A great spot for cheap and peak produce. They seem to have the lowest prices consistently for many vegetables(tomatoes, bell peppers, spinach, mushrooms, cabbage). I typically buy items I plan to use the same day or next day. They also have a $ 1 discount rack although sometimes the items do sit until they look unappetizing. I hope someone is eating cheap from these items. I buy overripe tomatoes to make tomato sauce($ 1⁄6 tomatoes) and overripe bananas($ 1⁄8 bananas) to freeze for smoothies. Hooray!

The stuff they sell is spoiled. It smell bad when you come near the store the smell in the air. I brought strawberries and they were no good. The green salad for $ 1 I brought 3 and they smell horrible. I am more aware with what I buy from this store. The fresh fruit are over priced.

I love Kim’s. It is my go-to-spot for Produce. Yes, there’s a bunch of sub-par, semi-rotten, un-ripe, bruised, wilted items — you just need to shop smart. The prices here make the effort very worthwhile. Yesterday I picked up 2 boxes of something like 1.5 lbs of mixed greens for $ 2 total. I spent 15 minutes rinsing & picking out the nasty bits. Was left w/80% of the original quantity. This would have cost me something like $ 10 at Garden of Eden/Whole Foods. I think this is a steal. I love the frozen guanabana pulp, lettuce, tomatoes, cantaloupe, peaches, avocados, aloe, etc. etc. I dislike that they are cash only.

Timing is Imperative! I just bought a weeks plus worth of groceries for $ 20. For the prices they can’t be beat, and you really have to dig a bit to find the best groceries. I haven’t found the perfect time to go get groceries but I would believe going early as possible you would find the best bank for the buck for fruits and veggies in the Upper West Side. $ 1.99 for a dozen Jumbo Eggs. Cheaper than Bravo down the block. Now for a guy like me who’s diet mainly consists of eggs, fish, fruit and rice, this place is the place for me. Make sure you smile and wave. If you see me, say hi too. Support the little guys, Karma comes back around. Beautiful!

Upon coming here throughout the summer, I’ve realized the prices and quality fluctuate greatly. It’s really hit or miss, but mostly miss. The quality of the majority of the produce matches what other grocery stores would be throwing out — edible, but nothing you’d want to pay for. I guess if you can figure out when they get fresh shipments of produce it might be worth your time. Otherwise. only if you’re desperate.
