I got fitted for a shirt at the Knot Standard location in Chicago. Katie Fazio got me measured and fitted properly. She was very friendly, informative and helpful, especially when it came to helping me choose from the tons of fabric options and patterns! The experience of getting fitted for a shirt was both education and fun. I’ve worn it a couple of times now and it is now in my «A» rotation if not the first shirt I grab. I really dig it. Seeing as this is my first custom made shirt it fits totally different (and better) than anything in my closet right now which is all store bought. I feel that it fits really well, looks great with jeans and my dress pants. I’m looking forward to seeing how it pairs with shorts and sneakers for warm weather use. It’s a cool feeling to put on this shirt and know that is it uniquely mine. This shirt is the first of many that will be bought at Knot Standard. When I need a new suit the next suit it will most likely come from Knot Standard in Chicago.

I scheduled an appointment with Christina while I was in town. She helped me find a perfect suit for my brothers wedding coming up. Not only was her enthusiasm appreciated and reciprocated, her knowledge of everything from the fabrics to the invisible seams made it also a learning experience for me.
I happily bought my first custom made suit a day after at their showroom grand opening, an event they invited me to at the end of the fitting. Above and beyond customer service from Knot Standard.

Terrible service, impatient «consultants» that push you out within half a hour. I like to take my time when choosing something that will cost me over $ 2000. They obviously just care about getting quick cash.
The fit of the suits are a 6/​10, but they do have a wide selection of fabrics

I’m updating this review because, since my original review, I have purchased a few suits via the private collection service in the NYC showroom. Stylist Kendall Michaelis did an excellent job assisting me with the fabric selection and walking me through all of the design options. The ability to create a great looking, great feeling, one-​of-​a-​kind suit is unrivaled. I will never buy off the rack again.

I’m not going to spend a lot of time on this review as I’ve spent too much time dealing with Knot Standard. I placed my first order with the company on October 11 and was provided a Nov. 16 delivery date. It is now February 8, I’ve sent approximately 15 emails, made multiple phone calls, held online chats with their representatives, and visited their shop in NY twice. Despite this effort, I am still waiting for the company to complete my first order.
Here’s a brief synopsis of my experience. Knot Standard missed their initial delivery deadline because a fabric was backorderd. They failed to notify me that the fabric was out of stock. They failed to notify me the order would be late. I had to chase them to find out what went wrong and when I’d receive my order by sending multiple emails. When the order finally did arrive (after 6 weeks), neither the jacket nor the pants fit. I was surprised as I used their «match a suit» option to determine measurements. It shouldn’t be too difficult to recreate a pattern from an existing suit. Nonetheless, the jacket was too tight and too long while the pants were so small I could not put them on.
I called the company and, although I was intended to ask for a refund, I agreed to work with the company and let them try to fix the order. I agreed to come to their Flatiron shop so they could determine whether they would fix the garments or remake them. After making this agreement, it took many emails (many of which received no response) and calls to get an appointment in their shop. Ultimately, I had to wait two weeks for an appointment because the company was allegedly «so busy taking orders» for a sale that they had no open slots. This was obviously upsetting as a company shouldn’t be taking new orders when they are having difficulty satisfying their existing contractual obligations.
When I did arrive for my appointment in their Flatiron shop, their tailor was not actually available as promised. The sales representative agreed that the clothes needed to be remade and he requested that I leave a suit for their tailor to measure. He promised that the suit would be measured and returned by UPS in 24 – 48 hours. As I could not leave the suit at that time, I dropped one off a week later on Dec. 17. I was informed that a remake would be complete within 3 – 4 weeks of when they received a suit to use a model. I had to send many emails (again, many of which went without response) in order to get Knot Standard to return the suit I provided as a model, and it took the company a month to so. It is now nearly 2 months since I dropped off a model suit and I’ve yet to receive the remake. Furthermore, my inquires continue to be ignored or met with half-​hearted responses.
I am left with the impression that Knot Standard does not have the technology or infrastructure required to provide the services they offer to the public. Although representatives are polite and cheerful when they actually respond, they rarely do respond in a substantive manner and only after one shames and prods them through repeated contact. It feels like Knot Standard is committed to providing the public an illusion of good service even as they consistently fail to deliver goods that meet customers’ needs. In the future, I plan to stick with a company like suitsupply, which offers real goods rather than false promises.

Where do I start… I have been a custom shirt guy for years. When I lived in India/​China I got many made and then tried to find the same quality in the US. I have had several of my custom shirts fall apart so when I heard about Knot Standard I was curious to see what their shirts were like. The videos online helped walk me through taking my measurements and the shirt came back fitting great. I have a long torso (and uneven shoulders) so finding dress shirts that fit me in the shoulders and in length is difficult. I can’t wait to order more.

I came in for an appointment with Teddy at the New York showroom without any experience in custom menswear. He did a great job explaining the process from first appointment to fitting so I could know exactly what to expect.
I’m starting with a sports coat and I had a lot of guidance in picking the ideal fabric.
I also was able to go through some options for a suit. After my experience at the showroom I will definitely be looking into a full suit from Knot Standard in the near future to look sharp at some upcoming weddings.

Talk about quality, loveliness, and sexy rolled into one heck of a tie… my brother was more than stoked to receive one as a Christmas gift.
It’s exactly the gift to give when you’re trying to attract a chic, cool sister in law. I have one more brother, so, I’ll be back for certain :)

Based on my recent experiences, this company is the Subway sandwiches of bespoke.
Extremely disheartening. Read all for the inadequate service and unimpressive work.
I ordered 2 suits here– one for me and one as a birthday present for a friend.
Our stylist Marisa failed to inform me for over 2 weeks that my suit was ready for a fitting (I only found out because I heard from my friend who I had gifted the suit that he has received a text from her).
We scheduled a time to come in together for a fitting and were rushed through the process and out the door with out any detailed review of the features of the suit. My pants needed further alteration and she said: «we’ll just try an inch all around» which was the most specific discussion we had in the entire fitting.
When I returned home I inspected my garment and found stitching which was not to my taste nor specifications. It was wide Freddy Krueger jabs of thread that reminded me of the temporary baste my grandmother would do before the final stitch on my clothes when she made dresses for me as a girl. I sent a friend of mine who exclusively wears custom clothing and shoes a picture of the stitch and he said «your jacket needs more love and work.»
I contacted Marisa who snippily informed me this was the final stitch, emailed me a Wikipedia article about stitches so I could «have more knowledge about it» (!!!), and told me there was «no way of undoing the stitching.»
This has been an absolutely lovely (sarcasm) counterpoint to Knot Standard’s rhetoric about attention to detail and responsiveness to client needs, requests and alterations. I committed to bespoke with expectations about service and corrections that have not been met.
Finally Marisa offered to contact me on Monday with a set of times the head of production would be available to set up a phone call with me. I did not receive an email until Tuesday (today) –I will update this review with the final information as to whether the company continues to fail my basic needs as a client or if they will eventually correct their mistake.
In either respect, I recommend learning from my mistake, and looking more closely at a clothier before committing to work with them.

I purchased a suit for my fiancé and he loves it! Such a great fit and the company was so easy to work with. We will definitely make some future purchases VERY soon!

I was a little hesitant about ordering custom fit shirts online, but my colleague told me it was pretty easy so I decided to try it out. My fiancé did the measurements, and we ended up having a few questions so we called the service line and David was able to point us in the right direction. When the shirts came I was stoked!
Made-​to-​measure shirts are definitely the way to go, and the Knot Standard did a great job!

I visited the NYC Knot Standard showroom where I met with Stylist Kendall Michaelis. I was measured for shirts and she helped me through fabrics, customizations, and she took all my measurements. I have been to custom tailors before and had some really bad experiences, so I was a bit hesitant to go through the custom process again. Kendall made sure I understood all of my options, made the appointment fun and enjoyable, and my shirts are so awesome and they fit perfectly. I don’t live near a showroom, but Kendall sends me images of fabrics and I order shirts from her at least once a month. She keeps my wardrobe updated without me having to do a thing. I am looking to get a suit soon, and definitely recommend Kendall and Knot Standard for anyone interested in custom clothing.

I am a frequent purchaser of made-​to-​measure suits and shirts. Knot Standard sorely disappointed in many ways. In the end, I got an ok suit and some nice shirts. But my experience was poor. I will not return and I would not recommend it.
My main gripes were with the service and speed. I found the service to be very condescending. There were a lot of assumptions and projections made about what I might want or not — a specific color here, a specific collar type there — without asking me and including me in the decision. Also, the company and its representatives are not terribly responsive. Many emails and calls went unanswered, causing considerable anxiety. Their turnaround times were not predictable («a few weeks») and were often quite delayed. They didn’t seem to operate with any sense of urgency, which was irritating given that I had just handed over $ 1000.
They are also extremely expensive compared to other M2M companies and they have this strange online vs. in store model where the online prices are cheaper, but if you are an in store customer (say, if you live in a city where they have a store and you came in for a fitting), the folks in the showroom get totally weird about discussing any fabrics or promotions that can be found online. It just felt shady and icky. Not a pleasant suiting experience.

Needed an all around suit for weddings, interviews, etc and I’m glad I came here. Knot Standard has a wide range of styles, books upon books of fabrics, and you can customize every little detail. All of that is a little overwhelming for simple folk like myself, but their staff is very helpful and friendly. Daniel helped me through the selection and fitting process and I couldn’t be happier. Will definitely be coming back.

I was extremely pleased by every aspect of my Knot Standard experience. My new suit is excellent quality and fits beautifully. I am a petite woman, always needing to tailor my Theory suits, and then they usually don’t come out as well as I hoped. It was great to finally have a suit custom tailored to fit me perfectly! The suit came in early, and they were able to expedite my adjustments when I needed the suit sooner than expected.
I’ve already placed an order for a second suit.

Fantastic customer service and amazing value!

Save yourself the headache… if I could use negative stars to rate my experience at Knot Standard I would.
I placed my first order with Knot Standard in October of 2014. Five remakes, two trips to their office in New York and one year of my time, I still don’t have a finish product that fits well and is made the way I ordered it.
I will say everyone at Knot Standard has been very nice, professional and responsive but when it comes to delivering a well fitting suit; your better off shopping off the rack.
I would recommend spending a little extra money and working with a real tailor, it will save you from the stress of dealing with this nightmare company.
My Experience:
I ordered four suits from Knot Standard online 12 months ago (October 2014) I wanted to get one made first and then once the measurements were perfect then get the other three.
In January, the first suit came and it was way too big. Knowing that this is more of an art than a science, I called and scheduled a meeting to meet with one of their «professionals» after looking at the suit on me he told me they would make a few changes to the suit with their local tailor and have the suit back to me in a week.
A week later the suit came and it was still too big. At this point in late January, I decided to send the suit back and send in a suit from a different company that I liked the fit of to have the measurements copied and basically recreate that suit with the customizations, seemed simple enough and I was assured by the company that it would be a perfect match.
In the middle of March, five months after my original order and payment, I received an email from Knot Standard asking me how my suit fit, which I had not received. After explaining that to them they rush delivered it for the following week.
The next week, I received my third remake and the jacket was so small that I couldn’t even get it on. Again I called knot standard and was convinced to schedule a meeting to go in and this time meet with their «master tailor.» He took measurements of the suit that was sent to me, my body and the suit that I was wearing and told me that I would have my suits rushed and they would arrive in three weeks.
When I received the 4^th rendition of my suit once again to my disappointment they did not fit. They were too tight in the arms and back causing them to be uncomfortable and wrinkle all the way up he arm. I took the suits to a highly recommended tailor and they said it would cost $ 125 per jacket to make the necessary changes for the jacket before I could really get a feel for the fit.
I had the tailor make the changes to the jacket and once we were able to actually get the jacket on we realized that the sleeves were different lengths. I called my contact at Knot Standard and explained the situation. I was informed that the «master tailor» was fired from the company and they were being replaced. I was asked to send it the altered jacket and the pants and they would recreate the suit and fix the sleeve lengths and once again rush my order.
Five weeks after mailing my suit in I received an email from my contact informing me that they «forgot to place my order» and it would be an additional 4 weeks.
At this point I switched people I was dealing with at Knot Standard and started the process over. I sent in a complete suit to have recreated and six weeks later I received one of the suits. Overall the fit was good, however some of the customizations were wrong and I needed some changes made to the pants. I took the pants to my tailor, he made a few adjustments and we were all set. I sent the adjustments to my contact and asked him to begin making my three other suits.
This week 2 of the 3 suits arrived and once again there were errors. The measurements in the crotch of the pants were different from suit to suit and were both different from the original pants I submitted. The color and quality of the wool on the navy suit was completely different from the original order and the embroidery on the jackets was wrong.

. I recently got married and decided to go with suits in lieu of tuxedos for the wedding. One of my groomsmen suggested Knotstandard, and we ended up ordering four suits from them.
Here in Los Angeles, we unfortunately do not have a KS private showroom, so we followed the online videos to measure and sent in our orders online. Before doing so, I started working with Alexandra Kramer, who called me on a Saturday and walked me through the different custom options, fabrics, colors, full vs half canvas, etc. She followed up with me throughout the process and was super easy to work with.
All of the suits arrived between 3 – 4 weeks after ordering. One required no alterations, another minor alterations, and the remaining two had some adjustments done to both the jacket and pants. This all stemmed from the fact that our measuring technique could have been better, so I’d recommend going to your tailor or another fashion industry professional for your measurements.
Alexandra continued to work with me through the alteration process, and also expedited a remake of a shirt that I had ordered that was too short. All of the alteration costs were reimbursed and they do stand behind their guarantee that they will make sure you are happy with your garments. I’d highly recommend them to anyone looking for a M2M suit, as long as you have a bit of leeway in terms of your turnaround timing (minimum 4 weeks).
I would not hesitate to buy from knotstandard again in the future.
