experience was fabulous. I was hesitant when reading reviews but I took my friends word for it. This is going to be my got to place from now on. It’s been a week and 2 days, I don’t see any unwanted eyebrow hair and my nails are in tact, considering how much I use my hands. This is the perfect place for a traditional manicure & they care about their clients needs. I have another appointment scheduled for a manicure and a pedicure with Sandra. I paid $ 18 for my manicure and $ 18 for my brows, plus, I was given a voucher for 20% OFF any new service on my next visit!

I’ve been to a slew of «waxists» in the city through Lifebooker and I have been going here religiously for Brazilians since I found the place. I go with or without a deal. I only allow Delmy to wax me because I’m neurotic and because she does an amazing job. She doesn’t get wax drippings all over your body and on sensitive areas down there where it shouldn’t be… I was getting tired of half of New York examining my lady bits because I didn’t like the results or the methods that were used. I recommend her tremendously.

I am a big fan of this adorable salon. I had a beautiful blowout done by Delmy for a wedding I was attending that evening. She took her time on each strand and the end result was a voluminous blowout loaded with curls! It was perfect. Thank you!

Saw this place on life booker. They were offering $ 22 for Brazilian. I thought I’d give it a try since it’s close to my house. Receptionist decided to just honor the same price since I haven’t purchase the life booker voucher yet. I thought that was a sweet deal!
I’m very picky about my Brazilian wax. Brazilian wax usually means all hair off! This place didn’t deliver. And it’s sad because the lady who waxed me was extremely nice!!! While in the procedure I even told her to go ahead and wax my legs too since she was nice and accommodating. And I usually wax my legs myself, but I’d figured… Ehh why not! But it wasn’t until I was on my trip and I slipped on my bikini and my friend pointed out all these patches in the back that she missed!!! I was soooo embarrassed. I had to rush to another waxing place last minute while on my trip and get the rest done. And it makes me sad because I spent already over $ 80 at this place for a not Brazilian wax and full legs.
Probably won’t be coming back. The only reason I would recommend this place is because they are really nice. My experience was based on waxing, not sure how they are with hair and nails.

If I could give a negative star I would. This place is not a professional spa/​salon. The mani/​pedi I received was awful and on top of that they don’t even have a drying machine! I’ve never heard of a place offering mani/​pedis and not have a drying machine! Even the cheap Asians know drying machines are essential! Never going back!!!

Highly recommended. The spa is lovely and clean. The owner, Sandra, personally did my mani/​pedi. After backpacking Europe for 3 months, my toenails had turned into talons. They were in rough shape — callouses, broken nails, frightening cuticles. Sandra patiently handled all of the above and left my feet looking like new.
The mani was great too — we even had a thorough conversation about horoscope pairings.
Overall: lovely spa, quiet, with good service.

I was hesitant to try out La Marqueza because of the negative reviews I noted on here. They had a Lifebooker deal available and I figured to give it shot.
Well ladies and gentleman I am so incredibly happy that I did!!! I think I found my new beauty home:-).
I had a Mani-​Pedi and a Brazilian wax. They started off with my nails, the staff was very friendly and engaging me during the services, so we had a nice chat. I have to shout-​out the lady that did my pedicure. I apologize that I don’t remember her name, but I think she was from Columbia. She was AMAZING! My feet have rarely been taken care of that well. I was the last client of the day and we were running a bit late, but they took their time and did not rush me at all!
The owner of the salon did my wax, and clearly she is an absolute pro when it comes to waxing. It was as quick and painless as waxing can be. Ladies it will always hurt a little bit, so if you are ever expecting a painless wax, you’re on crack lol.
I can be very critical when it comes to beauty services, because I just want what I want and expect high levels of service for everything. (Possibly a bit jaded with high expectations because of my hospitality background:). I know that excellent service is always possible, so am disappointed and will vocalize it when that doesn’t happen.
I would say my experience at La Marqueza was perfect. It truly was. They made me feel at home the whole time, and I will most certainly go back.
The price point is a bit on the higher end than what I would normally spend on these services, and really higher than what I can afford to spend, so I have purchased some more Lifebooker loots to allow me to go back. On lifebooker you can purchase up to 6 loots per customer, so this will last me a little while:). Please make sure you TIP! Keep in mind that they barely make anything of the Lifebooker loots, so a decent Tip is a must.
Everyone, go to La Marqueza and treat yourself!!.

I was so pleased with the spa manipedi I got from a lifebooker deal. $ 19 for the service, which is priced at $ 65. And let me tell you… I can see why. I’ve never had a manipedi as thorough, relaxing and downright well done as at this place. Beautiful space, very clean and with helpful, attentive staff. I had one woman doing my pedi (Vicky) and another one doing my mani (didn’t get her name but she’s a pretty Salvadorian woman with really cool glasses and great hair lol). I so enjoyed the experience… from the foot/​leg scrub to this miraculous cuticle cream that was put on my fingers and toes. Trust me, if I had the bank I’d be here every two weeks, but if I want to treat myself to something that’s better than the factory-​style manipedi experience I’m used to as a Queens native, I will definitely be back. Just wonderful!

Nobody likes a brazilian wax but this place made it very pleasant for me. It was my first time there and Vicky is extraordinary with her technique, manners and attitude. I can say she was one of the best in the city, and after 13 years I have been to many other salons before. Sandra the owner fantastic and sweet lady.

This place is a waste I’m so disappointed I traveled all the way from Brooklyn for a «SPA» mani-​pedi granted it was far from anything like a spa. I purchase the deal on life booker for $ 19 which they advertise for $ 65. I was better off staying in the hood with the oriental women who knows what they doing. They used an at home pedi tub and tools that are not properly sanitized. And there is NO drying station!!! The service was horrible she never changed the pedicure water and didn’t rinse the scrub salts off my feet and legs properly before applying lotion. The whole time I had to laugh to keep myself from disrespecting her place of business. NEVER AGAIN EVER!!!

Wow what a first impression La marqueza! Worst experience at a salon ever. Thanks for wasting my time. I should have known better with all the negative bad reviews this salon has. So I initially called the day before and spoke to the receptionist to make a appointment the following day for a consultation AND appointment for a single process, the lady over the phone said that was fine. Mind you I live in Queens and it takes me an hour to get to this salon.
The next day I trekked all the way to the upper east side from queens. Upon arrival this empty tiny two hair station salon. First impression was that this is a old lady salon the only two customers were two 50 something year old ladies and the stylist there are middle aged and dated looking as well this is not the place to go for a trendy cut or color it seems.
So there sat a grouchy looking receptionist whom did not greet me what so ever. And once I told her I have a appointment she looked clueless and told me to hold on while she grabbed the stylist. 5 minutes later another grouchy looking women came to speak to me no smile or greeting. First thing she says to me after asking me what I came for she says «you know a consultation is going to cost you» and we have no appointment time for you today. Wow umm ok I sat there looking at her dumbfounded. I told her I booked my consultation and appointment the day before and if there was a misunderstanding if they can squeeze me in for a single process. Because well your salon is EMPTY. Grouch #1 and grouch #2 were unsympathetic that I made my way to this crappy salon for nothing.
It appears la marqueza doesn’t want my business even though I did come with a life booker deal. I am a great tipper and would have tipped 40% the REGULAR price if she did a fantastic job… But it appears this salon doesn’t make time for life booker deal clients… People this place is not worth it. Please save your time and money… Rudest staff not accommodating at all. Zero stars

I was a little skeptical going to this place as the reviews were mixed. I bought a $ 19 lifebooker so if it was really that bad, at least I didn’t pay full price for it. Honestly if I could I would give it 3.5 stars. Place is not a nail salon but a salon boutique. They didn’t have the traditional pedicure massage chairs which I was disappointed since I always look forward to that. Vicky did my pedicure and she was amazing, the foot massage was to die for, I simply just melted in the chair.
Be prepare to spend like an hour for a mani-​pedi, not the typical asian place that will get you out of there in 20 min. Very typical upper east side crowd which is always amusing to hear their first world problems.
Overall not bad for the price I paid for a mani-​pedi, definitely on the higher end of salon prices. Would I go back without a lifebooker? Probably not but overall the experience was good and they did a good job.

I’m surprised this place got a bad rating. I went in today for a Brazilian wax. Found them on lifebooker and called but they honored the lifebooker deal without me having to purchase it online which was great. I was scheduled for 5:30. I got there a few minutes early and they greeted me.
My appointment ran 10 mins behind because the lady ahead of me ran late. But no problem. I went to the back room where it’s a pretty big space and the ambiance is nice. Sandra did my wax and did an amazing job. She even went over certain areas again to make sure she got it. We also chatted while she was doing the wax which is a great distraction for me and she was really sweet. After I was done she cleaned me up and made sure to walk me to the front. I’ll definitely be back to see Sandra.

Had to write a review for my wax experience. I got a cheap Lifebooker deal for a Brazilian, and decided to brave the lack of reviews. This was several months ago.
The waxing area is in the basement and dark – I wasn’t expecting much, so this didn’t really bother me. But to those whom it might, it’s essentially a portion of the basement cornered off with a drop ceiling. The lady who did my wax was a dark-​haired, middle-​aged woman. I do want to point out that she really was quite nice and friendly (hence the extra star), but there was DEFINITELY double-​dipping, and she didn’t wear gloves! For a Brazilian! I saw the pile of additional waxing sticks and gloves laying on the table, but I just blankly stared at them and was too shocked to say anything. How awkward and uncomfortable is it to point out these seemingly obvious things to someone wielding hot wax over your genitals, and how do you actually say it? Seriously, someone please tell me. I should have gotten up and left. Especially after she said they were «so busy!» with Brazilians because of the Lifebooker deals. (As a side note, she was also wearing a dangly bracelet that was occasionally touching the areas being waxed… and as a reminder, we’re talking about my vagina.) I can’t believe it. She *did* stop double-​dipping when doing the – ahem – back portion of my Brazilian, but that wasn’t much comfort. She didn’t pull the skin taut at any point of the wax, except for a brief moment when she asked me to, towards the end. She missed a lot of spots and basically broke a good portion of hair at the skin rather than ripping any out at the root, minus two or three small areas. Is that not the basis of the concept of waxing?
Again, the staff were very nice, but it’s been less than a week and I already need another wax. I’m not sure if it was just a long day, or if this is how things always are here, but I will be getting that next wax somewhere else.

I purchased a lifebooker deal for a blow out and style. The deal was less than half the price of blowouts, so I grabbed the deal without reading the very mixed reviews. I was a little nervous but I actually had a good experience here.
I arrived a few minutes before my appointment on a Saturday afternoon. I gave in my voucher and paid the tax, then they shampooed my hair (which took around 10 min). The salon is small but I thought it was cute. There were two other customers getting hair/​nails done too.
Carmen did my blowout and she did a great job. I liked how she was able to make bouncy loose curls and lots of volume. She was also done in under 30 minutes. I wouldn’t mind going back if I had some type of deal, because the regular prices are pretty high, but I was very happy with my blowout.

I don’t know what all the negative fuss is about. I bought a mani/​pedi deal on Lifebooker and here is my experience:
* very nice and quiet salon on Lex on the UES.
* the are NOT a «nail salon» specifically (they primarily do hair)
* I had a very nice, professional, and friendly lady do my mani/​pedi
* leg massage was on the light side but she took her time. Quite relaxing.
* all the manicure tools are sterilized properly (tons of reviews saying they aren’t. I saw everything she used was taken out of a proper canister filled with the anti-​bacterial/​anti-​final stuff!)
* yes, it’s true they don’t have the normal pedicure message chairs here, and yes, it’s a little uncomfortable (they have these foot soak baths, also, which are clean!) so I knocked a star off for that.
Overall, the lady who worked on me, Vicki, was very sweet and totally took her time and paid attention to detail.
Just be ready though, that the salon may smell of hair color treatment.
Overall, it’s $ 19 well spent! Very nice, courteous, professional staff. And a very clean salon. I’m being so detailed because I saw tons of bad reviews and that just isn’t my experience. Totally good, solid mani/​pedi experience if you know in advance that it’s a beauty salon and not a nail salon, specifically!
Oh – one thing — you have to pay the sales tax before you go for your treatment. :)

This place is a joke. The phone receiver was put down (not on hold) and I could hear the receptionist having a personal conversation with someone for 7 minutes (looked at the timer on my phone). I hung up and tried calling back for 10 minutes and the phone was still off the hook. She finally answered again and couldn’t help me reschedule an appointment because her calendar didn’t go as far as August so she asked me to call next month. I will NOT be calling next month, I will NOT be rescheduling for anything at this place. In the 17 minutes it took me to cancel and reschedule my appointment, i can’t imagine how many phone calls, emails and walk ins were ignored. Time is money people, and you won’t be getting mine.
